I used the forerunner of Turner Cars & Campers, known as Alias Smith and Willard, in 1985. My late…read morebuddy and I bought a VW Combi that was about 10 years old. We drove as far south as the Peloponnese in Greece over a two-month period visiting 10 countries along the way including two that no longer exist: West Germany and Yugoslavia. But, if you count the current post-Yugoslav-breakup countries we visited, that would probably make about 15 total countries we spent time in. We met real Europeans on their holidays throughout the continent, instead of meeting other American 20-somethings on Eurail passes. It was a fantastic experience. We regularly serviced the van, in accordance with the purchase agreement, including oil changes in West Germany and in Athens, Greece. When we rolled back onto the Krugerstraat 6 lot in Utrecht, we received the agreed-upon amount for the van. (As I recall, we returned the van on a Sunday morning - and the owner said we'd missed quite a party on the lot the night before!) I realize that 41 years have passed, but I am pleased to see the company still exists in its current form. Sending my best wishes to the current management, as well as today's travelers.
