There's a stay of artists which is nice because it's perspective that leads you to find the piece meant for you. Of course I adored the Wyland 'Starry night " and Sea of Cortez. Wyland Galleries in Lake Tahoe is a very pricy art gallery with some unique pictures and…read moresculptures. They don't allow photos so it's kind of ridiculous for me to describe what I saw but I'll give it a try. Best you go there yourself. Wyland himself is best known for his Whaling Wall murals and sea life conservation efforts. There was a thick glass coffee table supported by what seemed like a dolphin or whale base which I believe was by Wyland. There were two other types of animal sculptures that I found to be delightful: a large, almost life-sized metal dog with extra long legs and many smaller, very colorful animal pieces made with various found objects. One looked like it had a body part made using part of an ice cream cone. Art is meant to be seen and my descriptions can't possibly do them justice. Another artist, Oryan, does something called liquid fusion. It's quite a complicated process. I did take a picture of a poster about him, just not the actual art. Even if these works of art are out of your price range as they are mine, it's still fun to admire the talent of these artists.

Nice selection of local artists work. Some is very professional, all completed by members. Prices…read moreare modest. Unfortunately, because volunteers run the gallery and they are busy working, some unscrupulous visitors take advantage and steal works or switch price stickers to buy at lower pricing when the volunteers aren't watching. These people are really low hanging fruit, stealing art from seniors that are only trying to make a little extra income. I hope the art they steal gives them intense guilt every time they look at it. If you like what you see while visiting, pay the asking price. You support the artists and the gallery, and will enjoy the art immensely for years.

Then again, its NV, and just a short mule trip over to LV -- right? For a general overview, this museum will definitely entertain you - and it's NOT guna cost you more than a shot of top-shelf whiskey or moonshine. I recommend you check this lil gem of history out for yourself. A small admission fee from your coin purse will entitle you to see... the "Arctic Vibrator". LOL. If you have ever seen the movie "shivers", you'll get a better and more profound understanding of this fine gem of a wonder toy. (?). Considering we're actually talking about the 1860's and a brothel or two - no less (maybe more), that's rather hilarious. OK.. check your history on this one -- was there electricity during the 1860's? Add to that idea the concept of an electric female stimulator. *cough*. What would the thought of an "arctic vibrator" do for you? it gives me the "shivers" to say the least. and it made my GF laugh. brrrr. the thought of the arctic gives me the chills. BTW, there's a heated mall near Carson City (in NV) just under 60 mins away.
