I stumbled into Castle Comforts after Googling locations for a specific mattress/bed that I had been looking for. I had no interest in designing my home and I had no idea that I was walking into an interior design business. I listened to the man that greeted me and we talked about the mattress that I was interested in. However, I found myself distracted by all the cool things that surrounded me inside the store. This was when our conversation turned to designs and I learned that Jim and his wife Susan, were the owners of Castle Comforts Interior Design. Jim began talking about his wife Susan and her amazing ability to transform any home just by getting to know the home owner and giving them what they wanted. I found myself mesmerized in Jim's description of Susan and her unique style of giving people what they truly wanted for their homes. I quickly lost interest in the mattress and ended up buying three black and white framed pictures of vintage wine openers. However, before I left, I scheduled an appointment to meet with Susan at my home in Manteca. I had just purchased my third home and have never had a professional designer help me design any of my homes. Late January 2014, I met Susan at my home and immediately liked her, she was everything her husband Jim had described she would be. My home was empty and I only had odds and ends sitting around on the floor, I needed everything. Susan walked around to get a feel for my home, a feel for me, and looked at the stuff I already had. I discovered that we liked the same things, she was creative, never pushy, and most of all we became very good friends. I was excited to have my home designed and I quickly discovered that Susan took the time to learn what I liked and didn't like. Susan just seemed to "get it," she "got me" and we just clicked! Over the next 9 months, Susan came to my home often with several ideas, many samples to show me, and never forced me to make any decision that I was not comfortable with. Susan transformed my home into the most amazing home I have ever had. She gave me the warmth, the coziness, and very cool furnishings and things that I always wanted, which included eleven vibrant colors through out my small home. I absolutely love my home and love Susan and Jim. Susan takes the time to really get to know you. She was never in a rush to leave and always gave 100% of her time and commitment. My family, friends, and neighbors absolutely love my home and I am always getting compliments on how beautiful and inviting my home is. I will continue to recommend her services to everyone, as she will not disappoint. Life is short and we should all do what makes us happy. I really wanted to have a home that I was comfortable in because I'm a home body. I wanted others to feel welcome and a home that I was proud of. I was in a position for the first time in my life to do this and the one thing I discovered during this transformation was that I never said "no" to any of the suggestions or recommendation Susan made, I love it all. I am very grateful to have stumbled into their store that day, as it was fate meeting Susan, Jim, and their 4-legged wonder, Sailor. I am so happy to have finally gotten my initial consultation from Castle Comforts. I have a home in Livermore, CA which has a lot of movement in the layout and the decor seemed to be jumping out at me from all corners. There is not a lot of natural light, so areas were quite dark. To say the least, I was stuck in a rut. Not knowing where to start, with no plan in place. Susan created a plan for me in almost minutes. Susan Duthie, came in and immediately changed my world. She brought light into the rooms and created a gentle flow by simply moving a couple of items. It is amazing that she was able to pick the paint colors within a couple of hours compared to me taking over a year sampling colors on my own. If I had a word of advice to friends and family, it would be to go with the pro. So much of my time and money was wasted accumulating and doing things which were not creating the environment I wanted to achieve. I would have saved so much money by going straight to the source. I worked with Susan at Castle Comforts about 1 1/2 years ago. It was the best and funnest experience. Susan helped get me out of my creative box and I love... Love the look! We did beautiful draperies throughout my house with area rugs on the hardwood floor. Susan brought out so many samples and then the decisions were made. Back at that time we had look at very larg arched mirror that I was unsure about....and then 3 weeks ago I realized it would be perfect, so now we have scheduled the installing of the mirror! My couches and chairs in my family room and living room were getting a little to worn so she had her Upholster redo the cushions and now they look new!!!
