I had the pork belly and egg bowl, very filling, the textures are lovely and it packs a nice spicy punch flavour. My issue here was the service. It took about 10min to get seated, even though there were at least 4 tables open. Then another 20 to get drinks, which the waitress promptly forgot and had to retake the whole order. We ended up flagging down another waiter to finally bring us some water after 40min waiting. We were sitting right in front of the pass, so we saw our food come out. Now, it took the waitress 10min just to see the food there and another 5 to figure out / remember where it was headed. My 7 year old daughter ended up screaming HERE, THAT'S MINE! so we could receive our food. All and all, the food is amazing and will definitely come back.... Once you re-train the waiting staff.

Basically gastropub food with spicy Asian influences, mostly in the form of kimchi and sriracha sauce added to various staples like truly excellent burgers and tacos. Over the last year, they've added in a full on menu of various "bowls" - mostly a handful of toppings strewn about on top of rice, salads, and a slew of coffee drinks. The influences from various Asian cultures continues, with a bit of Korean, a bit of Thai, a bit of this, a bit of that. But, as they've been more widely discovered by the local porteño community instead of just expats, they've also dumbed down the spice level of things - on my most recent visit two dishes were so lacking in spice and so sweet they could have come out of any neighborhood cafe/patisserie on the ladies-who-lunch strips of Recoleta. Plus, prices seem to have crept up by close on 50% over the last year. Service has gone from friendly and welcoming to a strange hipster-ish style that's neither of those. I don't begrudge them success, but its a shame the success has come at such a cost and price.

Once inside, the first thing that came to my attention once I got the menu was the wide array of different options you can choose from. Coffee wise you can get all the popular ones (latte, cappuccino, etc) but they also serve Irish coffee, baileys coffee and a lot more... Furthermore, the food menu is huge too, from simple toasts to croque monsieur, sandwiches (they have pastrami), salads and various pastries. This is the main reason why I gave them an extra star and why I think I'll come back in the near future. Myself, I just had some toasts, which were all right, and a latte which was quite good. All in all it's a good option if you're in the neighborhood as there aren't similar places in that area. Ohh and the service was great which is always a plus!

Self seating and we waited about 5 minutes before a table opened up outside next to the Gomero de la Recpoleta (massive rubber tree). We've come to accept that slower service is part of the process in this city and no exception here. Our waiter, who seemed to have been working here (along with many of his colleagues) for some time came out after a bit of time to drop off menus. (dressed in throwback/formal Server uniforms which was a nice touch.) The options are endless and we were a bit overwhelmed but quickly focused on the Milanese as this was the dish we were looking to try. You can order what appeared to be a combo which includes drinks (coffee/soft drink etc) and dessert which we thought we did. We ordered a Milanese and Neapolitan Milanese. Sides were fries on one and salad on the other. Enjoyed the Neapolitan as it came with tomato sauce and cheese. Salad was tasty. Milanese was okay. We did pair them with an Imperial Lager (local draft) that came out in a cool mug. We weren't offered the dessert option and didn't bother to ask as we needed to leave. Service was friendly and engaged and, as mentioned, slower so make sure you have time. Located in Recoleta, the oldest restaurant (over 150 years old) in Buenos Aires with a good mix of Locals and Tourists and a good one for a taste of Buenos Aires.

You pretty much grab a table when one opens up, and depending on timing, you might end up sharing. Service is very laid back, with staff floating around in no real rush, which fits the atmosphere. Ordering iced coffee took a minute until I landed on "cafe frío," but once that was sorted, it hit the spot. It's less about the food or drinks and more about soaking in the setting, so soak away and enjoy.

Not as great as the other great historic bars of Buenos Aires…read more But great historic bars in Buenos Aires are pretty good. This is a mortal and not a god, But it is a fine fine mortal. * * * There is a major campaign in Buenos Aires to preserve the great cafeterias and bars of the Golden Age of that city. There is government money behind some of this. There are wonderful entrepreneurs who truly believe in what they are doing behind all of this Most of the rescued places are five star all the way. This one is merely four star - but that makes it better than many places in your home town. * * * They don't have a house vermouth here. The waitress told me the founders of the house invented La Fuerza vermouth, which is arguably the greatest commercial vermouth in Argentina. A little internet research showed she was full of petunias. La Fuerza was invented in Mendoza and not in Buenos Aires, by four people who do not have the same name as the person who created the Los Galgos Bar. But I think the waitress was sincere, and really believed her story. I was not unhappy to be drinking La Fuerza regardless of who invented it. La Fuerza is simply good stuff. * * * Los Galgos is more run down than the bars that have seen all-out restorations. From the floor up to the six foot level, everything looks wonderful. A camera could tell great stories about the room. But like many historic Argentine bars, this is a thirty foot high room. Everything from Foot Seven to Foot 30 is cheap awful industrial that has seen a lot of wear and tear. You feel like you are in a grungy warehouse that has had water damage. You go into the great restoration bars and everything you see is magical. * * * None of these problems have any relevance to what is going on in the kitchen. The cooking here is just fantabulous. I had an absolutely amazing salami platter/sandwich The salami was on millefeuille rather than standard bread. Argentine millefeuille when it is good is to die for. The millefeuille was at the top of the millefeuille game. The combo came with first rate green peppers. (Argentine sweet peppers of any color are better than what you get in the U.S.) Superlative olives Good enough grapes and a nifty mustard. I was one happy camper. * * * Normally when I am in gastronomic bliss, My eyes tend to roll up to the ceiling. I had to avoid that here because the ceiling was great at destroying the mood. But if I kept my focus narrowly on my plate or on my lovely wife, I could do okay. But food this good deserves to be rewarded ... Particularly if you are washing everything down with La Fuerza.
