They are on a huge property that is also a winery and grow their own olives. Other than providing lodging and dining, they also sell their own wine (in house only, not distributed) with wine tasting. They are also a event space, hosting weddings and celebrations. On our first night here, a pre-wedding party was taking place. We spent two nights, two breakfast included, one dinner, and had a wine tasting. The breakfast was better than dinner, which was a bit overcooked. Our room is quite nice with a beautiful view of the pool and horizon. See photo. Service is courteous and kind. I was here with a tour group, so I don't know costs and value.

However, how many have had a quality Marsala wine on its own? De Bartoli is on the forefront of wine pioneering in Sicily with Marsala being the age old focus. Got to try the drier Vecchio Samperi Ventennale flagship and the sweeter Vigna La Miccia with a dessert. Fantastic. If you've only ever had this wine in a sauce, do yourself a favor and seek Marco De Bartoli's Marsalas and sample them in a glass. You'll wonder why sauce was the only way you had it.

Don't let the pictures fool you! This B&B is in the slums. You have to go through 3 locked gates…read moremade of heavy gauge steel to get into the property. There are bars on all windows, even the top floor. The area around it is historic...and in ruins (not like cool Roman ruins). The mattresses on the beds are cheap foam. This is a step above a dingy hostile. Stay at your own risk, but don't stay out after dark!
