Cute historical restaurant. Everything was fresh and made to order. Smaller " fancy " portions but very filling. Great wine selection. We loved the mojitos. Great birthday dinner.

Cast Iron on 17th has delicious food. We were very happy with the serving sizes. Their bread is amazing, with just the right balance of crumb and crust. The atmosphere is strange and doesn't match the high-end food vibe. It feels like eating in a thrift store with mismatched knickknacks everywhere. Even your salt and pepper shakers on your table don't match. They were trying to be eclectic but it didn't quite work.

The food was decent, but honestly I didn't see the value for the cost. I've had better steaks elsewhere in town for half the price. The atmosphere is pretty cool, none of the glassware at our table matched and a few other oddities that made for a fun dining experience, mostly the company we were with.

Food was expensive but was yummy. Our waitress was good and attentive. Not sure that it was worth the money - would be with lower prices.

The food was good, but it was not worth the experience. If we knew it would take so long we would have gone somewhere else. The outside seating is comprised of patio tables and chairs lining the exterior of the restaurant. It was nice at first, but there's a bee that likes to fly around which even the server was familiar with. We did outdoor seating and getting there at sunset we were sitting there in the dark with barely any light by the time our food arrived (almost two hours to get all our food for a party of four - 4 entrees and 2 appetizers total). The service was friendly but it was awkward seeing some people getting served even when they were seated after us. I loved the chicken wellington and would say that is the most unique dish at their restaurant. The food is overall good quality but this restaurant is probably better catered for pairs who are looking to celebrate a special event together. Indoor seating preferred over Outdoor seating.

Our booth was right under the speakers so it was a bit loud. I made reservations for our anniversary and specifically called out that it was. Upon arriving the hostess asked how many and she went to seat us. I had to tell her that we had reservations. We were seated right next to the kitchen doors. The server came up pretty quick and wrote his name down on the paper. No comment about our anniversary. He seemed very new to the job. The New Year's Eve menu had blackened gator and I had to try it. When it showed up I was not impressed with presentation of the 5 pieces on the plate. The flavor however was great. Good texture and not chewy. Good win. I ordered the lobster and fillet and my wife got a chicken cobb salad. The waiter had to come back to ask how I wanted my steak. When it was brought out I was very underwhelmed. The lobster tail was in pieces. The fillet was horribly cut and looked like a kid butchered it. The lobster pieces were tough and overall not good. The fillet had good flavor but overcooked. My wife enjoyed her salad. The saving grace was the GM Aaron. He stopped by to ask how everything was an I gave him an honest review. He was very open and with us and I really appreciate his feedback. We will definitely come back to try the regular menu and looking forward to Salmon Wellington around Valentine's Day.

The waiter was a young man who needs some more waiter skills. When my wife ordered some wine samples the bar tender poured them, and the waiter took it upon himself to take several strong sniffs of the glass. How WRONG is that! I ordered a 16oz Prime Rib and even asked the waiter if he felt confident, he could recommend it. He said absolutely. He brought out a Caesar Salad first and let me tell ya. I'm pretty sure the dressing came out of a bottle; the croutons came out of a bag (sorry I'm used to getting in house made croutons at decent restaurants). Then came the Prime Rib. It darned sure was NOT 16oz as I get them all the time and this was thinner and smaller. Then came the bad news. It was full of sinew and fat and worst of all I demonstrated to the waiter how one couldn't even chew it as it was tough as shoe leather and a knife and fork could not tear it apart. He offered to replace it with their Halibut which my wife ordered, and I had a bite of. The piece he delivered was about at least 30% smaller than hers. They were NOT winning any awards so far. My wife complained to me the fish was overcooked and dry. Finally, I finished with a Creme Brule which is one of my favorite desserts of all time (the finest is at a place in Spokane called Klinkindaggers). It had virtually NO vanilla bean flavor as it is supposed to have. I happen to be a "foodie" and am familar with some of the finer places to eat in Idaho. This one is one you should take a pass on. There are so many other options in Idaho Falls and at least have decent food. Definitely NOT worth their prices either that's for sure.

April 2026 Idaho Falls, Idaho…read more I was surprised to see this place is attached to a hotel when I drove up. Typically I do not eat at restaurants that are attached to a hotel. However, Yelp told me it was a 4.3 star place to eat. I asked if they had any nonalcoholic beers. The waiter brings me a can of beer to show me what it is. When I tell him that I will have it. He says well I'll just take it back and put it in a glass. So they bring me a 16 ounce glass with the beer poured in and it only filled 12 ounces. I ordered the Nacho Mama's Dip. It is a chicken nacho dip. The waiter told me it was a large portion so I am eating that just as my meal. My husband ordered the fish and chips. When you walk in the front door, the bar is right there. Pretty large bar for one to sit and enjoy a drink or a meal. To the right our booths and high tables that line the wall as well as some booths in the middle of the restaurant that make you feel like you are sitting under a gazebo. There are tables and booths on the far wall as well. The tables are cut to appear like a live edge wood top table. The booths sit too low and the table sits high. Even my husband who is 6'2 felt an imbalance with the table to chair. My nachos come out and the cheese sauce is dripping off the side of the dish. It is an absolute mess. The nacho chips are off to the side. The toppings consist of black olives and onions with four pieces of diced tomatoes. Accompanied by a side plastic dish is salsa, sour cream, and guacamole. The guacamole is definitely not homemade. My biggest complaint is the cheese sauce is definitely from a can. The cheese that they did put on the nachos was a slice of cheese that was not even melted. See picture. Reminds me that I am eating in a restaurant attached to a hotel. There are no beans. The chicken is mixed in with the cheese sauce. And it is sparingly there. This dish is absolutely disgusting! The fish and chips were terrible. They're served in a basket with four pieces of fish and they sit upon fresh cut fries. The fish was not good. The batter has a odd taste. Perhaps the oil it is fried in? I think I would've been better off going to Culver's and having their fish platter. Although my beYr was in a can, it was very cold. It was truly the best part of my meal. I am so disappointed that yelp led me to this place. This is my warning to others. Stay away. We had two completely different meals and neither of them were good.
