    Complementary chips and salsa

I don't have much to say except for the food is terrible. No flavor - bland. Small sides. Overpriced but I guess that's what you pay in Nyack. Our servers were amazing so that bumps the review up to a grand 3. The restaurant is super cute and I love the decor. Bonus they have outdoor seating so I was able to enjoy a nice afternoon following a hike with my dog.

    Sweet plantains

First time here, looking for a place to eat outside for a mini-bachelorette celebration and landed here. We literally parked in the lost across the street and this was the first place we walked into. We started out with just margaritas, regular ones and a mango one with salt. They were okay. My mango one lost its mango flavor after a while. I guess it was the ice melting, not sure. My worst nightmare came true as soon as she brought the margarita to me, I went to drink it and saw a gnat type bug doing the backstroke in my drink. The server was very nice and took it away immediately and replaced it with a fresh one (and made sure I knew it was a new one and not the same one with the bug plucked out lol) We also had the complimentary chips and salsa. These were really good, and I ate a bunch while waiting for the food. Once my order came, they were pushed to the side. I had a shrimp and mango quesadilla that was really tasty. The mix of flavors went very well together. I also ordered a side of yucca fries, now.. these were a huge disappointment. I can only describe them one way... they were like bricks. Clearly overcooked, hard and difficult to chew. At first glance they look great, but when you bite down they were hard like they were cooked to long in the oven. The sweet plantains were perfect, soft and sweet like I like. I didnt see any vegan options on the menu but hope to next time I come. Overall, they were pretty good, just a few hiccups, I would go back and try another meal and drinks.

Pollo boracho taco, steak taco, guacamole and sangria

I've only been here once and overall I'd give it a 3.5 based on price and two of the menu items I did like. I did enjoy the guacamole which we ordered spicy and it tasted fresh and had the right kick and I also liked the steak taco. I didn't care for the chicken taco or rice and beans which tasted like they came from a box or can. The service was okay, I asked for white sangria but ended up with red and didn't feel like correcting the waitress. The sangria tasted watered down but it was cheap and there was a deal on Sundays. I saw others with frozen margaritas which looked good and wish I had ordered that instead.

We came to nyack for the weekend, such a relaxing area, nice people and cool trendy places to hang out. Last nite I was looking through reviews on yelp to see what restaurant to go to so we can take our friend for his birthday who eats typically Spanish food, gladly we found this place casa del sol. From the outside it kinda looked a bit spooky (like we was going to be the dinner) the decor was skeletons sort of like (Dia de Los muertos) decoration it was ok. With all that said we still entered. Upon entering they had a live band in front practicing, our waiter Job was excellent even recommended a great tasting tequila that all took shot from. The food was very good, I ordered a skirt steak with veggies. The steak was delicious cooked to perfection, we all enjoyed what we orederd I will definitely be back. I would give it 5stars but our table was wobbly which they fixed but I find tables like that to be super annoying Oh and another set back was the practicing of the live band, it was loud and not so cool. They started at 10ish but we had to seat and eat with alot of mic checks and beating drums and piano keys. Overall is was a nice time

    My sangria in reused glass

Big disappointment. Horrible service and subpar food. Haven't been here in over a year. Remembered liking it. The waitress had three tables. The restaurant was empty when we arrived. Ordered white sangria. The sangria was white wine which only had orange juice in it. Horrible, not even fruit! I got chicken enchiladas, my daughter got quesadillas, and my husband got a burrito. My enchiladas were so small, barely lukewarm, and appeared pathetic on the large plate. The black beans had NO flavor whatsoever. The yellow rice was OK. My husband even commented on the portion that I got saying they have a lot of nerve charging what they do for that! We ran out of chips and salsa, we had to ask for more. By now a large table had been seated next to us. Around seven children and probably eight adults. That's when we became invisible. When the waitress did bring us the salsa, she flung it on the table so it slid. She was obviously overwhelmed, and couldn't stop and place it down properly. I decided to order red sangria, and had to flag her down for that. She asked if she could take my glass from my white sangria and use that, because they had run out of glasses for sangria! Restaurant wasn't even half full. So she took my empty glass with a little bit of ice left in it. When she arrive at the red sangria, it had the same ice that was sitting there from the beginning. Little melted pebbles. She just poured the red sangria on top of the white. But I got fruit this time! Didn't even rinse the glass and give me new ice! We quickly finished and I was starving, and wanted to leave. I was going to eat somewhere else. We asked for the check, and that was flung on the table also. When we gave her the credit card, she came back and actually flung the bill with a credit card at my 13-year-old daughter. It wasn't placed in front of an adult it was flung and slid in front of the kid. She was shocked! There was no thank you, there was no eye contact. She was only interested in keeping up with the big party that was seated after us, next to us. The place looks cute but it's skimpy, tasteless food, poor sangria and rude service.

This place had good foods and environment was pleasant. They also have open mic nights and it was very fun watching musicians playing.

Do not get the Mexican lollipops! I'm warning you they taste like dog food and there was a hair in our chips and salsa. Keep it moving.

Enchiladas came out looking like a microwaved TV dinner. Tasted dry and reheated. The extra star is only because the staff was excellent.

No frills, no flashy atmosphere -- just comida auténtica and seriously satisfying flavors. I ordered the carne asada nachos and an order of tacos al pastor, and both hit the spot perfectly. Fresh ingredients, bold flavor, and that classic street-style taco taste that instantly lifts your ánimo on a gloomy day. The nachos were loaded, cheesy, and packed with flavor, while the al pastor tacos were simple, fresh, and delicioso. And yes... we washed it all down with a Coke Zero in a glass bottle because somehow it siempre tastes better that way. Now, if you're looking for upbeat energy and polished service, este lugar probably isn't it. The staff seemed a bit inexperienced and lacked motivation. But where the service fell short, the kitchen absolutely delivered with authentic flavors and generous portions. Sometimes the best spots are the quiet little hole-in-the-wall places that let the food do all the talking.

Part of the meal I ate was a little dry, but that's what the excellent salsa is for, and everyone at the table is coming back. There is no booze, which is a good thing in working mens establishments playing football, and the while the drinks selection is authentic it is limited. Expect to pay fifteen bucks a head per adult, leaving plenty of opportunity for a jumbo tip. Don't go if you are stuck up.
