What a haven for weary travelers! We stayed here one night before crossing over to Isla Mujeres. The room was quite large and the bed was very comfortable. There were lovely macrame art pieces everywhere, and they fit well with the rough wood of the modern, minimalist, decor.
We might have been the only ones to eat at the restaurant, (Tuesday night). The menu was tiny, just a chalkboard with a big 23$ on it, and some mostly illegible scribbles, but the gist of it is, they had 4 different tacos to offer. We had two of each type and were pleasantly and cheaply fed. Beers were the same price. We left a tip in the same amount as our bill and felt quite right about it.
Fell asleep to Netflix (took us a hot minute to figure out how to make it work in English) and in the morning went down for breakfast (included in the price!) but we're told since it had rained so much, they would bring it to our room instead. A few minutes later, opening the knock at the door found a lovely woman carrying a tray full of delights. Tall glasses of fresh squeezed Orange juice, Mexican coffee (with piloncillo, orange, and cinnamon), yogurt and granola, and several bite sized slices of papaya and pineapple. Lovely! We tucked in and felt this was a very acceptable breakfast offering. But, just after we finished, another knock at the door brought another round: this time, lovely chayote and cheese omelette, a nice serving of refried black beans sprinkled with dried ground chili and a tiny bit of hard white cheese. Plus a whole basket of toast triangles. Wow! Such a great place! We could have stayed longer but our next adventure awaited. I would definitely recommend this hotel again and plan on staying here whenever I'm in the area. I should probably mention that the bed is on a pallet lower to the ground than a normal bed, but we had no problem adapting to the height and we aren't spring chickens! read more
