The staff is always friendly EXCEPT the young bartender (with whom you HAVE to place your to go orders). She was rude and refused to acknowledge me after placing my order to go. When I placed the order she told me it would be 15-20 mins. After waiting for 35 minutes I asked if it was ready yet and was treated very rudely and will just leave it at that. I don't like to leave negative reviews for anyone and I've stopped here often to grab a bite. My friend ordered chicken Alfredo, and was asked if he wanted garlic bread. It's pasta, of course he wants garlic bread. So, now the bill comes. The prices next to our food items are more than the menu price. "It's because you got sour cream, bacon,chives and butter, and....... garlic bread". Not itemized as an extra charge on the bill, just added to the total. By the way , the waitress (Haven), was very attentive and answered all of our questions. Any extra charge should be noted up front. I guess on the potato it's me, but upcharge for garlic bread. Come on man! So,.....advise if extra charges, and maybe notate them on the bill. Last night my family and I dined at Carrabelle's restaurant in Dayton, Tennessee for the first time. The restaurant has been open for a couple of years under different ownership, but I'm usually not the guy to rush out as soon as a place opens. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted at the hostess stand and seated quickly (the dinner crowd rolled in slightly behind us). Our waitress was training a new waiter and both were very friendly and helpful. The appetizer menu had many different options, but we tried the Dragon Shrimp on the recommendation of a friend and coworker. It was delicious! It was so delicious that I might try the Dragon Shrimp Tacos entree on my next visit. My daughter (11) chose one of her normal "safe" menu options of fried chicken tenders with waffle fries while my wife chose the Philly Cheesesteak Panini with waffle fries. I stuck with my modus operandi of narrowing my selection down to two choices and allowing the wait staff to surprise me with their final, better informed decision. While awaiting our food, my family and I made some observations about the restaurant. The dining area is divided from the bar area by a wall which cuts down on the noise while still allowing a good flow back and forth. The dining area had several televisions showing sports and national news channels. The restrooms were clean and well-appointed, although a little more lighting would have made my wife feel better. There is an additional banquet room that can be rented for private events such as wedding rehearsal dinners, corporate parties, or birthdays. Accessibility to the restaurant is good and parking is plentiful, although I have observed some nights when the neighboring restaurant and hotel have made things a little tight. The food came out quickly, but was hot and fresh. My first observation was that the fried items were obviously fried in clean oil and not burned, a practice that is overlooked in most restaurants. My daughter enjoyed her hand-battered chicken tenders and waffle fries. My wife said that her Philly Cheesesteak was delicious, but she would've preferred it on a roll instead of the sliced bread on which it was served. She has a habit that I call "chasing her sandwich" where all of the fillings try to escape from the other side while she's eating. My grilled Mahi sandwich featuring l jalepeno tarter sauce and lettuce on a Brioche bun was good, but the fish was a little bit dry. All in all, I rate the restaurant a 4 out of 5. The wait staff was polite and very attentive. The atmosphere was pleasant. The food was tasty, but I will probably try to break out into the dinner entrees more next time instead of just a sandwich. I would recommend this establishment to all family types as the dining area is separated from the bar and restrooms are accessible without having to go through the bar like most other restaurants. The seating appears to be easily adjustable ensuring that party size shouldn't be an issue. We will definitely be back. read more

I was hoping to give this 5 stars as my father in law loves coming here. I was excited to try something different as we usually go to Cleveland, and there are not many choices unless you want chain restaurants. I had the Steak Panini with the home made chips. Chips were pretty greasy and should have gotten the french fries. Steak had good flavor, however the peppers they used inside had an odd very sweet flavor. Did not compliment the dish at all. The bread seemed like basic itelain bread and was not in panini form. So for that reason it was just a very average meal. My father in law had said the stuffed pork was amazing so that is what he and my husband were going to get, however they were out of it. So my husband got Jambalaya and thought it was good, dad got ribs with a baked potato. Potato looked old. Mom got the salmon with mashed potatoes and really liked it. Both my mother in law and I got a salad, and the cucumbers that were in it looked old and had been frozen as they had that "look". I picked them out and the rest of the salad was good as well as the honey mustard dressing. Nice kick to it. So all in all it was good. However it could be great with a few tweaks to the menu and dishes themselves. Nice atmosphere and our server was attentive and very nice. read more

This place is HORRIBLE. I come here periodically to visit my husband (works for TVA) when I'm in town and the service is always, always bad. I mean like 35 minutes to get a drink, getting the wrong drink when it finally comes, appetizer arrives cold and food arrives so hot you can't eat or cut through it. I honestly don't know how it could get any worse. We explained to the manager what we've experienced and she was kind enough to offer a free dessert but what we would like, is for management to fix the food and the service. We have always wanted to try this place, but usually forget about it until after we've eaten at one of our 'normal' places in Dayton. This time, though, we decided to stop in. First, the menu is fairly limited, A few sandwiches and burgers, steaks, chicken, and a couple of seafood items. They served fresh baked rolls, which might have been great except ours were doughy and uncooked in the middle. I ordered the Nashville hot chicken, and my wife ordered chicken strips. The wait was long- VERY long- even though the place was not busy at all. In the time we sat, our server never checked back with us to see if we needed anything (like rolls that had actually been baked?), or to offer refills. When the food finally did come out, Rather than hot chicken I had a breaded chicken breast covered in gravy. The server came over (it had been brought out by a runner), and took the chicken back to correct the problem. My wife's chicken fingers were marginal at best. The breading was flavorless, and a bit soggy. The chicken itself was overcooked. For sides, she got Macaroni and cheese and cheese grits. Both were pretty good- I had the Mac and cheese as well, and sadly it was actually the standout dish of the evening. I also had the sweet potato fries, which were pretty good. After about 15 minutes, my chicken finally made it out. I have to admit, since they took the old one away, I was a bit scared that they were just going to rinse it off, and 'nashvillize' it... But oddly enough this time it was three chicken fingers with hot sauce, served on a piece of white bread with pickle slices (as proper Nashville chicken SHOULD be!). It was actually pretty good, the sauce was the proper 'sweet hot' without being over the top spicy, and the chicken well cooked. All in all, the food was OK, but the service not so great. The vegetarian options are sorely lacking, but my Nanni and I had a good time. I got a side Caesar salad (tasted great, but there were no croutons which were in the description) and the creamy mashed potatoes (the server was happy to ask the kitchen if they were vegetarian and they are!). My Nanni got the spinach salad with pecans, cranberries, apples, chicken and she said it was delicious. The staff were super nice, the service was prompt, food was good, water refilled in a timely manner. I probably wouldn't go here again simply because of the vegetarian thing and because their menu doesn't specify which side dishes are vegetarian. It's complicated for the server to have to go ask the kitchen and for her to have to come all the way back to the table, then go all the way back to the kitchen. It's possible there is a vegetarian menu, but I wasn't offered one. It would be great if they could offer that! read more

First, can you imagine it took 10 minutes to get waters and 40 minutes to get our drinks and over 90 minutes to get our meal? They said they had been slammed 1 1/2 hours earlier but when we arrived there were only 5 patrons in the restaurant. But in the 2 hours we were there, 5 waitresses did not clear but 2 tables leaving over 12 tables untouched from when the diners left. One pork dish was really delicious but the pizza meal was served on burnt bread with globs of tomato paste somehow posing as pizza sauce...really? Ate here for lunch and was very pleasantly surprised! The fare is "low country southern" which adds some very welcome spice to the usual local country cooking. My group tried the Fried Green Tomatoes appetizer, which was great-but the star of that dish were the grits! Several friends recommended this place to us. It was a nice drive up to Dayton in a Sunday night to meet family and friends so why not give it a try. The service was great! Our waitress was extremely helpful in explaining the menu and offering suggestions. Our drinks were always filled and we were checked on by various staff during our meal! The food was great! Fried Chicken, Salmon, salads and a grilled cheese sandwich. The onion rings were a great appetizer. We will definitely go back and try some of the other options on the menu. The food was a little slow coming out but no worries, we enjoyed chatting and munching on appetizers. But when our entrees did make it to the table, they were hot and delish! The Carrabelle's burger is fantastic and fully loaded. Their waffle fries are very fresh, tender on the inside and a little crunch to the outside. My family has enjoyed many fine meals at Carrabelle's. HOWEVER, today I ordered Chicken Alfredo, which is what I normally order so I know what it normally tastes like. The noodles were luke warm, barely any Alfredo sauce and the chicken had absolutely no flavor. The waitress asked me if there was a problem and I said yes and gave her my explanation as to why I wasn't eating my food, she suggested that I speak to the manager. The manger/owner/cook, Scott Dicorato, came to our table and asked me what the problem was, I told him what I had already told the waitress. I told him how bland it was as well as not being warm and started to suggest that he might need to season his chicken because, seriously, it tasted like boiled chicken, when he very rudely said he didn't need my advice because he had been cooking for 25 years!!! (Big deal buddy, I've been cooking for over 45 years but that's neither here or there.) He was extremely unprofessional and obnoxious. I asked him if his ego was so big that he couldn't listen to what I had to say and he told me he didn't want to hear want i had to say, then said I'm not going to argue with you and walked away from the table!! I was not being argumentative at all. My husband was proud of me for not saying more after his attitude. I would have been satisfied with an apology but I will never go there again to eat because of his dismissive and condescending attitude.
