This place is absolutely fantastic and I'm so glad I stumbled upon it one day when The Man dragged…read moremy hungover bum out the door and for a walk to discover our new neighborhood. We are doing up our house at the moment and, having moved from a flat, are in desperate need for furniture. We'd chosen to visit this part of town to check out the antique stores and happened upon Vintage and Reclaimed. The owner explained that the furniture is all new, but his standard stock is made from reclaimed timbers which gives it a fantastic look. He also stocks furniture made by someone down south (I think??) which has a more finished look to it and is also gorgeous. The best part about this place is that they are willing to make what you want to size. This means that if you fall in love with a piece of furniture they have on the shop floor and devastatingly discover that it won't fit in your house, not a problem! They will make one of the size and colour which you like. On top of this, the prices are SO reasonable. Seriously. The Man and I are looking for a massive wardrobe and the one we found here was a good £700+ cheaper than any other one we liked. After we left here we visited the aforementioned antique stores but just kept saying "it's not as good as Vintage and Reclaimed" so we gave up and decided that once the building work is done, we will scrape together our pennies and spend them all here.

I'm still very tempted by a nice two-seater which I found but there was just one of them; I want to find a matching pair if possible. However, the man I spoke to (who was very helpful) said there were no other sofas exactly the same in their Irvine store either, where he works part of the time, which is a pity. Certainly a nice store to look round and I shall go back there again soon to see what else is on offer.

A huge part of me loves the mystery of something pre-loved. - And the SAAC definitely got this part of me giddy. Seriously. This is legitimately a vintage clothing, music, jewellery, glass, furniture, EVERYTHING shop. The place is HUGE. And they have a cafe and gift shop. You could really lose track of time, and even then, you'd feel like there was more to see. I didn't want to miss anything, and I've already planned my next visit, alongside a list of folks who I know will love it as much as I do. Price-wise, yes, antiques can be expensive business but if you're planning to buy a gift for someone special, then you could most definitely stay within budget. The jewellery section was absolutely stunning with an amazing amount of choice and a variety of prices too. Equally so, if you're looking for something really really special and prepared to spend that bit more, you won't be stuck for choice here. - There are just so many beautiful things I felt free to wander and, whilst staff walked around the centre and CCTV was in operation, it wasn't intrusive and it didn't make me feel uncomfortable. You could visit just for the sake of visiting and make a real day of it, and even go to the cafe afterwards. - Something I've a feeling I'll want to do again and again and again.

They do furniture, books, paintings, jewellery, clothes, old toys, coins, postcards - heck, just about anything! And when you're done there's a wee coffee shop there too. Brilliant for a rainy day or for hunting down that prize chesterfield furniture.

Oh my word, I've found it!…read more This is it. This place is where I want everything in my dream home to come from. The Chanlon showroom is filled with lovely, hand-crafted examples of 18th and 19th Century style furniture, which have been made to look distressed and aged as if they have been in grand country homes for years. The influence is mainly English but you can see that Scandinavian and French styles come through in lots of the pieces in-store. Kitchens come in lots of customised styles and collections, including designs for smaller spaces and hand-crafted Oak fittings, ranging from £20,000 upwards. Expensive. Very. Chanlon also sell furniture for the bedroom, bathroom and study areas of your house, such as the beautiful four poster bed, at almost £6,250. This would be the ultimate in luxury! The pieces are beautiful but this beauty comes at a price, and a hefty one at that. I can dream though!

It's got some really lovely bits and pieces - Glasgow road signs, vintage map wall art, luggage cases, Shetland wool blankets, chandeliers, furniture as well as wee decorative pieces. One of my favourite finds was a glass pineapple that has a silver coating and now sits on my lounge room table. I didn't realise but they also have a shop through in Edinburgh and an online store. With fantastic customer service and great, unusual pieces, I'll definitely be popping in more often.

Anyway, needed a mother's day gift and I'm glad I went in. I was focussing on the unique candle scents, rhubarb and ginger or fig to name but a few, for the gift. These were so delicious I came away with one for mum and one for me. Other things that caught my eye were the range of blankets/throws and room diffusers. Staff here are extremely helpful and friendly (none of the pouncing/smothering approach some people go for) and a pleasure to do business with. If you need something lovely...time and tide. (Even if you are clumsy!)

We visited looking for sofa beds. It turns out that sofa beds are unexpectedly difficult to buy and unfortunately, Harvey's only had one available, which would have been too small. To be fair, that can't be their main sales area, and had I been buying a regular bed (or a regular sofa) I would have thought the range available was pretty fair. We also had a wander to look at dining room furniture and coffee tables. We weren't too impressed with the latter, but the dining room table options were promising. They have a good variety here including several that cleverly extend so that you can seat more people.

There are hundreds of dining tables and chairs in store, a large selection of sofas, chairs, coffee tables, TV cabinets and sideboards; plenty of beds to browse too with a choice of single, double, king size and children's beds. I was looking mainly at sofas the day before yesterday but didn't like any of the colours. The man working in there assured me that most of the soft furniture came in most colours he produced a book of colours and swatches of material. I preferred one I saw in another store so didn't want to purchase anything on this occasion - but it's definitely worth a look here if you're furnishing a home.
