Cato has great fashions at reasonable prices. I have purchased from this store many times, and never had an issue til now. I am disabled, and need oxygen and a walker to walk. It's very hard for me to get around these days. I had a difficult time just shopping, because I felt so bad, but I did find a few items that I liked, and proceeded to the check out , where I sat on my walker seat (I was out of breath) and placed my clothes on the counter. The saleswoman was busy, didn't notice me sitting there, and waited on someone else with a large pile of clothes. I let it go, thinking she probably just didn't see me. When she finished with her customer, she finally came my way. I already had my clothes ready , so I handed her my card. She immediately said "We aren't allowed to touch customers cards". I was confused, honestly. I asked why, and she said "I don't know, I just started here". So I was forced to get up and move to the terminal and do the transaction myself. She was unapologetic and rude. You see a customer struggling, you would think they would be more helpful. So I slid my card into the chip reader, and the machine did not work. I tried multiple times to try my card, to no avail . I said to her, "We have a problem. This machine is not working, and you can't touch my card. I need help, and obviously you can't help me". What now! She proceeded to get her manager, who came up and said she'd make an exception and help me with my transaction. I asked her about this policy, and she responded , just exactly like this, "Call cooperate, I don't know". UNREAL!!! I told her that they should be more accommodating to people with disabilities, that I found them both rude, and I would call cooperate! If you have a disability, of any kind, be careful shopping there. They do not take any special measure of care with customers who are struggling at all!! It's very disappointing, because Cato had cute clothes and good prices. But I'll never shop at that store again, and I won't shop alone, either. I felt unseen and like a burden, and I've NEVER heard of a store that "won't or can't touch your card". We do it all the time at drive thrus. Definitely very poor customer service. Again: use caution if you are disabled in anyway when shopping at this location. read more
