I've been to Casa Jaguar twice on my trips to Tulum and am shocked to see that it has only 3 stars. The most recent time we went, we ordered the tuna tostadas (our favorite dish of the night), the slow cooked pork belly (which came with tortillas to make a taco) and the prawns. All were great. We ended the night with churros which were delicious, however I wish it came with better dipping sauces. They also have a great, diverse cocktail list. The ambience is very cool as well, you feel like you're sitting in the middle of the jungle. Always a favorite to visit when we go to Tulum. read more

Casa Jaguar was one of my Go-To spots before coming to Tulum and it did not disappoint! The space is beautifully appointed, service was on point and drinks and food were delicious. We ordered Tuna Tostadas to start and were each going to have the pork chop for entrees but the server was kind enough to tell us that was too much food so we shared the one pork chop and got a salad as well instead. The only thing is that the "pork chop" was actually pork ribs but they were huge and the most tender ones I've ever eaten. Can't wait to return to Casa Jaguar! read more

Came here with a large group celebrating a birthday, so we weren't expecting the best service. However, it was particularly poor compared to other places we went on this trip. We had two courses of food before receiving our drinks. That being said, the drinks themselves were delicious. I tried the Akil and Ceiba. The food was so-so. The tuna tostada and fish were nice, but the steak was disappointing (and arguably overcooked). Also, we were specifically told we could stay for the DJ set after dinner but did not receive wristbands, so members of the group were not let back into the area when they went to use the restroom and tried to return. read more

This place is the definition of overrated: the ambience is quite attractive (although extremely dark so its basically impossible to see what you're being served) but asides from that there is nothing worthwhile about the restaurant. We ordered the tuna tostadas, the ossobuco, and the fondue. We also ordered 2 drinks and a tequila shot. Service was good but food a little slow. Nothing was astounding or amazing so doesn't deserve a higjwr review. The dessert sucked and the tequila was plain gross and ridiculously overpriced ($270 MXN). Bill total: $2000mxn ($115~ USD) Review detail: - tuna tostadas were ok (about 240~mxn) - ossobuco is like venison meat or some strong tasting meat, I was okay with it but my partner felt ill after dinner from how heavy it was + somehow there were SPLINTERS in his food, which he choked on ... when we asked the restaurant about them they just commented that they'd fallen from the fire pit with little regard to how dangerous it can be to have small, spiked pieces of wood hiding in their food... - fondue was super overcooked and tasted a little burnt around the edges. Absolutely awful. We made a reservation based on suggestions by friends and some online research. Service was terrible. The wait staff took our food order and that's about it. No drinks. No water for the table. I ordered the catch of the day and after a couple bites, I couldn't stomach it (bc it wasn't fresh and tasted slightly spoiled). Sent the dish back and did not order anything else. They said I had to pay for the dish regardless since the kitchen "did not make a mistake". No discount, no offer to provide another option, expensive bill for less than an appetizer. To sum it up: terrible food, awful service, waste of money. We had a poor experience here last week. Granted, it was New Years day, so perhaps that had something to do with it. We originally showed up at 6pm and found out that Casa Jaguar would not take reservations and didn't open until 7pm. We went next door to Shiva (awesome drinks) and came back at 7:30, 30 minutes after it opened, and waited for an hour and a half before getting into the restaurant. Meanwhile, several idiots showed up and started fighting with the guys (patrons, not staff) inside who were letting others inside the restaurant. The guys in the restaurant had snuck 6-7 people in and were being very rude to those waiting. We finally sat down and I beelined to the restroom. Two restrooms were broken and the third did not lock (and was occupied). I found the port-a-potties, which were absolutely filthy. Our waitress seemed nice but service took forever. Asking for a bottle of water took 20+ minutes. Incorrect orders came out to our table. Food was served at different times too, so some received their entrees almost an hour before others and when it did arrive, it wasn't warm. Food and drinks were okay, but overpriced compared to other restaurants in the area that we had eaten at that week. It took 30 minutes for the check. Overall, the dinner was a very expensive nightmare. The two stars are for the atmosphere which is unique, otherwise, this place is a hard pass. read more

This place is the worst. After reading good reviews my friends and I decided to suck up the 20 minute taxi and make our way to Casa Jaguar. We arrived at 5 minutes to 6pm (when they open according to their website), after waiting awkwardly at the entrance eventually we managed to ask one of the many 'staff' if they would be opening soon. They replied 'maybe in 10minutes'. They wait staff were pretentious to the point of a joke. Another friend arrived a little later and had a drink with us. Soon after we were done and asked for the bill. Our friend then order some tuna tortatas. We asked for our bill when she ordered, when she got her food, and when she was finished with her food. It took almost 45minutes to receive the bill so we could pay for our over priced food. It came to a total of $4200mex for our meal. This is well above what we have paid for any other meal in Mexico. Even when we dined at a fine dining establishment. They had added a 15% service fee, which is beyond a joke. I do not mind paying for good service but the service here was appalling. As we didn't have exact change after waiting 10minutes for our waitress to return, we had to get up and ask for our $95 change - we didn't want to spend a $ more after already over paying on tip for atrocious service. There are plenty of places with much more delicious food, at a more reasonable price, and with good service. AVOID AVOID AVOID!! read more

About 10 people around me and my friends told us that their phones has just gotten stolen, and 4 of my friends phones got stolen as well, along with one of their wallets. We were recommended this place by a friend before heading to tulum because of its setting and great food. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was some of the best we had in Tulum. Stopped in to Casa Jaguar on our first night in town last week. For a Saturday, I was super surprised that the place was virtually empty and closing at 10pm. On a Saturday. However, we ventured in shortly before closing and the bartender was welcoming and happy to continue serving us while she and the rest of the staff were closing up for the night. We only had a couple of drinks, but they were great. One of the best margaritas of our trip. We sat at the bar and enjoyed the cool vibe of the place. It's also a boutique hotel with a very hip atmosphere. We had hoped to make it back in during our week stay for some live music but didn't get to come back. I will say that, although the margaritas were great, they were also the most expensive of our trip. At $170 pesos for a high-ball glass, I was feeling like I was back in DC. I get that they are going for a chic vibe, and they are located on the main strip on the jungle side. But I felt a little surprised at the price points. read more

We were here in June (low season). We had the catch of the day which was red snapper. The fish was really fresh and tasty. This place also has amazing cocktails (we went every night for at least one) - we had the mezcal cocktail with pineapple.
