The Cathedral Saint-Andre also call Bordeaux Cathedral is located just off from Rue Saint Catherine. The cathedral completed around 1500. It is a UNESCO world heritage site. Royal wedding had been conducted at this church for Louis XIII and Anne of Austria who later give birth to important king Louis XIV. The stain glass window show apostle Paul and King David. The back prayer room is sacred for many believers. This cathedral has it own beautiful decoration. The exterior has two towers that symbolizes the church and addition tower on the side. read more

Gorgeous!!!!! What do you Bordeaux for?! Wine?? Yes! But the old town center is what you should come for. Including this gorgeous, stunning, magical cathedral!!! And the clock tower too! But it's insanely fairytale like. Oh so gorgeous. I got a hotel right next to this with a view of it too so I can look at it day and night!!! The Porte royale is so intricate. The inside of the cathedral is equally stunning architectural wise. The details, the painted glass! Didn't attend any mass here but it is absolute breathtaking. I enjoyed walking back and worth from this during my Bordeaux time!! Wine country is a different story! But if you stay in Bordeaux, stay in old town/center! And come visit!! read more

Magnificent cathedral situated in a really cute place with a lot of cafés and restaurants around. Also there is a tramway station just near of monument which facilitates your transportation in the city! read more

The organ in this church is absolutely huge! When you walk in, make sure you look to the right, to the back and admire the giant organ pipes. As most churches in Europe, this one has it's history too. The interior is lined with small chappies and tombs. I'm not positive of the truth of it, but I've heard that the nights Templar was suppressed here. The bell tower is made of limestone and therefore not attached to the church for safety reasons and has a limited number of visitors allowed a day. I heard the view from the top is great, but I was not able to make it on a day that there was any availability. I've gone to many churches in Italy and Spain but not in France, I was surprised because it was late summer and I was in a tank top but wasn't asked to cover up my shoulders or knees. There is no entry fee, but they do take donations. read more
