This is a very nice library, with lots of books, magazines, movies to choose from. I love that's in a very historical town. Just to go and sit and read in quiet is very relaxing. There's street parking or in the back that you pay. I recommend coming, especially if you've never been and just want to check it out. read more

Wow what an amazing library in a great location walking distance from downtown Lexington, MA. We stopped in on our way up north as a quick little stop for our-year-old to get out and play. The children's room was absolutely fantastic with plenty of areas for children to play in as well as a multitude of children programs, even Saturdays! The staff were friendly impersonal, and the library was well tidy and kept. The only complaint would be they paid parking as I believe there should be free parking when you were going to a public library. read more

My friend can be quoted saying "if I had a membership here, I would CANCEL it". I mean granted, this was said after she was shushed, a quintessential library experience. She was being rather jovial, as one can be when the weather has improved and was abruptly and harshly the recipient of a "shush!" She then proceeded to be very grumpy for the rest of the hour and almost tripped walking out of the building. "Get new stairs!" was her second comment. read more

I absolutely love Cary Library and visit almost every weekday. I honestly consider access to Cary one of the best benefits to working in Lexington, and far prefer it to Robbins Library in Arlington where I live. Here are a few of the things I like the most: - The building itself. It's gorgeous, especially the phenomenal reading room! - The DVD collection, which has an amazing selection of 30s, 40s and 50s movies (my favorites) - and there's no fee to check out movies the way there is at Robbins. - The used book room and free magazine exchange - it's where I acquire all the magazines that I enjoy reading but would be embarrassed to purchase (ahem, People). - The great media displays the librarians assemble. For instance, I love that with the holidays approaching, all the Christmas movies, music, and baking and craft books are together so that I can get a quick holiday fix on my way out of the library. - The community feel, like the questions on the wall chalkboard for patrons to answer and the puzzle they always have going that I'll stop and work on for a few minutes whenever I have a chance. - Being able to print up to 10 pages a day for free Long live Cary Library! read more

Nice study rooms, nice selection of things to borrow. Clearly well funded. Prefer to the Bedford library. Downside is that some stuff you can only borrow if you live/work in Lexington. read more

An excellent place to work when I need to get away from my office. Cary was recently renovated. A great library. - I love to visit their reading room, gather all the magazines I would love to buy, and sit in quiet reading, taking notes on web sites, and taking a break from the outside world. A great space - STAFF.... a huge plus. They help me find any of the materials I need. They school me in how to use the library in order to get more out of it. They are helpful and friendly. - They treat my 89 year old Dad like a soft boiled egg. Dad reads A LOT. He's kinda lost his fast ball, and staff is nothing but nice to him. He's hard of hearing so thus might possibly talk too loud. They handle Dad exceptionally! The Minute Man network of libraries gets me anything I want on the Internet, and its delivered to this location. They have a great system for downloading books to my Nook reader. All handled through wifi at the house. It's also beautiful. With reading rooms available to spread work and get things done. read more

What I like and dislike most about this library is the location! It's situated on a GREAT prime spot of real estate, smack dab in Lexington Center, right on Mass Ave, and across the street from the Lexington Green, really picturesque and easy to find. On the other hand...parking is a nightmare, and the bus to and from Lexington comes fairly infrequently. I am impressed with the Cary Library in general . It's newly renovated and you can definitely tell when you walk in that the town spent a great deal of money and time on this building. Their books are well organized, they have a good selection of newer and older titles, and the atmosphere in general is cozy and welcoming, perfect for studying or curling up on a couch with a book (and they have a lot of chairs). Not the most stunning library in the Minuteman network, but for a midsize library, it's more than satisfactory. read more

Segregated areas(not like that) for different need. quiet areas are actually respectful, not like most other libraries. i actually wish for the old fashioned shhhuusshhhing librarians at those locations. this library also has a great fish tank. clean. read more

Very impressive library! Feels more like a university library than a town library! Love it! There are little "memorials" to the influence and struggle of the Chinese community throughout the whole library, literally all throughout the whole library! Learned a lot! The Chinese community of the town of Lexington must done some serious bankrolling of the library to be featured so exclusively throughout! The extent to which the Chinese culture are "documented " and featured is kind of overdone! It's like, ok, we get it, you have struggled, and persevered, but don't take over the whole damn library! We get it already! Enough is enough, it starts to look a little "self-congratulatory " at this point! Whatever, it's still a nice library though! read more

Someone really spent some money and time making the exterior of the building, in terms of style, cohesive with its surroundings. The interior design creates an inefficient use of space but it's a common shortcoming of many public buildings. It's a decent size library for such a little town. I was able to find a book that was recently made into a movie (though I was surprised that they had it due to the subject matter). Rumor has it that Noam Chomsky lives in this town. I haven't seen him in the library or anywhere else in Lexington for that matter. Without Noam, this town is just a-ok, I am not a fan. read more

Nice room for working on wifi with many tables and arm chairs, lots of events. Nice location in town center. Metered, small parking lot at location with only 2 hour meters, but town has several all day lots within walking distance for only a maximum $2/day fee. A bit surprised at limited selection of technology and business marketing related books. Seems like a lot of outdated non-fiction books in their collection. The library is well organized and maintained. Generally, the librarians are welcoming and helpful. Resources are excellent.

My experience with the Cary Memorial Library has been disappointing. They charge a fee for everything. I lived in Cambridge for the last five years, and paid 1/10 of the fees I've already paid to the Cary Library...in only four months! If you request a book and don't pick it up on time, they charge you. They charge a dollar (or more) for each video that's late, per day. This all ads up, and they don't take into account that the person taking out the books might be 8 years old, and the parent has no knowledge. In the children's section I see families surprised by big bills when they go to check out books, having no idea that they owe anything! And then the library won't let you take out books if you owe more than a few dollars! So Moms stand there with screaming kids, because they didn't bother to bring money with them to the Library! I think they behave like everyone in the town of Lexington is rolling in money. Well, we aren't. read more
