Jesse Borrego from blood in blood out visiting Castillos

This place is great atmosphere can't beat the beer prices and brink your own bottle and they sometimes have celebrities like jesse Borrego there so highly recommend if ever in the area and that phone number is no longer in service but they are open 7 days a week until 2 a.m. open at noon

Small restaurant just outside the main gates of Lackland AFB but a must stop. Very friendly, fresh…read morefood. If u dine in- you get chips and salsa at the table. It looked like most people ordered for pick up. Don't be scared of how it looks from the outside- I read some reviews that said that and I agree 100%. Definitely going back. What we ordered- Platillo Al Pastor Enchilada plate 3 crispy tacos (beef/ picadillo) prices are very good for the times. Your plate is full. Even my 5 tacos were so full with meat that I took some out in order to add my toppings and my son put it into a tortilla to eat separately. A simple crispy taco with picadillo meat- but I still remember it well and definitely will be back for more!

Service is great. They are fast and very accommodating. I mean it's right near a military base…read more.. foot traffic is massive Overall though actually pretty good tasting food. Fast service too The only thing I can say is there is ALoT of inconsistencies with the tacos. One person orders a taco 9 am the taco is like 3 bite size. I ordered for dinner and it's the size of a burrito. ( not complaining lol...). Why was mine SOoooo huge and soooo filling lol. I dunno but I'll take it. Each time I order it's a different tortilla too... I dunno if they r supposed to use a specific type or if it's just at random. Either way... over all really good place. Love how accessible it it. And it's soooo afforadable! Large amounts at a great price The place is a good size? Very military forward, very MERIcA. Love to support businesses who support our troops!

What a pleasant roadside surprise we experienced at Route 35 Diner…read more On the way to a South Texas Ranch, a group of 7 of us met here to have lunch one Saturday morning. It's very easy to miss while traveling down IH-35 S, because by the time you see the sign "diner", you have passed it by. Although all 7 of us have been right by this place many times over the years, this was a first time experience for the group. In fact, we all failed to realize the diner was even here, as it is also overshadowed by the adjacent service station. The consensus was this was quite the unexpected surprise and each person gave a huge thumbs up for their own meal choice. Personally, I went with the poblano chicken and it was the best I've ever had, which is saying a lot. I believe I ordered this same dish dozens of times in a 60 mile radius and what set it apart was the tasty creamy sauce on top of a very flavorful chicken. The chicken was prepared differently and not the usual stringy stands of breast meat used in other local taquerias. The other dishes from the group were street tacos, shrimp quesadillas, fajitas and even a few with breakfast entrees. We all agreed this place is now on our radar and we are all coming back. A few of the waitstaff did not speak English, which was OK, because a few in our group grew up in Mexico, so the transition was easy. It also gave that authentic feeling that we are in the right place. But please don't let the language gap discourage you because the other helpers spoke English well enough for even the gringos in our group got what they wanted. So owners of this restaurant keep doing what you are doing and if you want to be busting from the seams with business, stick a huge sign in a strategic place and be prepared for more great reviews.
