The time availability, Golden Hour Tour discount, and Anacortes departure allowed us to narrow our decision. We were very pleased with our three our tour. However, it did not seem like it would work well for beginners as basic skills were needed to paddle and navigate. I never quite got comfortable with the peddles for turning and would have had them a little lower as my feet slipped off a couple times. I could not bend my knees enough to reconnect the peddles for turning on my own. Our guide assisted me which held up the tour though. We were in a tandem which worked well for us as my husband was recovering from surgery. We were covered with a skirt to keep us dry for the most part. Some water did leech in to wet our bathing suit bottoms so we were glad we brought a dry change of clothes at the end. We saw eagles, seals, jumping fish, and other birds. Whales do not come in this close to the main land so we had no expectation. The water was like glass in parts, slightly turbulent in others, and the island shores simply serene. If you stuck close to the guide, he was very knowledgeable.

It was quite windy on the boat so definitely bring jackets and a tight cap. The crew was very welcoming and knowledgeable. They kept us engaged with facts about marine life throughout the tour. We saw sea lions, a few species of birds and a family of orca whales. This was not an orca specific tour so we expected to see a few more whales (especially gray or humpbacks) but once the orcas were spotted, the boat spent an entire hour chasing them and taking pictures. We were also quite far from the orcas compared to our previous tour in Alaska where we had observed the whales more closely. It was a slightly disappointing experience for us as we had seen all these animals on a previous tour and had booked this one based on the guaranteed whale sighting.

I live in La Conner and frequently walk my dog down first street around the time people are making their way to the tour. At least two days a week, I encounter customers that are totally lost. Some of them are waking East away from the water and others are walking towards the marina. I even encountered one group a half mile away at the North Basin of the La Conner Marina. I alway tell them how to get to the boat.

The weather was perfect. We saw porpoise, heron, eagles and seals-as well as a host of beautiful boats The whales didn't make an appearance but we got to see a number of the different harbors through & around the different islands. . Captain Amio's knowledge of the area enhanced our journey. Great day on the water. Noah's communication made it easy to figure out everything. The boat was clean, had a bathroom and OUR 3 hour tour ended successfully. (It was supposed to be a 4 hour tour, but we sacrificed a half hour on each end since he picked us up on Lopez, we thought it was worth it).

He is very professional as he sent me a text in the AM asking if we needed anything special to help us prepare etc...so first the Boat...Nordic Sun is a wonderfully restored tug that easily accommodates 6 so having 3 on the boat with Noah was very spacious...the boat is very clean and has a full head!!! Our tour was awesome and Noah added color and history as we cruised while giving us our space to enjoy the beauty and have a glass of wine!!!
