I have been to east meets/meats west before but this is a first in Italy. Piping hot sour dough and sushi, on the table at the same time? It mostly works if you love fish and can park some of the norms of menu and eating. The location is in an odd marina area and google is still struggling to find it. But once found, it is almost like an island in the city. Next to the marina and city noises but separate enough to feel private.
The vibe of the place was another oddity that took a minute to get used too. On the outside deck they played a mix of techno and up tempo jazz and the wait staff zoomed in and out with meticulous delivery and retrieval of items. Eating a salmon roll in Palermo was a mind bender but it was excellent. The spicy tuna, not so much. The pork raviolis had the right amount of bite and texture and the filling to pasta ratio was spot on. The sauce, could have used a little more flavoring but it was clearly well made. The slow cooked pork entree was a mix of tenderloin and pork belly, so I am not sure how they did it. Said differently, it was lean with some wonderful lines of fat. The whole potato that was dropped on the side seemed unimaginative for such a thoughtful dish. read more
