Aloha Construction - New roof installed December '24

Aloha Construction

I hired Aloha Construction following a hail storm we had last summer. They were absolutely great…read moreto work with. They helped me navigate the insurance claim process and worked with my insurance company to get a new roof, skylights, gutters and downspots. The crew who built the roof was incredible - they made sure to tarp the unfinished side as a snowstorm was coming that evening, then proceeded to finish the roof with 3 inches of snow on the ground the next day. They even took off our Christmas lights so that they didn't get damaged and put them back on when the roof was finished. They picked up all the trash and I didn't find a single nail or screw after they left. The roof looks great and I want to thank Jessica and the whole Aloha team for helping us navigate the insurance claim process and getting a fantastic new roof!

They went on the roof and claimed damage and said they would work with our insurance company. What they didn't explain was that just contacting our insurance company to do an estimate puts a ding on our record and we could be dropped by insurance if a future claim occurred. The damage estimate came out less than our deductible so in the end we just got a black mark on our insurance for no reason. One of their sales guys was fine but the other was pretty rude. I would not recommend them and do not let them call insurance until you are sure you have enough damage to make it worth putting in a claim. Lesson learned on our end.

Top Notch Roofing & Construction - After the work

So Frank and his crew from and Top Notch was the quickest to answer our RFQ on Yelp. Very polite…read moreand businesslike, and said he could repair the very broken concrete under our front porch instead of fully replacing it; we bought our house as-is several years ago and had been dreading having work done on it, due to cost and time concerns. He moved his whole schedule around to fit us in at the end of the season and gave us what I thought was a very fair price to fix up not only the broken pad, but the stairs, the sides of the house, and some of the walkways. We shook on it and he got to work on it right away. So far, so good! At the end of the second day's work, he offered to finish off more the area to make it look more uniform for an additional fee. We said no, what he had done was fine and we needed lots of other repairs on the house. A few minutes later he said he would do it for free and we could tip if we liked. He worked until the end of the day going above and beyond, and we tipped him an additional few hundred dollars. I was about to write him a five star review immediately... until I went outside that evening and saw that his crew left a GIGANTIC pile of broken concrete not on OUR lawn, but our NEIGHBOR'S without telling us. It's still there now. Our neighbors are angry, as they have every right to be, and we are now having to pay to have the concrete removed. Bottom line, the work was fast and well priced and what we wanted, but the cleanup is going to cost us hundreds more.

(4.5 stars) We found out last summer that we had hail damage on our roof. We knew that our siding…read morewas also damaged. We contacted several contractors. Steven Grimm from Wolf Development was at our house in less than 2 hours after we made the call. He checked everything out. He took a lot of pictures of everything. After some discussion we decided to go with Wolf to replace our roof, siding, gutters and downspouts. Steven called our insurance company right then and filed a claim. He did all the follow up with our insurance company to make sure all the damage to our house was covered. He also did all the work with the county to get building permits. (5 star customer service) When the project was ready to start the roof material was delivered. We also got a dumpster and a port-a-potty. All this was placed on the edge of our driveway such that we could still get our car in and out of the garage. Steven and/or David (owner) visited the job site frequently. Their crews got a lot done in one, long, work day. The roof, gutters and downspouts were fine. We did have some issues with the workmanship of the siding installation. Steven and David came out to look things over. They found a number of items they didn't like. They had their crew out the next day to make fixes. We have shutters on a small window on the garage. For some reason the shutters didn't fit after the new siding went on. New shutters had to be ordered. A crew member said he would tell David to order the new custom shutters and it would be about 4-6 weeks. We waited 6 weeks and called Wolf. Apparently the shutters hadn't been ordered so we had to wait an additional number of weeks. It seemed to us that David had forgotten to order the replacement shutters. Instead of admitting he had forgotten (as we would have understood) various explanations as to why the shutters had not been delivered to the warehouse were given. The siding was finished mid-August...the shutters were finally put up mid-December. Steven and David also did some custom work for us to hide the ugly wire from our roof-top TV antenna to the lower level of our house, for that we were most appreciative. Thanks.

David strives to provide the best service for his customers. He is honest about services necessary…read moreand gives a quote accordingly. He keeps me updated throughout the process and was detail-orientated in materials selected. His team was efficient in changing the shingles on one side of my roof, and installing 3 new bath vents and 2 new chimney housing. While up on the roof, he also made sure all the exposed screws are properly sealed to prevent further rusting. All costs are reasonable and transparent. Clean up was done without leaving a trace of nails or debris. I would definitely recommend David to anyone who is looking for roofing/siding/chimney updates in their home.

I can't say I was thrilled when we were in the middle of a bathroom renovation and already pouring…read moreway too much $ for our home and we discovered (thanks to a few rainy days) that we needed new french doors leading out to our backyard. I'm usually not one to spend time getting a bunch of quotes and just rely on Yelp reviews to make a purchasing decision, but this was pricey enough purchase that i figured I should do my due diligence.' Siding & Windows Group was one of the 4 companies I had come out for a quote. We ended up with them for a few reasons: - Their quote was competitive - They were able to spray paint the interior trim with our existing paint color - They were able to match the exterior trim as closely as possible to our windows outside - Anthony at Siding & Windows Group was very responsive We placed the order on August 22nd, which is my bday. I can't say new doors was what i wanted for my bday, but i guess this is being a homeowner in your 40s. The new doors weren't installed until November 6th and we just hoped for no big storms and got lucky. Anthony checked in a few times on when they'd be installed and pushed it back a few days due to other projects. The actual installation took about a day, which wasn't too bad. A week later they came to spray paint, which honestly seemed like a much bigger project than installing the doors. That took 2 days and went smoothly, although there was a little confusion about them not knowing what color to paint, etc. It turned out beautifully and while the doors look very similar to our old doors I like the look of these even better. The exterior finish isn't a perfect match, but i think a big part of that is our old paint on our windows as faded. One day we'll touch it all up, but for now we're looking forward to a break in paying for anything for the house. I learned there are a lot of companies in the area for new windows/doors, but we were satisfied with this one and would use them again.

They were prepared for bumps in the road as well (weather) and kept in good contact throughout the process and actually listened to us when we had questions or momentary concerns they put us at ease with the information we sought. It's a big purchase, but they made us feel confident in our decision by their actions, and we LOVE how the siding looks, and what it's doing for us since the install (Alside Ascend vinyl). We went ahead and replaced soffit, facia and even had new gutters formed and installed - and not once did they pressure us for those additional items. Just a great experience and we're so glad we went with SWG. Thanks!
