10/10 could not recommend Carrie Anne more! I originally had been looking to do a boudoir shoot as a wedding gift for my husband but over the course of my process with Carrie Anne, this became more of an investment in myself. It sounds super cliche, but it was one of the most empowering things I've ever done and well worth the money. Carrie Anne is EXTREMELY organized in addition to being very creative, stylish, kind and your #1 cheerleader. I am not someone who loves being in front of the lens nor do I feel my best when photographed so had a lot of hesitation investing this much into photos of myself. Carrie Anne gave me so much confidence, the styling and makeup was incredible, and I keep coming back to these photos any day I need a boost of confidence. I thought I'd *maybe* have 5 photos I was thrilled with and instead ended up purchasing more than I'd planned (~40) because I was so obsessed with them. And even then, it was hard to narrow it down. I considered buying all ~250 of them! Boudoir can be SO hard to style (can turn out cheesy or too in your face) so I was worried, but Carrie Anne is truly a master at making sure it doesn't turn out that way. It has taken me seven months to finally write my review for Carrie Anne because what I've learned about myself during my boudoir session (and the whole process leading up to it) continues to unfold even months later. I spent years disconnected and extremely critical of my body. Eating disorder in high school and early childhood sexually abuse caused me to disassociate from my body, my sexuality and my power as a whole. Through many years of therapy, becoming a mother and supportive relationship with my husband, piece by piece I began to reclaim my body and my true self. Knowing that we carry so much emotion in our bodies, I knew the biggest piece of my healing was utilizing my body, instead of just talking, and begin to treat it as the piece of art that it is. So I decided to take the most courageous out of the box, most push myself to my edge of comfort place and do a boudoir session. It was time to reclaim my body as mine. It took me awhile but I came across Carrie Anne's website and this is where the magic began. Carrie Anne has an innate ability to communicate with such thoughtfulness, caring and protective nature. She encourages honesty and vulnerability through the process so once you're in front of the camera, you are much more comfortable and relaxed because you've already built a connection with her. It's very apparent that she does this work for deeper reasons than just taking beautiful photos. She cultivates safe spaces for her clients to transform. It's her passion and you immediately feel taken care of by her. The actual photo shoot (as nervous as I was) became a beautiful reintroduction to myself and my body. Carrie Anne models celebration, empowerment and confidence through the whole shoot. I literally felt myself profoundly shift from nervousness to empowerment through the photo shoot. Once received the "absolutely beautiful cannot believe that is me, blown out of the water "photos, they became a bridge and reminder to my present day. That I can feel this empowerment, this connected, this deserving every day, not just the day of my shoot. I am a therapist as well as have been in therapy for years, but working with Carrie Anne was one of the most healing, profound moments and I encourage everyone to work with her. If you've been curious about Boudoir, but too nervous to do it--I'm telling you right now--DO IT!! and do it with Carrie Anne!! Honestly, I don't know where to even start...the experience was just "magical". That sounds cheesy but I'm SO serious! Carrie Anne starts by reaching out to you via email asking about what you want to get out of the shoot and how you want to feel. I honestly was just wanting to shoot to feel a little less awkward in my body and also give my future husband a gift pre-wedding. But little did I know I would leave feeling like a bad ass woman who could take on anything with a huge smile on her face! From the moment the first email went out you could tell Carrie Anne wanted to personalize the experience and tailor it towards your needs. She sets you up with a personal stylist, Kat, that provides an amazing guide for inspiration (or even direct links) to shopping. SUPER helpful and thoughtful. Then she checks in on you to ensure you feel good about your choices. I feel like I was chatting with a close girlfriend each conversation pre-shoot. Also, she sends you an email a few days before the shoot to advise you on how to prepare--I suggest you follow the instructions. haha! Hydrate, stretch, and mentally prepare because you're going into the most "HOT" yoga session you've ever had! (actually the room is very comfortable in temperature, but you definitely get a workout when posing) When I arrived to her home on shoot day there was a personalized sign with my name on it which made me so excited to get started! She welcomed me at the door with a mask( I shot during COVID and everything was safe, sanitized and she wore a mask the entire shoot) and Christina, the make-up artist, was already there to get me dolled up. I loved chatting with them both when getting my makeup done, it really made me feel at ease. And Carrie Anne even remembered a lot of what we were chatting about in email and we effortlessly continued our conversation. Once I was made up, we went to the cutest photo shoot set-- it was such a cool vibe. It was private as well so you don't feel awkward and like your in a sterile environment. We went over outfits, she asked for consent on moving my hair or adjusting my lingerie, and then she PUMPED. ME. UP with goddess energy to get started. Honestly, going into the shoot I had so much anxiety but while shooting I just feel like a badass. Carrie Anne was a huge cheerleader and made me feel so comfortable. After the shoot she showed me raw images of what I looked like...I wanted to cry. I was astonished at the poses, angles and most of all the confidence Carrie Anne gave me. Her work speaks for itself, I just knew I had to work with her after seeing shots shared from her many clients on Instagram. There is magic oozing in every photo, and beauty shining from every body type represented. Not only does Carrie Anne have the professional camera skills on lock, she also knows how to model. She led me through my whole shoot, every pose, even helped me into poses I knew I wanted. The experience from beginning to finish was effortless and so much fun despite that I had never done a boudoir shoot before. Her studio has very chill/sultry energy, with perfect natural lighting that isn't too bright, well-placed plants, and the coolest furniture. Her energy is that of a friend you've already known forever. I felt like a goddess and she hyped me up the whole two hours. I come from a past heavily drenched in domestic violence, that has made me feel ugly and guarded for many years. So, this was stepping WAY out of my comfort zone. Carrie Anne made it easy for me to be vulnerable, and I felt safe with her. I could tell right away she is a gentle and compassionate person. I am someone that has always picked myself apart in photos and in the mirror. However, during this experience, I had so many healing moments throughout the photoshoot. One of the most empowering things I've done for myself, and if you're even at all considering booking a boudoir session Carrie Anne is THE best. Truly. Not only is she such a genuine person and really friendly (even before you book the session!), but her whole approach was just refreshing. You will feel so in your element and present in your body even if you've never done something like this before. That's also thanks to her stylist Kat and her wonderful services! After filling out a questionnaire about my style and vision for the shoot she put together a beautiful, cohesive lookbook with all the links to the pieces she picked out. They put so much care and attention to detail into it! It was such a fun experience, and the best part was getting to sit down after the session and see the raw photos. There is nothing but positive things to say about Carrie Anne. Even before time of booking, up until after the photoshoot, she was extremely informative, supportive and available to answer any questions or concerns. I really wanted to find a photographer who I felt I would truly connect with, and despite the nerves going into the session, would allow for such an amazing connection to make the experience what it was. Additionally, how passionate she is about her work, the meaning behind it, and her clients really stood out to me. She has created a space that felt so welcoming and beautiful.
