The entrance is free and there are many artists from the region...so many local painters....there were a few pieces of Goya, Zurbaran, El Greco and other famous masters. The place was very well kept and every painting had great signage and information on the piece.

It was declared a National Monument in 1885. Tours are provided. The building was built in 842 and is in pretty good shape. We crawled all along it without a concern for safety.

Entry is free for everyone, and it has quite late hours--till 8:30 pm, I believe. The architecture of the building is worth a visit itself. The exhibits inside contain pieces of Galicia's many-layered history: Roman mosaics from the central streets, Celtic lore, paintings from the Prado, works of local Lugo artist José Vázquez Cereijo... I spent an hour and a half strolling through the museum (I was the only visitor at that time) and it was idyllic. Worth a visit!
