I left work here because the 4 year old teacher (not prek- but 3.5 years to 4) was one of the worst people I've ever had an experience working with. Lots of derogatory comments, and rude attitudes towards the majority of coworkers. Someone who was much older and experienced in the classroom was also treated negatively towards her and brought it up with the owner and director. They both stated they hadn't noticed anything instead of taking her experience into account.
Where I work now, if you have a problem with a co-worker, you are invited to talk to management about it in an open, polite way. I wish I could say the same about this business. This environment is incredibly stressful and overwhelming. It makes sense as to why you would meet disagreeable people here, but that doesn't justify being treated like trash by other coworkers who are no more qualified than you.
The layout of this business was constructed in the 80's and has not been updated. What this means is that there is a major lack of walls between the classrooms ages 18 months through 4. This is unacceptable to me because it means that it becomes incredibly loud at times. Also, imagine how hard it is to get 100 kids to take a nap when they can all hear each others' potential disturbances.
The pre-k teacher is strict and tough, but she does a good job taking care of her kids. Not once has a student in all her years of experience failed the entrance exam to kindergarten. She makes sure her kids know she cares for them even though she is stern with them.
State standards are not followed here to the fullest extent. You must have a licensed teacher in every classroom. I saw many exceptions to this rule being followed. read more
