This place had good foods and environment was pleasant. They also have open mic nights and it was very fun watching musicians playing.

Have been here a few times, most recently had a brisket burrito, it was out of this world good! Also had the Caribbean jerk wings, which were also awesome. Only knock against is that sometimes the drinks can be watered down, but other than that it's a great spot in Nyack. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I normally don't travel up this way to go out, but I love the downtown area. I was here and stopped in because of the band. So major props to the bar for having a great upbeat band. But the major downfall that the bar needs to fix immediately, is the bartenders. The one is so rude that she refuses to serve anyone. If you are not her "friend" she will take forever, 20+ mins to even say hello to you. Last time I was there, she sat there talking crap about me and my friends to her other friends at the bar. Loud enough that We could hear her. Then she goes out to have a smoke and tries to be all nice. This place is gonna tank because of rude bartenders like her. Get it together. read more

The 2 stars are solely for a nice decor. We came in kind of late on a Tuesday night, so I'm willing to see how maybe that was our faux pas. The guacamole for the table is made right in front of you, which I personally really dislike. It's this weird charade for an awkward experience. There was way too much oregano (?) and not enough lime and it's awkward to ask for more. The portion is tiny for $10. Between 3 of us we ordered 4 tacos and a burrito. It took forever. A taco was forgotten but the wait staff was nice so we kind of just kept our hungry spirits up! My burrito was absolutely inedible. I got a chicken one and literally counted 3 tiny cubes of chicken in there. Only rice and beans in the burrito, no cheese or anything else. I was so puzzled as I've had better burritos from gas stations. I asked the waiter to not charge me for a chicken burrito but for just a veggie one as I felt it was unfair since there was no chicken in my $15 burrito! He was polite, said he was new but charged me anyway. Ok.honestly we still tipped him 20%. .. but I am so disappointed. He had a way to rectify the situation to have us come back.... but I guess a return customer is not something this place cares about. He was apologetic though, which was nice. There was another guy who made me a drink that wasn't on the menu and I really appreciated that. Anyway, I think the tacos were alright. The sides were alright and the Mexican beers were good. We always love enjoying margaritas and apps outside but the bees were absolutely horrible today. We spent our time swatting away the bees that were crawling in and around my glass. Unfortunately we've seen bees bothering other tables as well as our own for over a year. We wish they would spray and be done with the bees so we could enjoy our time there. New owner previous bartender thankfully kept the same hip cool unique atmosphere and menu making Casa del Sol still one of my favorite Nyack restaurants. Love the fajitas and margaritas. Miss the steamed fish in banana leaf no longer on the menu. I passed by on a Friday night end of summer with live band playing in open courtyard. From far away music was good but up close it was WAY,too,loud hurt my ears could not hear ears ringing had to walk away. Disappointing since I love live music but not at high decibels of a stadium rock concert. Outdoor seating in courtyard or cafe. Cozy bar and beautiful decor indoor seating. Hope the indoor stage has live music like in the past during cold winters since cozy and inviting. Love the food and unique and large variety of drink favors. read more

Not much of a Mexican restaraunt. Most of the menu is burgers and sandwiches. No usual Mexican food on the menu such as enchiladas or tacos. The salsa tasted so odd, the quac was too spicy and they "re-made" it but didn't taste much different except the top layer, the service was not very good, I only ordered one taco they gave me 2 and charged me for both, we had soup and the bowl was super hot from the microwave but the soup itself was freezing, and even my first beer I had wasn't even cold!! This is my favorite spot in Nyack. Food has been great through both managements. My favorite under old management was the fried goat cheese with spinach chips. The new management doesn't have it on the menu but if you ask for it they'll make it. I hope they don't stop! I also have the salmon del Sol and its divine! The red sangria is a hit or miss. Reason for me giving it two stars is because of my experience here. I would give it one star but the service I got here was horrible which might not have been the case if someone else helped me. Now me and my friends are young and maybe the waitress assumed we wouldn't leave a decent tip. We all ordered our food very clearly and i asked for one of the ingredients not to be added on which was. But it wasn't a big deal to me because the chiefs could have easily messed it up accidents happen I just removed the ingredient. Now i wanted to mention it to her but she was to busy with the hostess outside smoking a jul the entire time we were there. When we were getting ready to leave my one friend asked for her stuff to be separate and she seemed fine with that. But when it came to pay our bill she disappeared once again so we got up to see if we could pay it with the hostess. So the hostess went to find her and I guess she got in trouble. When she came back with our checks and cards she practically tossed them on the table. Not even a smile anymore or anything. My first time here and honestly I will not be back. Also they had a weird mix of Dominican and Puerto Rican food, I thought t would be Mexican food. They should work on teaching their staff great customer service. read more

We had a delicious lunch here yesterday! The hardest part was deciding which of the unique items on the menu to pick. Ended up with the jerk chicken salad and shrimp enchiladas. Started with the table side guacamole (a huge serving for only $10) although second guessed my choice when the most delicious smelling wings passed by to a nearby table. I wasn't disappointed, though. If I could find just an ounce of space left in my stomach my eyes were on the s'more nachos. I will be back up soon for another visit. read more

This used to be my favorite Mexican spot in rockland and now that they have new owners the food is just not good. I hate to say it but I will never be back here and I used to go a minimum of twice a month. They had amazing vegetable fajitas that have since been taken off the menu and they used to be so amazingly good. I decided to give them a chance anyway and ordered enchiladas which were basically rolled up onions and a pepper with no flavor and not even cooked to a good texture. One of the most disappointing things was that their salsa is completely different as well. Less spicy with no flavor... I seriously am so sad to say that this place is no longer a great place to eat. :( read more

Decided to try it's the one next door was too loud with band playing. What a disappointment. The drinks order was wrong. Asked for Mezcal and the waiter did not know what it was. After explaining received my favorite Mezcal straight up but it was 100% watered down. This Mezcal is not a college drink and is ordered by people that know. Bad. I've been coming to Casa since it opened. Since the new owner took over, I think they have really upped their game. The addition of more standard fare, (burgers and franks - all with a spicey Mexican twist) has brought a nice new aspect to the menu. It is my go-to spot for a snack, or just drinks outside in nice weather. Whenever I have a client come to Nyack, I take them to Casa and to date I've never been disappointed. The Chipotle Chicken Pasta is my absolute fav on the menu - my wife is a big fan of the soups. The staff always has a smile and have always been warm and welcoming. Visiting Casa is like visiting friends. I give it my highest possible recommendation. read more

Excellent service and amazing food! Chef Mark prepared a delicious & refreshing shrimp cocktail for us. He then cooked us mouth watering shrimp fajitas and a steak burrito. The servings were large and we couldn't eat it all. The steak was very tender and tasty. The shrimp was phenomenal!! The chef came out and introduced himself. The server Alex was top notch! This place has the most authentic Mexican vibe I ever seen. I loved the ambiance. The food was mediocre, the staff killed it. One staff member was a complete white guy with no people skills. Didn't have on no uniform. He was so dressed down. The Mexican guy was picking up the dirty dishes. ?? The service was so slow because it was only one guy serving the whole restaraunt on a Saturday mid day. Music was all over the place. First it was authentic Mexican then it flipped to alternative music and then to 80's then to country music. It's a shame such a beautiful place in such a main location in south nyack and the management did a poor job showing off the service of this beautifully displayed restaurant. I would have given 4 stars, but, I came into the restaurant to a band of screaming kids. I later found out that the kids were the owners children and with some friends. Service was great, the Taco Tuesday okay, but expected more. A bit disappointed. I'll try this place again later in the evening. This is one of the worst restaurants I have ever visited in the state of New York. My girl friend and I visited them today and were completely put off by their service and lack there of. First of all, I am vegan; I asked that they replace chicken with mushrooms and that they give me extra vegetables to compensate for the lack of meat- which I would have gladly paid for, had they asked me to. When I got my food, they neglected to add the extra vegetables that I'd previously requested, despite our waiter documenting and alleging that they would oblige my request AND I didn't receive the sweet plantains that I ordered either. Not only that but, my girl friend, who was still eating her appetizer, was still waiting for the waiter to return so, that she could place her order, for her main course. The waiter never returned to get her main order so, we had to place the order with the gentleman who seated us. The waiter never checked on us; sadly, we were checked on by fellow patrons, instead of our waiter, Jason. When Jason, our waiter, finally did return, he quickly cleared out table and presented us with our bill. Not once did he ask if we were finished; and, when we told him that we weren't done, wanted another drink, and for our chips,that we'd barely eaten, to be returned he looked shocked and said, "oh, you're not done?" Upon consuming our last beverage, my friend saw bugs in her drink, once again, we were not checked on by our waiter so, another waiter came to our aid and said that he'd remedy the situation. Instead, a while later, Jason came back with a revised bill, since he neglected to verify whether or not our dining experience was actually complete and satisfactory, and tossed the bill on the table. When my friend told him about the bugs in her drink, he walked away, shrugged his shoulders, and said, its empty sorry- while walking in the other direction and not giving us an ounce of courtesy, dignity, or professionalism. The drink was slightly less than half full, it was not empty; but, we didn't even get an apology- let alone an offer for a complimentary, bug free beverage. Instead, we were told that we were trying to SWINDLE them, for one $5 sangria; when, if anything it was JASON, who swindled us by taking away a slightly less than half full beverage and treating us as less than worthy to dine and commune at Casa del Sol. Obviously this behavior was unacceptable so, we requested to speak with a manager, at which time we were told that there was not one in the establishment. NEVER have we experienced customer service this AWFUL; Jason didn't care one iota, he didn't extend any eye contact, kept shrugging his shoulders, and was beyond dismissive. To say that this behavior was an INSULT is an understatement and is absolutely unbelievable. I don't recommend this place to anyone; they treat their patrons HORRIBLY. read more
