This was my first time dining at Caspian Cafe. I was very surprised at how busy it was for a Monday evening! There is a wraparound parking lot with plenty of parking spaces available. Caspian Cafe is a family run restaurant. It's close to the highway (I-25) at the Garden of The Gods exit. I made a reservation for a Monday evening dinner and feel fortunate that I did. Again, surprised at how busy it was for a weekday. So, I do recommend reservations. My waitress was very friendly and personable. She told me that it was her second shift since starting employment there. I noticed some "rookie" mistakes. However, I feel that she did a great job. I was most impressed with how friendly she was. My waitress was also knowledgeable about entree options on the menu and they do have a variety to choose from! I was set on the Persian Chicken but changed my mind after the waitress told me that the Lamb Tangine with Apricots is delicious and that she has tried it before. So glad that I settled on the Lamb Tangine because it was delicious!! The portion size is plenty and will fill you up. Be careful not to fill up on bread with olive oil and vinegar for dipping. Also, I recommend an appetizer. I chose Baba Ganoush. It's served with small pieces of pita bread. Their Baba Ganoush isn't bad. I've had better. I prefer a creamier BG. Theirs is chunky. I passed on dessert. They have some nice dessert options. I probably would've chosen a dessert if I wasn't running somewhat behind for an event in downtown Springs. Overall, my experience was fantastic here. I will definitely return for more delicious Mediterranean food. I love how this place is intimate and family run. My final bill of sale was reasonable as well. Check out Caspian Cafe id you haven't been here before. Also, if you're passing through town or traveling to another destination, this isn't a bad option at all. If you have time to spare, get off on this exit, kick back and relax to enjoy some quality Mediterranean food. I hope you will be pleased with your experience here. My husband and I had a wonderful dining experience at Caspian Cafe! We were greeted warmly by the staff and promptly seated. Our waitress told us about the dinner specials which all sounded delicious. We ended up getting the Prime Rib for one of the dishes which was tender and perfectly cooked. The mashed potatoes were particularly delicious! We shared the spanakopita as an appetizer which was freshly made. They were slightly different that the traditional spanakopita (cut from a larger portion and with a sauce) but still good. I also ordered the gyro platter which seemed to be a popular choice with other tables too! While I'd love for more pita bread, everything was fresh and delicious! The tzatziki was particularly good. 4.5 stars. I have no idea why this place doesn't have higher reviews because it is really good! My friend and I visited for a late lunch/early dinner kind of meal. The interior is very cute and definitely gives off old, royal Mediterranean elite vibes. It is on the darker side so maybe more lights to see your dining partner and food would be nice. Now our eyes were definitely more hungry than our stomachs because we ordered quite a lot of things and finished like 40% of them. So PSA: portions are generous and everything on the menu is shareable among 2-3 people. We got the feta crisps, Mediterranean pizza and the sambousek to share from the appetizer sections. Honestly, it's hard to choose our favorite but I would say the feta chips just narrowly beat the sambousek which narrowly beat the pizza. I definitely agree that the feta crisps are a house favorite. It's basically pita bread stuffed with feta cheese and a mayo based sauce. They melt in your mouth. The sambousek is like an Indian pattice with multiple layers of filo dough packed with meat, veggies and some very interesting seeds. The sauce it came in, was a little salty to my taste, but in small quantities, was good with the meat stuffing. Finally, the pizza was very simple but delicious with veggies and olives. We would've be happy if we had just taken the pizza but the other apps engaged our palates a little more. From the soup and salad section, we got the avgolemono soup which was the soup of the day, and the Greek country salad with gyro meat. Both were delicious! This is my first time having avgolemono soup and I would've sworn there is cream. But there isn't! It's a soup of creamy deliciousness with chicken, veggies, lemon and dill. I think this is right up there as one of my most favorite soups ever. The country salad was VERY fresh with lots of cheese and veggies. Almost gave a cleansing feel to the palate. The gyro meat was delicious. Just the right flavor and consistency. Really really good. For the entree, we got the pasta special - linguine in a creamy Alfredo like sauce with tomatoes, mushrooms and artichoke with citrus grilled horse shrimp. Since I love spicy flavors, I would've liked a little kick in the pasta or some pepper on top. But that aside, the pasta was delicious!! The sauce was very good and the shrimp was fantastic!! I will have this again if they serve it. Finally, for dessert, we got the limoncello mascarpone cake and this might be one of the best desserts I've had! The sponge cake was spongy, light, and full of that lemony goodness I associate with limoncello. The mascarpone cheese filling was yummy and the white chocolate on top was just the right amount of sweet. The accompanying raspberry sauce was delicious as was the combination of whipped cream with strawberries on the side. My friend also got the Italian breze with amaretto and it was so so good! It reminded me of dark chocolate filled with a cherry center. All in all, a very satisfactory meal. Our server was very nice and helpful. Definitely come here and check out their food. We were greeted at the door by a friendly young lady who asked us to wait a moment while a table was prepared for us. Everything about the Caspian Cafe spoke to its old world style and grace. The lights were low but the room wasn't too dark. The space was comfortable and the noise level was low. For drinks, our friend ordered a Lavender Gin Blossom martini and my wife had a Margarita on the rocks. Both were super delicious. Our appetizers were the Baba Ghanouj and a plate of almonds, apricots, olives & cheese. So tasty and portions were just right for the three of us. Our dining companion had a lovely salad and my wife and I shared the huge gyro platter. Everything was so good and so much to eat and enjoy. This is a wonderful, if somewhat expensive, restaurant and I highly recommend it! Go at lunch for lower prices. We arrived at Caspian Cafe just after opening on a Saturday morning - we were the first customers there. We were greeted and seated immediately and our waiter, Sean, brought waters and told us the specials. We ordered iced tea and the Feta Crisps while we decided on our other choices. (The tea was passion-fruit-flavored which was a surprise but tasty.) Since we hadn't visited Caspian's in 6 years, we decided to try several items and share them. We ordered a small Greek salad and the Veggie Caspian sandwich to complete our meal. The Feta Crisps (noted on the menu as a customer favorite) were delicious. Even my hubby, who's not a big feta cheese fan, loved the combination of feta and ricotta cheeses toasted between pita bread and served with a delicious sauce. (We took pics but forgot until we'd already started eating!) The bread basket was full of light, fluffy, delicious bread and was served with a light olive oil combined with basalmic vinegar. We devoured the 1st basket and requested a second. (I wish there'd been salt on the table, but was too busy eating bread to ask for some.) The Greek salad and sandwich came out together. Both were excellent. The Greek farm salad was loaded with feta and cucumbers and tomato and kalamata olives and perfectly seasoned with a light olive oil based dressing. The Veggie Caspian sandwich was also very good, but the accompanying fries stole the show - lightly battered and seasoned so well!! We placed a to-go order to take home to our son. Came here for dinner while visiting and had a great experience here! It's got a great ambience and was was very nicely decorated. The service was good. We came in without reservations and were seated quickly. Our waiter was prompt and friendly, made sure to check up on us and made some recommendations. I really enjoyed the food. My family and I ordered a couple specials our waiter told us that weren't on the menu. I had linguine with shrimp in Chardonnay cream sauce and my family shared prime rib and mussels. A great place to come either before or after visiting Garden of the Gods. Located only 10 minutes away, the food is spectacular and affordable. I ordered their Moules Mariniere, which is mussels steamed in a white-wine sauce. It is about a pound of mussels, and is served with a side of bread/rice. I really enjoyed my meal and would order it again. All food is served with freshly baked bread and herb-infused olive oil. Our waitress was very friendly and checked in with us regularly. Reservation is highly encouraged though we did not have trouble getting a table when we came. In response to COVID, they have placed the tables far away from each other, which I highly appreciated. read more

I am torn on Caspian Cafe. My last visit to this restaurant was MANY years ago. My remembrance of that visit was good food and a bit pricey. In many ways my visit last week is still the same. But let's give the whole story. The family was looking for something we had not done for a while. I went down the list on OpenTable and saw Caspian Cafe. Our daughter's first question was what do they have for dessert. I went through the dessert list and she said let's go. Her dinner was going to be dessert and she is the boss (at least sometimes) They have a decent menu. They give a plate of bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar to start. The bread was a baguette that they sliced and probably meant to warm in the oven. Warm bread is always good but this was a little bit like toast a bit crunchy and a bit dry for me, it was just OK. Dipping the bread into the olive oil and balsamic, the balsamic was very overpowering making me really not enjoy the bread dipping but the bread was dry and had a little crust/crunch so it needed the olive oil. For me ok at best. Moving on... we first ordered the tzatziki appetizer. It was great, included pita quarters, tomatoes. Olives. It was really good..the problem (and this seems to be true for every restaurant that has pita as a part of the appetizer)...you never get enough pita. Then you have to ask for more....for an additional cost. Caspian is no different. But it was good. Then the mains...My wife order the Soup of the day it was a tomato basil bisque. It was creamy and she liked it. Her plan was to have soup and then room for dessert. However after the second order of pita bread the soup and the appetizer filled her up. I ordered the gyro platter with the lamb/beef gyro mix it was great! You get tomatoes onions, more tzatziki and (Sadly for me) pita quarters. This may be good for some but (and here is a hint) when you order this ask for whole pitas so you can make gyros. I asked for that, of course an extra charge . That being said, the plate was great! I'll happily get this again, the meat was flavorful and tender.mmmmmm! I had a couple martinis and at the end an Irish coffee. They have raspberry iced tea and another slightly flavored iced tea (not just normal ice tea...why can't restaurants just have regular iced tea?) My wife ended up with club soda because she wanted just a normal iced tea.. my wife and I split the lemoncello mascarpone cake. I thought it was light, lemony, moist and tasty .. very worth getting! My daughter got the Saragli Greek nut roll she had half of it she said she liked it I had a bite it was tasty similar to baklava. Service was fine, I can't complain, but it was nothing to write home about. By the time we finished dinner the place was packed, it is clearly popular and really the food was good.. even though for me the bread seemed a little toasted, the olive oil and balsamic was so so, not giving enough pita and charging for extra left me wanting. So again, I came out feeling good food but bit pricey...but we will probably go back again. So all that leaves me torn on the Caspian Cafe... but it's definitely worth you giving it a try! Plus I'd suggest using OpenTable for reservations as it was packed as we left. read more

THIS REVIEW IS BASED ON THE SERVICE - THERE WAS NONE ( that one star should be zero) We got seated right away since there was no wait time. We were pointed towards a table and at no point did anyone else approach after that. At least three different servers went around or near our table but at no point did they stop; several times they waited on the tables around us and in some instances simply dropping off items or checking in. But at no point during this 20min period did they direct their attention to us, not even to get out drink order. After that long with no explanation the only thing to do is leave. Maybe it's just me but usually at least a check in or drop by for drink order is needed or if they're super busy then approaching and letting customers know what's going on. Hopefully this isn't a pattern and if it is then it should get fixed so future customers don't feel the need to leave due to poor customer service read more

The food is excellent. The servers are competent and polite. Been coming here for years and they never fail to provide a great meal. They are not inexpensive, but the food is worth it. The portions are large and filling. You can taste the quality of the food they prepare. These days we order in pretty much everything, and often times the eating out experience is less that you would get at the actual restaurant. But, not with Caspian Cafe! The food is always hot, and just as delicious as if we were there. No skimping on the take-out order portions! Our go to is the Lamb Tangine with Almonds and Apricots, Honey & Almond Chicken, Persian Chicken in Walnut Sauce, and the Moussaka. But, anything we've ordered has been fantastic. It is slightly more upscale and I recommend that you make reservations, as we did on this Friday night. When we arrived at 6 o'clock every table was already full. For starters our server brought us sourdough bread with olive oil, balsamic and fresh ground pepper. The bread was very fresh and very delicious. I ordered a glass of white wine and while I have read comments about their wine prices being high, my glass of wine was $6 which seems to me to be about the standard price for that size glass. I don't eat pasta very often but when she went through the three specials for the day she mentioned a linguine with shrimp, artichoke hearts, tomatoes, and mushrooms and I just had to give it a try. It was simply divine. Now, my disclaimer is you need to like garlic, or if you are on a date make sure you both eat garlic, because it left me with garlic mouth, but it was SO freaking good. It would not have reheated well so I was forced to eat every bite, because it was too good to leave behind, and it was a good sized serving. $23.95. One friend ordered the stuffed pork chop and the other order the gyros plate. Both of them loved their food as well. I tried to some of the gyros meat. Often I don't like lamb because it's too gamey, but this was delicious, and not gamey in the slightest. I also tried the mashed potatoes which were some of the best mashed potatoes I've ever tasted. The belly dancer was a nice addition to the evening. Not your ordinary experience, but well worth it. I didn't think that the prices were out of line, given what we ordered. The calamari was very strange with a mediterranean twist of olives and tomatoes mixed with the calamari. The temperature and flavor was lacking. I was hopeful with the gyro plate. I would say it was average. The meat and the pita is what it had best going for it. The tzaki sauce was a thick consistency-not good. Overall it was not a total disappointment but it was enough I would likely not go back. The best thing going for this place was the waitress-Shannon. She was very cordial, polite and friendly. Caspian Cafe was a wonderful find for lunch. It's located right next to a large hotel and a major road, but it still has a quiet atmosphere. There's a nice little garden and outdoor seating area out front. We wanted to sit there, but there was already a fairly large group there, and due to social distancing guidelines, no additional tables could be seated there. The interior decor was nice. It has a Mediterranean feel to it as you might expect. When we arrived, the hostess asked us if we had a reservation. We said no, she took our name and (somewhat oddly) also our phone number. Hope we don't get spam calls! I wasn't too adventurous on this visit. I just went for the gyro sandwich. It was exactly what I wanted. It came with a salad and the right amount of Greek vinaigrette. The gyro meat was well-seasoned, juicy, and fresh. The only thing that kept this from a 5-star review was that it seemed none of the employees were familiar with the kids menu that is printed right on the back of the main menu. We ordered the kids pasta, which is supposed to come with grilled chicken. It says so on the menu. Included, not extra. When the pasta came out, no chicken. When we asked about it, the waitress said it would cost extra because we didn't order chicken. When I pointed it out on the menu, she was puzzled and went to ask a fellow waitress and then the kitchen staff and then a manager. Finally, we got a bowl of grilled chicken at no extra cost.
