My husband and I just stayed five nights at Casa de las Palomas and really enjoyed our stay! What was good about staying at Casa de las Palomas?
The hotel is small - only 9 rooms - so it's very intimate and the staff were wonderful! They were very responsive via WhatsApp (we borrowed beach towels a couple of times). They were very helpful and friendly! They offer a lot of travel services (setting up tours, arranging for car pickups, etc., which we didn't take them up on only because we're advance planners, but it was great that they offer this for guests who maybe don't have their itinerary down by the minute)! Because it's smaller and more intimate, the hotel was a quiet, too! Not too many guests around - I was able to sit by the pool with my feet in the water and make a call - because there wasn't anyone to bother! The other guests (we did run into a few every morning at breakfast) were really friendly, too.
Our room (the master suite with swimming pool) was gorgeous, spacious, and comfortable! The air conditioning cooled the room down quickly (it was 85 even when we were there over Thanksgiving); the bed was super comfortable; and the bathroom was enormous (complete with indoor pool, shower, and two sinks)! The shared spaces were beautiful, too - the outdoor pool, the hallway/courtyard, the lobby room.
The hotel has a small breakfast cafe, which was absolutely lovely. We had breakfast there three times during our stay. The menu is varied (Yucatecan egg dishes to fruit bowls to toast with jam and butter), and it's just a wonderful place to enjoy breakfast - outside, covered, overlooking the pool. The service was wonderful, too!
The location was so convenient! Everything we wanted to visit was within a 20-minute walk of the hotel - Plaza Grande, Parque de Santa Lucia, Paseo de Montejo, and more! It's so central, right in the middle of everything.
The only thing keeping this from being a five star review are the typical things you can expect from a hotel in a historic building (not the best plumbing, not enough hot water to get that indoor tub filled with warm water, etc.). But overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa de las Palomas! What a convenient, beautiful base for our travels around Yucatan for a few days! read more
