From my first contact with Jennifer about bartending our 160 person wedding, it was smooth sailing. She was very responsive and professional and answered any and all questions that I had. She was by far the easiest to work with of all our vendors. The day of our wedding, Jennifer and Senetta did a wonderful job. They were professional and fun. I had had many previous problems figuring out the alcohol for my 130-150 guest wedding. The venue was not the most responsive and it was difficult getting a clear response. When it finally was agreed that we could use our own alcohol and bartenders I was beyond happy (it saved us a ton of money). I am so thankful that I was able to find Catered Cocktails. Jen was very responsive the entire planning period, she helped narrow down some of the details of what to do (I am not the expert when it comes to beverage service and numbers), she even recommended a vendor to use in the area (if you're in the madison area go to University Ave Liquor for anything that you need, Herb is AWESOME) Catered Cocktails was wonderfully priced and Jen and her fellow bartender did an AMAZING job. She was kind to all of my guests and uses sound judgement on when to cut some people off. They were on time, friendly, and even provided some items I forgot. A wonderful experience! read more

Jenny and her assistant served at my wedding two weeks ago, and they did a great job. I found Catered Cocktails about 6 months before my wedding date, and everything about communicating with Jenny was so easy. She made sure everything was in order and that the service was exactly as I wanted it to be. On my wedding day, I loved that I didn't need to worry about drinks, because Jenny had made me feel so confident that everything would be fine--and it was! I hardly interacted with the bartenders, but all of my guests seemed happy. People had drinks in their hands, and I never noticed a time that there was a line or crowd at the bar. We did run out of beer much earlier than we thought, but that was not Jenny's fault, my groom and I supplied the beer and we did not get enough. However, Jenny let us know with plenty of advance notice so that we could get more beer and the party continued without a hitch. I read the one-star review on here, and that is the exact opposite experience I had with Catered Cocktails. They were nothing but professional, friendly, and easy to work with. We used Catered Cocktails for our recent wedding and our experience was mixed. The bar-tending and and event assistance (clearing tables etc.) that we hired them for went smoothly and the pricing was reasonable. However, they also offer "full beverage and supplies service" where you select the drinks you want and they purchase and everything else you need. This is where we ran into some issues. The communication was spotty and the pricing was pretty inconsistent and confusing. Even though I sent all the details months ahead of the wedding, they asked us to supply an extra table and a cooler very close to the wedding, which was fine, but we would expect a cooler to be part of the full service and would have hoped to have that communicated earlier. In the end it all worked out, but added some stress to the planning process. Maybe that is a new part of their offerings and they are still working out the kinks. On the positive side, we were pleasantly surprised by their house wine, which was quite tasty. read more

Although Jennifer was cordial and a pleasure to do pre-planning arrangements with (ie: how many of this/that, what we need, etc.) I was not very impressed with how she conducted business on our wedding date. Our wedding was 150 people, in Beaver Dam, and in my parents back yard. I supplied everything for them (aside from mixing utensils). My father expressed concern regarding underage drinking and over-intoxication. I understand he had requested that IDs be checked for those appearing to be underage. This is not an unusual request and was part of the reason we'd hired a bartender to handle alcohol rather than have a liqueur buffet. However, requesting the ID of my grown, adult guests repeatedly throughout the night became an issue. By "became an issue", I mean that myself, the groom and our parents were receiving countless complaints from our obviously-adult guests that they were being refused service at the bar or they felt as though they were treated rudely. A specific situation would be she requests to see the IDs of my grandparents (they're 70+ years old) or our aunts and uncles who are well into their 40s. In fact, looking back at my guest list, there were 16 underage children (not teens) at the wedding. The issue persisted throughout the evening, concluding in my father and the groom having to tell her to ease-up 3 different times. I understand that we hired her and her colleague for the better part of the day. I understand that we hired them both over 2 mealtimes. I made it a point to pass-the-word along that vendors were welcome to help themselves to a plate of food before the caterer left. However, I did not expect that she would serve herself food prior to all of the guests eating and seat herself amongst them. That was not professional in the least. I didn't notice it, but my guests did and they've brought it up to me numerous times. Biggest issue that baffled me was her telling guests (my bridesmaids, groomsmen, and our parents included) that we were all out of various sodas and other alcohol by the end of the night; however, when cleaning up the next day, we carried 20+ 2-liters and 10+ bottles of alcohol out of the ice trailer. We did not run out of a single thing other than cups. I do not understand why she would tell people we were out of those items. A specific example, we bought a ton of diet soda because there were 3+ guests that are diabetic. One of those guests approached the groom at around 10p stating he was told there was no more diet soda. We had some; we're still finishing 2-liters that were left over today. She refused service to one of my dearest friends while the groom was ordering her a shot. We bought a special $50 bottle of gluten-free vodka exclusively for her that went to waste because she over-asserted herself. She then proceeded to give the groom himself a mini-sobriety test when he was ordering (ie: asking rapid-fire, unrelated questions, paying close attention to his answer/response time). Guests complained to me about her rudely refusing service unless they brought their original cups back. I understand we ran out a few times, but we had enough (and continuously brought her more) that she didn't need to be turning people down. On the other hand, we received nothing but compliments regarding her colleague's composure and professionalism throughout the night. In conclusion, hearing the feedback we've received from our guests since the wedding I was unsatisfied with the quality of service she provided. I will not be recommending her business to others. read more

I would highly recommend Catered Cocktails to anyone who is looking for professional staff who are very detail oriented. And fun! I used Catered Cocktails for a work event at a private residence and I am so glad that I did! Jennifer was so easy to work with ahead of time, making sure that all of the details were taken care of. She and her staff arrived on time, stepped right in, were extremely professional in serving beverages to our guests, replenishing hors d'oeuvres and keeping the kitchen neat and tidy. They were fun to spend time with and very interested in our event and cause. They graciously stayed to clean everything up and really simply took care of everything! I was in charge of organizing a couple luncheons for my freemasons group recently. We rented space at the Zor Shrine and they suggested Catered Cocktails for our bar service. I was in contact with Jennifer and found her to be very pleasant and professional. She asked the appropriate questions and gave us a price that was very straightforward and fair. When our group of about 40 showed up, Jennifer had everything set up and ready for us. I just had a Coke, but from what I could tell, Jenny was both friendly and efficient in serving everyone. I took note of how conscientious she was with keeping the bar clean and organized throughout the event. It's clear that she has experience and ran the bar with ease. There were no surprises, just an overall pleasant experience. Because of our first positive interaction with her service, we hired her again a month later for our second gathering and we were just as pleased. I would like to start by stating that up until the wedding day, Jenny was professional and helpful. After our unfortunate experience with her service on the actual wedding night, I would not recommend her services if you want an enjoyable evening for you and your guests. We had agreed with the venue that it would be ok to serve (1) one 1.5 ounce mini-bottle of a shooter (not hard liquor) to our guests as a party favor with a personalized shot glass. These bottles have the same alcohol content as a serving or beer or wine. There was an understanding that they bottles would be kept behind the bar to monitor their consumption. Jenny made the decision on her own that this would not be happening and started making mixed drinks with the mini's without even gaining our approval. We had bought the mini-bottles and they were not for her to serve as she see's fit. I understand it is her job to manage alcohol consumption and crowd control; however the manner in which she dealt with it was rude and disrespectful. No body was unruly, violent, or vomiting. It is not her place to judge my guests who were acting in a respectful manner. If there was an issue, we are fully capable of asking these guests to leave...there weren't any. We had two shuttle services to ensure guests could get home safely and legally, however she ignored that fact and investment we made. Her comments to my wife included "I don't care what you want to serve, it doesn't even matter". It was our wedding, and it did matter. Bottom line. My family and friends commented that Jenny was cold and unfriendly. It seemed as though she didn't want to be there. Jenny would benefit from coaching on how to treat people in a respectful manner. Especially, demonstrating empathy to the bride and/or groom on their wedding day. I agree that Jenny did her job, but she didn't do it well. Unfortunately Jenny doesn't have the customer service skills to complement her bartending skills. I would strongly recommend using a different service, however with our venue it was the only option. The argumentative and defensive dialogue we experienced, makes me to believe that Jenny may not be able to develop the professionalism needed to serve her clients in the proper manner. read more
