I went to Memory Care of Westover Hills and asked for a tour of the facility. It was night and day difference in the ambience and staff from where I had placed my husband! They did have a private room available and were extremely accommodating considering the short notice, and I was able to move my husband there the following day! I am so comfortable and pleased with my decision. My husband had now been there about 10 weeks and I feel moving him to Memory Care of Westover Hills is the best place for him at this time of his dementia journey. His room is always clean, he is always dressed well, he's happy, has adjusted extremely well, made friends, and he never asks to go home, get out of there, etc. Their menu has a lot of variety and the food is delicious! There have been a couple times when I've found he is missing a pair of shoes, belt, etc. and the staff is amazingly fast at locating the missing items. The staff from the Executive Director, Director of Nursing, Marketing, Receptionist, Caregivers, Med Techs, Kitchen Staff, Maintenance, Housekeeping, etc. are all well trained, patient, kind, and always encouraging the residents to participate in numerous daily activities.

My 95-year old mom was evicted from her previous facility on a Friday night before…read moreChristmas, in the dark, in the rain (just drizzle, but still wet), in the cold with nothing but the clothes on her back. Arden Court is the only place that answered the phone and they took her in without question! They warmly welcomed her (and me, too), provided her with hugs, food, and a bed with warm blankets to sleep on. From that point on, they were only more wonderful. The caregivers interacted with her with dignity and love, and took all the time they could to show her she was safe and cared for. The building is a marvel -- four wings of 16 residents each (I think its 16), color coded and decorated with themes. It has very nice outdoor areas accessible to the residents. The food looked good and seemed to be very healthy. The staff are incredible, attentive, and that includes Gina, Ashley, Emily, Brian, Deanna and Gonzalo. Dr. Cowan is there on staff (and on call all the time), and nursing staff are there 24/7. After we got in, I found out that many of my church friends' family members had been there, so I felt even better about my mom being a resident. Unfortunately, my mom's dementia progressed so rapidly that she passed within 6 weeks of arriving, but she was in the best place possible with the best, and most caring staff I've ever witnessed. My mom had been through many skilled nursing facilities over the years (for rehab after surgeries), and I've never experienced the warmth and love like I did at Arden Court. Not a single staff member walked around playing games on their phones or ignoring a call out from a resident. They also provide monthly meetings to the families of their residents, to learn more about how to best support their loved ones, and how to manage our own grief. They have a little beauty shop, and lots of activities. Best place EVER!!

They have a huge gathering area with a large-screen TV and each resident has their own room with a separate TV and bathroom. The staff were quite nice and extremely attentive to my mother-in-law. We have done everything to leave and a meeting with Sasha Garcia the director and the owners and nothing! It's already a month that i have not seen my mom Clara Martinez and I have been wanting a meeting to leave but they won't set up this meeting. since March 2026 they ignored my mom's wishes My mom can talk and say her name and address and have a great conversation too but they won't listen to her and keep me from visiting her.

I wish I had never been talked into placing my dad at this facility for Memory Care because no…read moreeffort was made to help him with his memory & they pretty much destroyed his spirit & took away his dignity. They appear to only like their residents who are compliant so do their best to make people that way. Up until the time my 89 year old father was admitted to the Cottages At Danny Kaye, he regularly walked about 2 miles per day. Once he entered this facility, he was never allowed to walk again. Initially, he was being sedated & locked into a geriatric chair, with a tray to keep him from trying to get up. I questioned this because he was always on his feet & walking around before moving here. Despite suffering from dementia for years, he had never lost his desire to keep his body moving. The staff claimed this was to prevent him from falling & they never made any effort to get him back up & moving. I requested physical therapy but the only response I got to those requests were that they weren't sure if he could follow a therapists instructions so they weren't even going to try. Because he was never able to get out of the chair or his bed, he developed quite a few pressure & bed sores that were ignored until that time when they became so infected that some had turned gangrenous. Hospice was involved in his care & it was horrifying that they allowed my dad's condition to become so bad. Even though my dad requested to use the restroom regularly, he was never allowed to do so. They would only let him take care of those needs in a diaper, again claiming that they couldn't risk him falling. They didn't even have any portable urinals/bedpans that could give him a little control of his bodily functions. The staff were nice enough but they aren't trained medical professionals, just people looking for a job. For instance, I once asked one of the staff a question & her response was that she didn't know as she was only there to wipe butts. The rooms were so tiny that they just reminded me of storage closets. Medical equipment was just tossed around & I was always having to tidy up his room. My dad was retired military & a super neat freak so he must have been horrified to see himself surrounded by all the mess on a regular basis. Meals looked OK but the food offered was not the kind of stuff my dad ate before. Very often, he just wouldn't eat. Instead of trying to offer him something that did appeal to him, they just told me they can't force him to eat. He did like the desserts & probably got most of his calories from these. There were no activities to stimulate the residents. They had a crafts section but for the most part, all those crafts were just put away in drawers & cabinets, rarely offered to the residents to break their boredom. Parking the residents in front of the TV seemed to be the only distraction offered & most just fell asleep when put there. As I said earlier, the staff really seemed to prefer compliance & they were always yelling at the couple of residents who still possessed some spirit in their personalities. Unfortunately, placing a loved one in one of these places is a learning experience for most of us. I thought the location & small set up would be nice for my dad but in hindsight, I would have considered a much larger & better staffed facility. There need to be checks & balances in the care offered & this place just doesn't have that. I will always live with the guilt of knowing I placed him in such a place & wonder how the end of his life would have been if I had done more research before placing him here. Please do the research I should have done.
