I took a lot more pictures, and didn't put them up as there seems to be enough reviews, but truly, if you are going to spend money to see something in the Camino, this one is worth the 9 euros you will spend! As the church's power declined, the hermitage came to depend on the stronger Sobrado dos Monxes. Deterioration of the original construction gradually affected the place of worship, and in 1835 the desamortización of religious property by Mendizábal was the final blow the San Xusto. Today the spot is still visited and is accompanied by a white yet not overly large cascade whose waters glow white among green foliage in some spots. It is a place to sit and listen to the flowing stream, surrounded by laurels - lovers of moist, shady areas. The Romanesque cloister was long ago removed to a church in Noia, about 20 km away. The way down to San Xusto is a bit steep and one has to leave the car on a busy road, so walk carefully. Beautiful town of Samos should be a preferred route on the Camino vs the more popular route of Sarria. The hostel in the monestary is a free will donation if they have a bed and is very minimalistic. There are several other hostels in the area should this be full. Highly recommended this stop along the Camino!
