Gayle and I were returning from Fuente De that included a ride up the gondola and a gorgeous hike around a small slice of the Picos de Europa. Our big regret was not completing the 4+ hour hike down, but in fairness we hadn't packed enough water, snacks, and layers. If we ever come back, we'll stay at the Parador and this area a little more justice.
It was now 3 PM and in Spain that means that it was Lunch time. We were now in Potes and one Tour book (Northern Spain Handbook by Footprint) recommended Casa Cayo. It was a fine choice.
We were seated by the window and the views of the river and the nearby peaks were very pretty. The place very lively, cheerful, sunny, and a great place to hang out and soak up the local ambiance. We also had a great server who took very good care of us. We both enjoyed one of the local stews and shared over a bottle of nice wine. Flan and coffee (solo for me, con leche for Gayle) finished off a nice meal and a fun hiking portion of our day. read more
