I went to Puga since I had read about in the Michelin guide. When we arrived we were greeted by a nice waiter. However his English was not the best. We asked for a tasting menu and thereby let the kitchen decide. We got some very nice ham, some incredible shrimps and some good fried fish as well. I will definitely recommend Casa Puga to my friends who are visiting Almería and needs a good cheap dinner read more

This place is awesome. I walked by and was feeling too shy, awkward and out of place to go in -- being a solo business traveler on a Saturday night in a Spanish town when everyone is out in couples and/or posses. Luckily, I mustered up enough swagger to stroll in solo and belly up to the bar and order a glass of wine in Spanish. The old dudes behind the bar are great people. They didn't make me feel uncomfortable. They brought me tapas of sauteed mushrooms; freshly sliced ham; tomatoes and olives; scrambled eggs with more amazing ham; some sort of fried fish; along with 3-4 glasses of 2006 Faustino Rioja. When I finally called it quits, the bill was 15 Euros. Great place. Everyone was watching a soccer game. Very kind, genuine and authentic establishment. read more

Nice charismatic place but overated food. Only for a beer I would come back. I had monkfish (rape) and salmonetes. Good quality fishes but poorly done. Very average. The free tapa with the beer tasted awful (lomo). The sitting at the table policy (you can only sit if you order raciones) was rudely explained to me. Still, as I said before, the place has charm but..that's their only asset. Enjoy :) read more
