First I want to start with saying every single person I spoke to at this dealership was beyond awesome! They all treat you with respect and kindness. this post is to the technician and to whomever did my brake "inspection" and allowed me to drive off of their lot with THREE babies all of which in car seats- with NO brakes! To sum up my situation- I have a ford explorer and loved the vehicle from the day I got it! And I mean- LOVED IT! I received letter in the mail saying the car needed to be brought in for a recall- three recalls- all rear work. Brought the car in for the recall. Was told there was needed a new subframe and a spring?? So I was set up on a payment plan because I'm struggling mother of four!- this car is my lifeline. But the car "passed" all inspections including brake inspection before driving the vehicle def the lot. We drove no more than five miles and the car lost the brakes COMPLETELY! Thank god I was on a 25mph road or my whole family could have lost our lives that night! Ford said to have the vehicle towed in. It was. Originally told not to stress that it would be fixed at no cost to me. Later that day- I received another phone call that it would cost over 1800$ to fix all brakes rotors and calibers! At that moment I had my car towed out of ford to my trusted mechanic and after tires were taken off- THERE WERE NO-ZERO- brakes!! And it passed a brake inspection?!?!?! I have plenty of pictures to share with the world! Please don't take your car somewhere where you can't trust your mechanic! My family -thank god- could have been killed! Brought my car in for service and while they charged me $2,200 for an air conditioner compressor for a four year old car is high as it is, they then left the car unlocked and interior light on overnight. Paid bill, got in car, and it wouldn't start. Now they want to charge me for the battery. Absolutely insane and lack of accountability I've bought two cars here and won't be buying any more. I was in the market for a new SUV. I had great luck with my 2011 Escape but decided to test drive a few other makes to decide what was right for me. Since Causeway Ford offered a great selection, I met up with salesman, Sam Morrison. Both Hyundai and Nissan were offering test drive promos so I brought my paperwork to Sam and tried out a Tucson and Rogue. I was to receive a total of $90 in gift cards fir the 2 test drives. So I decided on a new 2019 Escape Titanium. When the numbers were crunched I was not happy with my trade in value or the monthly payment. When I let Sam know I would need to think about the deal, his sales manager Wallace came over and the two of them attempted to strong arm me into making a deal. I walked out and purchased a 2020 Rougue at Pine Belt. So where are my gift cards? No record of my test drives at Causeway. Apparently the paperwork was torn up when I walked out of the dealership. The promo comes from the manufacturer so why would a salesman do that. Just dishonest. Made an appointment a month in advance. When I arrived I was told I would have to leave my vehicle and that it wouldn't be checked until the next day. Also it could take up to a week to get parts (it was a simple key fob problem). I have Ford Extended Warranty insurance and asked for a loner car (included in my insurance). I was told I would have to reschedule and that it would be 60 days until a rental car was available. Let me just start off by saying that I am overwhelmed with happiness after my experience at Causeway. My parents live down in LBI-I live up north by school. We have been searching for a reliable car at a good price for the last couple of months, as my old car was on its way out. Causeway is conveniently located by my parents house, so when my parents went to causeway to check inventory. There was a Ford Fusion they had seen on the lot-I had seen it online, and after seeing it in person I was in love. Greg was a TREMENDOUS help over the phone, as I could not get down there same day. Before we had even arrived, Greg had several cars in mind that he had wanted to show us that he believed would be perfect for what we were looking for. Since this was my first car purchase, the staff made everything the experience someone would want to have-whether this be your first car or 10th. I can't express enough how happy both my family and I are with the experience we had and how courteous the staff was from Greg, to Chad, and Mike in financing. At the end of the night, there was an issue with my insurance company, and Chad and his manager (who's name escapes me right now, I'm sorry) sat with me after hours to make sure everything was straightened out, and that I could drive the car off the lot that night. I am finally getting around to posting my experience at Causeway Ford, so here goes. I brought my 22 month old Ford F150 into Causeway Ford Service Dept, as there was a minor whistling sound. I figured potentially a part got loose, or a belt might've went, but nothing major in a 22 month old truck that I paid in the mid 40's for. To my surprise, I got a call from the service dept cashier informing me my engine is seized and it was going to be a $12,000 repair. A 2 year old car should not need a new engine. That is when I spoke to Chris Thorn manager of the service dept. He couldn't inform me where the oil was leaking from or how the engine could've possibly been seized, but informed me based on the technical service bulletin this is what his mechanic recommended. After explaining the circumstance to a family friend who owned an engine repair company, he advised me to get the car towed out of the dealership because the car's symptoms did not match a seized engine. Chris Thorn threatened that I'd be ineligible for Ford Service Assistance if my car left the lot, and seemed more concerned about connecting me to a Causeway Ford sales associate rather than helping me understand where the oil was coming from. So I took my chances and got the car towed. It took 5 minutes and a $10 plastic oil pan drain plug to be fixed, which was cracked due to being over tightened at my last oil change. How a professionally trained mechanic could tell someone they have a seized engine and blindly revert to a technical service bulletin (diagnostic guide for mechanics relating to known issues before recall) when there is $12,000 on the line for a customer is beyond me. Of course, once finding out it was only a plastic drain plug that needed to be swapped out, I called Chris Thorn back to inform him of the news. I was quickly told that is only a temporary fix and it is inevitable my engine will fully seize in the near future. I just bought a preowned Lincoln from Causeway Lincoln. I read the negative reviews and felt compelled to voice my own experience. I have purchased Fords new and used at Lakewood and Toms River before. Never any complaints except Lakewood trying to sell me wheel alignment 5 months after I purchased my 2015 MKC which I was charged a pre purchase inspection and repair of 499.00 on they also told me I needed an air cleaner and cabin filter!OK so tell me again what the 499.00 I paid was for? Read the fine print before buying used! I also bought a 2016 F350 there for well south of 50K! So I felt it was time to try a new dealership. At Causeway my salesman Julian Cimino was a true gentleman.I felt like he was a friend I brought with me to work over the dealer! I called him prior to picking up my car and asked him to go over it for me and make sure all was OK. When I got there I was greeted before I could make it to the door! All went smooth and I was able to get a fair trade on my 2015 and also a discount of the 2017 when up front it was stated it was rock bottom pricing.I also got to meet the owner of most of the dealerships on Rt.72 very friendly I guess the other guy must have said something to him to get under his skin? So its now Causeway for all my needs, and I will state if they disappoint me I will follow up here with a revised review! P.S. Rt 37 Downs did offer up my trade for 4K more than they gave me for it! My fiancé and I just left Causeway Ford in Makahawkin. The whole experience was great aside from dealing with the business manager Dierdre Lipowski. As a young couple and first timers purchasing a commercial truck for our construction company, we wanted to make sure that we were making all of the right decisions. Before signing on the dotted line, I wanted to speak with our accountant. I stepped out of Dierdre's office to call our accountant, and she asked me a few questions that I didn't know the answer to. So I walked back into her office and I said "my accountant is on speaker she just has a couple questions." Dierdre's response was "oh I'm not talking to your accountant. I'm not doing this. I'm dealing with Anthony right now" and completely dismissed me and refused to talk to our accountant. That was her response to someone who was buying a $70,000 truck. She was so incredibly rude that my accountant (who heard the whole conversation) asked me where we were buying the truck and said "I'll know to never do business with them after that." I also tried to ask Dierdre about lowering the interest rate and she basically said there's nothing she can do, but she said she'd "make a note that we want it lowered" which as someone who has family in the car business, I know that's complete bullshit. I'm completely mortified by the way I was treated, and if we weren't in a situation where we needed the truck today, we would've walked out after that. Dierdre took what was supposed to be an enjoyable experience, and turned it into an absolute nightmare. I left the dealership in tears, and Anthony left pissed off and feeling taken advantage of in his brand new truck. After dealing with dierdre, it's safe to say that we will never do business with Causeway Ford again as long as she is employed there. On a high note, our salesperson Julian and the manager Sam were great. I didn't want to drive to Boardwalk Acura to have my 2014 MDX routine maintenance performed (40 mile drive). I decided to call Causeway (3 mile drive) to see if they would be able to accommodate my request since they do have a Honda dealership(Honda/Acura=same, right?). I made the call on Wednesday and after 3 failed attempts due to disconnections from the automated systems, the 4th call I finally get through to a live person. I asked the receptionist if they could service my vehicle and she explained that she would transfer me to the service manager Don and he would better answer my question in case a special filter needed to be ordered. Don said that they service Acura's all the time and it was no problem at all and asked when I wanted to bring it in. I said Friday afternoon at 1:30pm, and he said that was available and took my name and number to secure the appointment time. I was happy that they were going to service my vehicle and that I had a great alternative the traveling to Boardwalk. Fast forward to my appointment day, today. I was going to be done earlier then anticipated from work and called to see if they could take me any earlier. The first receptionist sounded completely clueless, and I think that they should use my recorded call as a prime example of the customer service they need to work on. I apparently wasn't on the schedule at all. Well, ok I will chalk it up to a simple mistake although I was clearly annoyed and she transferred me to another service department within their dealerships to see if they could help. This woman seemed confused, I had to repeat my story, my name, my phone number, the fact that my vehicle was never there before, multiple times, and still there was no answer as to why there's no appointment or any information from my conversation with the service manager Don. Needless to say, no accommodations could be made for an an appointment today. To top it off, the phone was disconnected midway through the conversation and I never even received a call back! I'm sorry, but this is just unexceptable customer service for 2014. Called Boardwalk and had a completely different experience, received a live person right away who was knowledgable and professional. Got an appointment within the timeframe needed and I'm a happy customer. Time to step up your game Causeway. It's more then getting a "great" deal or providing customers free oil changes for the life of your vehicle. CAUSEWAY FORD IGNORES SAFETY RECALL Monday, December 30, 2019 I own a 2011 Ranger. Sometime in late August of 2019, I received a recall notice from Ford's corporate offices which advised me to call any dealership to make an appointment for a free repair, and that this was a dangerous or even deadly airbag issue. I live in Stafford Township, so I called Causeway Ford in Manahawkin and I spoke with Peggy on Aug. 24th who said she would order the parts and would call me when they were in to set up an appointment. Over the next 2 months I called the dealership every couple of weeks or so, to check on the parts and was repeatedly told they hadn't come in yet. On Nov. 15th I called again. I spoke with Kim who actually checked on the parts and said they were never ordered. Never ordered?? Kim said she would place the order herself and call me the following week to set up an appointment. Kim never called. Today, after 6 more weeks and several more calls to the dealership, I spoke with Dawn, who like Kim, actually checked and again I was told that the parts were never ordered. NEVER ORDERED!! Like Kim, Dawn assured me that she would personally place the order and then call me to set up an appointment. I decided I'd had enough and called the corporate offices of Ford where I finally received proper assistance. I spoke with Ashley who put me on hold while she searched for a different nearby dealership that had the parts in stock. When she came back on the line she connected me with Downs Ford in Toms River, and stayed on the line while I was able to make an appointment for this Thursday, January 2nd! It took me less than 15 minutes and in 3 days this issue will be rectified!! It's my guess that the management at Causeway Ford is deliberately avoiding doing these repairs because they're free, regardless of whether or not lives are in danger. Will never go back. First experience was for a recall from Ford for my F-150. When I brought the truck in, it was put on some calibration machine, and was told the wheel alignment was "out". Taking them at their word, I agreed to pay for the alignment. A month later, I brought the truck in for an oil change. Again the truck was put on the calibration machine, and again was told the wheels were out of alignment. I complained that I paid them just a month before to fix the alignment, and was told by one of the service people that "they would take care of it". After getting a call saying the oil change was done, I asked if the alignment was fixed. "Of course" was the answer. Picking up the truck, I asked them to please put it back on the alignment device...... and what a surprise, it failed again. Either they don't have a clue how to fix an alignment or they service people lie through their teeth. I had to wonder just how many people they scammed with this alignment scheme. A few months later, thinking it all might be just a few innocent mistakes, I called for yet another oil change. I specifically asked for an appointment for the truck to be done while I waited. Today when I arrived at the specified time, I was told my service personal that my appointment was NOT a "waiting" appointment, but that I could wait two hours for the oil change. I called dealership (2x) to check on availability, I was assured that the truck was on site and would be "pulled up and waiting for me" upon arrival. Called Causeway gave my information and was told it would be a few weeks to get the part. After received a call that the part was in I called to schedule an appointment. Took twenty minutes to make an appointment. Spoke to appointment person who needed all my information, then told me it would be a few weeks to get part. Reiterated that I was informed they already had part to which she said there was another recall and I needed to speak to the service writer. Waited on hold till Pat was available. He told me to schedule the appointment and sent me back in queue. Scheduled the appointment inquired as to how long the repair would take and was told 1 hour. Arrived for my appointment a little after 7:30 it was crowed with other clients checking in. No problem that can be expected. Finally get into the bay and I was told to go to Pat. He takes a call while I am approaching and I wait about 10 minutes for him. He takes my information and informs me it will be ready in the afternoon. I inform him that the women who made my appointment informed me it would only take 1 hour, I have no ride and was planning on waiting in the waiting area. He tells me they have over 50 appointments today. I tell him that nice and why I made an appointment for 7:30 this morning. After I have been in the waiting for 1 and 1/2 hours, someone else, I guess the manager approaches me and informs me they have not got to the car yet and it will be sometime because they are getting a lot of people coming in early for their appointments because of the bad weather. I ask why they would take appointments after me since I had a 7:30 appointment. When you are in the waiting area you can see the vehicles as they are waiting in queue to check out. I see my truck is 3rd in line to check out. The check out the other 2 vehicle and my truck is the only vehicle in the bay. Shortly after that they pulled anther car along side my truck and Pat checks that car out. Then they pulled another car alongside my truck and Pat checks that car out. Then they pull a truck behind my truck and Pat checks them out. Finally after 4 hours Pat checks me out. How stupid because the truck behind had to wait for me so they could leave. No management control over department, no communication between people and the appointment women running around trying to calm all the customer down who were complaining. I originally was deciding between a few different car types so tried out some local dealerships, and felt SO pressured to make a purchase, I had the salespeople and managers coming over and guilt-tripping me after I repeatedly said I wasn't ready to make a decision. So back to Causeway Ford in Manahawkin, NONE of that there. We've bought 2 cars from them now and won't go anywhere else. This is how buying a car should feel. They give you all the facts, answer your questions, do whatever they can to make you happy, and at the end of the day, it's your choice. I bought an Altima last year. At the time I was on STD due to an auto accident. My old car was wrecked and I needed a new one. The service at Causeway was very good. Nice helpful agent. They kept me there even though I was pretty tired as they said they could give me a "crazy,crazy" deal. I was asked to name my price so I said take another $2000 off. The lady came back from "the manager" with a price at least 3K below sticker. By that point I was exhausted and it certainly seemed a great deal so I signed the piece of paper with the final price typed on it at the bottom of previous prices. So after another 2 hours of doing paperwork and having service plans and so forth pitched, I drove away in my new car. Due to priorities related to my recovery I did not review the documents for some time. When I finally did I found that the paper I ahd signed, or a copy there of, was not includued. From what I could figure from the bill of sale I had actually paid STICKER price, not the discount price the saleswoman and manager had spent 45 minutes coming up with to get me to buy right then and there. So as near as I can figure it seemed I paid at least 3K more than the price I signed for. I have contacted the dealership and have had no reply of any substance. Now I'd like to think this is a misunderstanding, as the people I dealt with seemed very nice and above board. But I have asked for a copy of the document I signed with the discount price- I know it was stupid not to get it at the time, but as I said I was tired and recuperating from a car crash and kinda just wanted to get out of there: not the best condition to be in when making such a purchase. So my conclusion is that there was a miscommunication in the agreement and write up process. Either that or they just went ahead and charged me full price after a charade of bargaining, figuring I wouldn't scrutinize the paperwork immediately based on my depleted condition. I think it was the former and I would be glad to report that- because aside from this quandry I found the experience at the Caseway deakership to be outstanding, and I have bought several new cars and always it because the salespeople seemed shady and were always trying to snow you; indeed the whole process of back and forth with prices would have caused me to leave but at the time I had no car and felt OK with it. I will gladly rate Causway a 5 if and when the issue in question is resolved. read more
