Food is good. Service average but the restaurant is filthy, dirty, and disgusting. Horrible.

I have been to this location numerous times, but mostly after they first opened. Food- Always a solid 5 Service-based on last evening -5 This is a busy location. Management should provide more oversight. Some details: the line would move some, and then stop and the employees would disappear. I witnessed the more senior employee, who was the cashier, dump a side order of chicken that a customer brought back to her, right back into the chicken serving bin. The employee preparing our bowls scooped up small amounts of the ingredients and "flung" them in the bowl, some did not make it into our meal. The bowls had food hanging over the side, and she just slapped lids in the bowl. Another co-worker reached around her to use the sauce bottles, and ended up squirting the sauce all over the serving line. Our bowls were a mess. No one stopped to acknowledge this or clean it up. I am now probably too disgusted with this location (the only one close to us) to return. Almost everyone eats fast casual these days, and most of the employees working and preparing that food are younger workers. I have never experienced anything as bad as the service last evening. read more

Update::::: I have been back 2 times. The second time I was okay. The third time again, I was not okay. Whatever food handling here is flawed. The workers are straight up mean. One of the workers who is clearly young lets teenage boys go ahead of the whole like. I don't know what/where the management is at this place. So moral of the story: save your money. I reached out to them the first time when I had paid $28 and they didn't even give me $15 back. Their customer service sucks and their workers are mean. Don't go for the sake of your own gut. Original: I was so excited to try cava. This was straight up disappointing. First off, the portion was a joke and at that price I would've so much rather had Chipotle. They forgot my pickled onions, hummus, garlic sauce topping, and pickles. I got 2 pieces of falafel which is respectable but here comes the problem. I got 4 small pieces of chicken maximum. This said chicken was definitely not cooked, but I ate it since my gut of steel would protect me. Oh how wrong I was. The crazy feta or the feta crumbles tasted like blue cheese, part of me believes that it was not stored properly. Overall the food was disgusting. However pita chips 11/10 only edible part of my meal and best part of my meal. Compliments to the pita chip chef. However, as my food began to settle I felt some rumbles in my tummy. I had to keep it together as I was with one of my friends. It was NOT good. Really not good. My birthday was is ruined just because I wanted to try a new restaurant everyone was raving about. I tried this for dinner the other night. I was there at 6pm and they were already out of items which I found odd given it's not unpredictable to have a dinner rush at a restaurant. Staffing and service is mediocre. The wait was quite long and there was a long line of people behind me. The food is good and flavorful, at least what they actually had. Portions are rather small for the cost. It was good enough but not someplace I'd go out of my way to go to. There are plenty of other Mediterranean food options in the area that offer better value, better food and better service. read more

Picked up Cava on opening night. Large crowd and long wait. We finally got our meals and drove off only to find that they forgot the dressing and tziki, so we turned around. We finally got home with excitement to try this new and hot quick service restaurant only to discover that the meal portions were tiny. Their full size portion wasn't enough to feed me at lunch, let alone dinner. The food tasted okay but I had to prepare another meal since my dinner was less that 8 ounces of food. Very disappointed in the cost in comparison to all the competition. Besides, they offer no gluten free pita. Think I'll stay with Pita Inn. read more

First time here and it was delicious! Hard to find good quality healthy food options that are quick but this place nails it. We had the Harissa Chicken Bowl and the Falafel bowl, both were excellent with so many great toppings to chose from. Sema'j was so nice and explained all the options and provided his favorite recommendations, glad he did bc I loved the spicy Harissa chicken. read more

If you are a pharmaceutical sales rep like me, definitely do NOT order from here. Today was my second and last time ordering from here. They only offer online ordering, have horrific customer service. Pick up food is late, orders are messed up and they don't provide itemized receipts without a long wait and a fight. I waited 10 minutes while being ignored by staff. I repeatedly asked for a receipt, was initially told, "We cannot provide receipts. Use the tag on the bag." I said, "I need a receipt listing individual items' cost and total on it to get reimbursed by my company." Finally a staff member begrudgingly printed it without apologizing for my long wait and initial misinformation. She was obviously very ticked off to have had to print a receipt for an order totaling over $100. The falafel crunch salads only had 2 tiny falafels. Everything was cold and mushy. Definitely not fresh! Desserts are a joke. Tiny prepackaged disgusting mini brownies/blondies. The food is grossly over priced, not fresh. Small portion sizes, terrible customer service, no delivery service. Everything about the place seems like they're out to maximize profits and rip-off their customers, whom they clearly loathe. Horrible customer service . Went to upper management over a gift card and after 5 emails I'm done with wasting my time to get a gift card back that I had a balance on as I was told it was a one time use but says this nowhere on the card . The store said if I paid with another form of payment they would get me another gift card well that never happened - now they want receipts etc after three weeks ? I even gave them the name of manager and phone number who said I would get another gift card when they received them yet they are asking me something new everyday! All good Cava I'll get my bowls across the street or anywhere else but your company .i should not of been this hard to do the right thing . read more

Ordered Cava on the app last night. I didn't feel the need to check since we haven't had any issues last couple of times. My bowl was not even half full, most of my toppings weren't in there. Even the toppings that they put in there was just one or two pieces. And they drowned everything in the sauce. I feel cheated. read more

I was at cava on 890 N Milwaukee Ave Vernon Hills, IL 60061 United States. And the service was absolutely abysmal. First the Harissa chicken was completely burnt, multiple bites I was eating completely burnt ends that ruined my meal, on top of that she gave us very small portions sizes. Next the ground was very sticky, all the carbonated drinks to the right of the ice machine didn't have any syrup for the drinks and the ice machine didn't have ice. I didn't want to make a scene cause they were busy but I will definitely rethink my next stop here! read more

Welcome to the neighborhood Cava! I ordered on the app and it was super easy to navigate. Had a few modifications and that was easy to input as well. Food was delicious when I picked it up and ready on time. I did not have any human interaction other than hello and goodbye but overall great experience! Dining area and patio are really cute also! Very tasty and fresh. However, you could also very easily sacrifice your health, especially kidney health because the sodium can be over 2000mg per plate if you include rice, hummus, toppings, sauce and with the meats. Even just the rice itself is 770 mg! Black lentils 500mg! Harrisa chicken 670mg! The WHOLE day total sodium intake should not be more than 2300mg per WHO and often only 1500mg if your kidney is impaired (silent disease please check your eGFR values). Know what you are putting in your body. Please check out nutrition facts in the website before making your selection. It would be great if this company offers lower sodium items and meats especially if they are marketing their food as healthy. The website allows customers to select their diet type but does not include low sodium diet (apparently because none of it is). It would be great too if the nutrition facts are posted in the restaurants. read more
