Messed up our take-out order, making one entree with chicken instead of steak, and completely forgetting to include one of the items in my daughter's order. My husband's "t-bone steak" was less than a centimeter thick and overcooked. The baked potato was half-raw. Disappointing....chips served cold, salsa was mild and flavorless. I had the beef fajitas and they were anything, but sizzling when they came out. The meat was tough, hard to chew. The fajitas overall lacked any sort of authentic flavor. My husband had enchiladas suizas and he said the sauce was bland and flavorless. Service was so so and the bright lighting in the restaurant was anything, but relaxing. Looking for good Mexican food, I would recommend you look elsewhere. read more

Visited last week and was impressed with the food and how far it has come since opening up. If I would have to give any criticism it would be there are workers standing around and socializing by the hostess desk. Awesome food. Authentic Mexican food. I had the T-Bone and shrimp which was spectacular. The serving sizes are great for the price you pay and is enough to take some home for an extra meal the next day. I highly recommend this place. And will come there again when I am in town. read more

* Worst attempt at Mexican cuisine we have ever had the misfortune of tasting! * One star only because it won't let me put none, or better yet negative stars! * On a Thursday at 3pm with only one other couple at a table the service was slow, unhelpful, and thoroughly useless. * Wife and I both ordered a meal and an alacarte item... Her alacarte and both my selections came out barely warm... Only her taquitos were hot. After several minutes trying to obtain our waiters attention - he did take the food and bring out hot replacements shortly there after. * "Steak" in the taquitos was Roast - not skirt or flank steak as is customary. * Red "sauce" on my burrito and enchilada (ordered the #19) tasted like it came from a can of Chef Boyardee. Wife and I are from Texas - and this place is nothing like Mexican food! Bottom line - if you want Mexican food in Otsego - head for the boarder / 4th meal at Taco Bell! read more

Ordered the Guisado de Puerco the pork was so tender it was falling apart. This dish was not spicy a very mild green sauce that had a citrus flavor it was delicious! We tried a glass of sangria but was not impressed with presentation just chilled wine in a glass no ice or garnish, but maybe that's how authentic Mexican Sangria comes. read more

Food isn't consistent. For the most part it's good. The table salsa they give you is tomato water, not a fan. They are fast to bring your food out and your drink is rarely empty. The girls at the counter always seem bothered you're there. read more

I don't like giving bad reviews to businesses, especially giving one stars..But this place I'll make an exception for. Only good thing about this place, our 12 top table was able to get right in and seated, which is kinda surprising especially getting there around the dinner rush. So with the one good thing, lets get on to the bad.. First off, right when I sat down I ordered a water, and a maragrita. The water took about 5 minutes, and when she dropped it off she said that the maragrita would be right out. After 45 minutes and my food already delivered I told her to never mind the margarita, and don't make it if it hasn't already been made. She said "okay, sorry." Second, I've never experienced such rude waitstaff. Never once smiled, never a hello, just a "What do you want?" Me and my table didn't feel welcomed once. Third, the food. When we all ordered it was all over the place, she went from one end to the table to the next taking both food and drink orders at the same time. And when the food came out it too was also all over the place, some got their food 10 minutes after ordering, others a half hour. I ordered the Burrito California, which came with of course, Guac, it was actually pretty good minus the chicken and the raw and or hard pieces. Sadly, I will not be coming back here ever again. If you can't at least give good service, or at lease flash a smile, you shouldn't be in the food industry serving people, and giving customer service. read more

Casa Real is very good standard American Mexican. I've been here several times and the service is always incredibly prompt. And yes, the food does come out amazingly fast, so fast that you know it's pre prepared - while that's not my favorite part I think it's very common, especially for Mexican food. The complimentary homemade salsa is yummy and they usually have a very reasonably priced lunch special that includes beans and rice. Today I had the Chicken Burrito Real which was delicious. I've only been for lunch, but it's a great choice for a quick, delicious and reasonably priced meal. read more

My wife and I stopped in for lunch, we were the first customers of the day. We were promptly seated, by a hostess who seemed somewhat unpleasant or put out. Our server was friendly and took our order right away. However, once the food was delivered, she paid no attention to us while we ate our food. She hung out outside of the building for the duration of our meal. She didn't bother to check on us once. She missed our drink refill opportunity as well as the typical check-in to see if everything tasted okay. We have eaten here many occasions previously and the service was better in the past. I just pay more attention to the details because I now rate and review. The food is good here at Casa Real and I am sure we will visit again. The portions are large. I always seem to need a to go box. Today there were just a few misses. All of which I can look past. read more

I had high hopes while being back in Michigan on vacation - I've been living in Texas for 4 years so I know what legitimate Mexican is like. First off - I went in understanding I'm not down in the Rio Grande Valley. Home of the best Mexican food this side of the border. Putting that aside I asked the wait staff if they had Charro beans - any real Mexican place will carry Charro Beans...on to the next thing I asked if they carried Menudo -- no. Again, not surprised. The wait staff was pretty hilarious, and provided great service. Moving on. The selection was amazing -- many items you wouldn't normally find in a Mexican themed Restaurant in Michigan. I am excited again, but remembering we don't have "Wet Burritos" in Texas (because it's a Northern / Mid West thing) . I ordered a "Burrito Grande" - I was impressed with the size, it was a very good size portion. The food was delicious. All in all - considering the location and the majority of the population around here being white -- I give it 4 stars for the portions and the selections. While it's not what I would consider authentic food from Mexico, it is a win for Otsego. Edit: The prices were really reasonable -- a table of 6 only came up to $40. At our Favorite location in Austin we easily spend $40 for two of us. read more

The bean dip was actually bean soup and wouldn't stay on the chips. Everything on the enchilada platter was bland, cold, and tasted left over. They were packing people in and sitting them within 3 ft apart from other people. Some tables were closer than that. Every single table in the restaurant was full and you could barely walk around, It was very uncomfortable and not an enjoyable experience. The food was cold as well. read more

I had avoided this place because my son had been there soon after they opened and said the food was crap. He gave it another try recently, and liked it. Apparently, they have hired a new chef and he came to our table on this visit and was eager to please. The food came out amazingly fast, and tasted fresh. We were in for a late lunch on a Saturday, so the place wasn't packed, but it wasn't empty, either. I would compare the food, prices and service with the Maya restaurant on South Westnedge. Since Casa Real is so much closer to home, I will probably be back. I would encourage people who didn't like it a while back to give them another try. read more

I've been there a few times now and there has only been one time when there was an issue with the food. The staff made it right and also gave us a discount so it worked out ok. The food is good.
