This is a kitschy little tourist trap in the unlikely spot of Jackson, Tennessee. It is centered around a restaurant and a museum for trains and the home of Casey Jones. First, I have to confess that I didn't even know that Casey Jones was a real human being, I just knew the name from the Grateful Dead song. But next to the museum, they have the actual home of the real-life Casey Jones. If you have an electric vehicle, there are plenty of chargers on the property to charge your vehicle. I would hazard a guess that there are not a lot of other options in Jackson, Tennessee. This tourist trap is conveniently located just off of the interstate and if you are in Jackson, Tennessee, it is worth stopping by and checking out. All in all, it is a pretty cool place to check out if you are in the area or just passing through. I would give it four stars as an overall rating. read more

My kiddo loves trains, and the Casey Jones story. So we made a trek to check it out and turned it into a weekend. I thought the museum was cool, with a lot of Casey Jones' personal items. Had an engine similar to Casey's that you could check out and take pictures with. Afterwards went and saw Casey Jones house, that was moved from its original location. It wasn't quite as exciting because it had much of it glassed up. Then we went to Casey Jones' actual grave and paid our respects. The grave is not onsite, and it's problematic to get to. I thought the restaurant was nice, and the food was better than expected. Wifey loved the shopping in the village. We had a good time and will go back maybe as a weekend trip. read more

Such a cute stop. We were driving cross country when we stumbled on this adorable stop. A nice place to walk around, shop, eat and don't forget dessert (including a candy shop). My only complaint for the diner/buffet.... It was seriously staffed and yet the staff just wanted to talk with each other. No one wanted to help the customers. This was such a new experience post Covid... lots of employees. But in true today fashion, no one wanted to work. read more

The country store (restaurant) is a must visit buffet if you like home cooked style food. Their 'bread' specialty is the flat/fried cornbread (flap jacks, if you will). Delicious! I've always found all of the food on the buffet to be tasty. read more

This place looks like it could be fun, but it is greasy and filthy with greasy goo on the buffet and on the floors. With cobble stone floors and rough sawn plank walls, a once a year closing for scrub down seems necessary. This place has great broasted chicken and fresh slaw and cucumber salad, but so does kroger down the street. Go to the sushi place with the habachi grill or better yet, Redbones! I'm from Texas so I know what I'm talking about when it comes to southern food. The fried chicken tasted like my middleschools it was bland,dry,and Luke warm. Mashed potatoes tasted like they were straight out the packet. Macaroni and cheese tasted extremely processed. Green beans were luke warm and out the can. So all in all if you want some good country food keep it safe and go to Cracker Barrel this is a disgrace to southern women my grandma is smacking me in her grave right now. read more

Casey Jones Village is the tourist trap of Jackson...even if you are a local Jacksonian such as myself, you can't help but to love this place. I have personal ties to the place currently because my grandmother works in the gift shop. That doesn't make me any more partial to it than I was before she started here though. I've been coming to Casey Jones Village since I was a tiny child to now at almost 27 years old. When I was younger, I used to camp out in front of one of the stores called Southern Magnolia to get my Beanie Babies fix. They would come out with new ones, and my mother and I would come out to wait til the store opened like we were about to do some black Friday shopping. In the back of Casey Jones Village they have a little outdoor ampitheatre where I would go to Nexus with my church youth group to watch Christian rock band concerts. That was a lot of fun to do during the warm weather. I have ate at the buffet more times than I would like to admit. They always have great home cooked Southern cuisine. If you are a tourist who has the pleasure of rolling through small town USA, come and check this buffet out! You can't get any more Southern authentic than this. If you want to grab a little Southern gift for a loved one, the gift shop has tons of little nicnacks to choose from. I've gotten jewelry from there a few times. I always love what I pick out. Did I mention there is an ice cream parlor? Just like from the old days. They serve hand dipped milkshakes, malts, and ice cream in many various flavors. Make sure to check out Casey Jones's museum and house. That's the main attraction. Enjoy. read more

Casey Jones' buffet: our party was 4 adults and one child. This is a different style of buffet. You're given a menu from which to choose 3 meats and 4 veggies. We had the fried chicken, pot roast,and turkey. All were excellent. For our veggies we had sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes with gravy, cabbage and Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was delightful. The service was quick and professional The food is served to the table so be prepared to make group decisions. The deserts were heavenly. The cookie and milk is a huge chocolate chip cookie everything was delicious We will be back.! read more

It is okay. They are progressively getting worse here. The last time I went to the to-go side and they had catfish nuggets instead of catfish fillets. That's gross. I am not sure who told them to serve the white cheddar Mac n cheese, but it is a no go. The regular Mac and cheese was the only reason I would go. read more

Certainly not the best restaurant in Jackson. Everything tastes like it's out of a can. If you want something local and great, try Burrito Kick across the street on the other side of 45 less than 3 minutes away. This place is nothing more than a tourist attraction. read more

I wanted to buy a Casey Jones train for my friend's kid who is obsessed with "choo choos". However, they didn't have a single toy train that said Casey Jones or anything! They did have the entire line of Thomas the Train stuff....which he already has....so I bought a Casey Jones kids book. There's also a video and then tour of Casey Jones house but unfortunately didn't have time to do that although it looked cool. As I was leaving I saw a little boy going in with his mom and he was skipping inside like it was the best day EVER so I would say if you have a kid that likes "choo choos" you should stop. read more

We have driven past here for 12 years and finally stopped as Cousin Sheila all but demanded it. It was great, we rode the cannon ball express, learnt a lot about our hero Casey, wandered the shops, mosied around the cafe and all it's edibles...and even found a geocache. All good family fun and great value, a good pit-stop on the way to Memphis. read more

30 cars from the Central Arkansas Corvette Club stopped at Casey Jones Village for lunch last October on our way to the Smoky Mountains. Everyone was super friendly and the food buffet was fantastic. We wouldn't pass by here without stopping for a meal and to say hello to Alison and the others. We are coming thru again about 11:00am on October 20, 2011 for a meal and will be having a mini Corvette show in the parking lot during our visit. Went yesterday. This place is all around a good stop. Good food and great history at a low price. The tickets for the tour are 6.50 if I'm correct and I think kids are free. Start the tour by watching a 9 1/2 minute video about Casey Jones life. Then move to the other parts. You get to tour his house, the actual museum and a train where you can ring the bell. The tour is self guided there is no tour guide. The tour can last 30 minutes to an hour depending on your speed. There is a gift shop in the museum area with mostly touristy stuff and a bunch of money wasting items tourist feed off. There is a play area for kids and they can play with a train set and watch a movie. Next, head across the way to the country buffett. Ten bucks a person here but there is lots of good food. Catfish, cobbler, greens, potatos, corn, chicken and other southern food. After you get stuffed like a tick head on down the way to a few of the shops in the shopping center. Lots more money wasting crap tourist go crazy for. There is a mini golf course here as well with a Casey Jones theme. Despite the sarcasm this place is fun and there is lots of history at a low price. The history doesn't stop with trains. Even the bathroom doors in the visitor/museum area are 10ft tall and made from actual slave labor in the 1800's. Vintage signs hanging in the bathroom with one reading, "toilet use, 5cents" from a long time ago. There is even an old sign that used to hang on a train that reads, "do not flush toilet when train is not moving to be curtious to other passengers". This is definately a great stop and you get a very real sense of Americas yesteryears. In the visitor center look for a pamplet advertising a car museum right down the street. It has actual cars from movies including Waynes World, Ghostbusters and more. Only 5 bucks a pop at the car museum. read more
