Delicious egg salad and fries
Sandy A.

Yes yes yes. Oui, Oui, Oui!Discovered this Japanese gem while walking one afternoon, pre-pandemic. This bakery/restaurant is to die for! This little spot caught my attention as there was a line out of the door for the bread. Decided to stop for lunch and was amazed. This is a bread/sandwich spot but the owners have mastered everything and have incredible attention to detail! My delicious egg sandwich came with the crust on the side. And the French fries.... some of the best ever. So glad I found this little gem and can't wait to come back next time I am in Paris! Great lunch spot

Tonkatsu: €18,00

I love a good Tonkatsu sandwich, and you can find exactly that at Carre Pain de Mie; albeit for a pretty steep price point. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Both the service and atmosphere at Carre Pain de Mie are top notch, with a quaint and comfortable Japan simplicity meets French bakery decor that's complimented by excellent tri-lingual service. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? So it's here that I was deterred a bit at Carre Pain de Mie. Maybe it's because I'd just paid only €9,50 for a massive pita sandwich at nearby L'As du Fallafel nearby, but €18,00 for a katsu sandwich, even a large one with a side salad, was an awful lot of money. In fact, I'm not sure I've ever paid that much for a sandwich anywhere, and it's simply too high a price point to not be called out. No Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? While expensive, the Tonkatsu sandwich at Carre Pain de Mie is excellent. You've got soft, fluffy, and flavorful milk bread that's sandwiching a good cut of chicken with a side salad that came as a pleasant surprise. Worth €18,00? No, but among the better katsu sandos that I've had. Two Stars. Star 5: Would you be excited to go back? I'm teetering back and forth on this one again just because of the price points at Carre Pain de Mie especially compared with what you can get nearby, but it doesn't seem right to doubly punish them for prices that they can command. Star.

OMG - I cannot believe I found this place on my last day when I had to leave. So I've tried their samples and they were so good!!!!!! I've taken a back of butter rolls (sweat dough) and one roll with salted butter. I've eaten the savory one on the train and it was as delicious as the sweet ones. This is a place I will definitely visit next time and eat there.

Delicious fusion of Japanese and French fusion. We got the set menu croquet monsier and tonkatsu. Delicious!

Best bakery I've ever been to. The Pain Suisse is now my all time favorite bakery item. The people…read morewere amazing and kind and the service was great as well!

Another great boulangerie. This place is slightly larger than the one down the street with a…read moreslightly wider selection. It gets a cheaper rating but I thought the prices were very comparable to the other boulangeries in the neighborhood.Again they had great croissants (I tried them at every boulangerie we visited) and their large macaron "sandwiches" were also delicious (although not my MOST favorite of the ones we tried in Paris). This place was also just a few steps from our apartment so we visited it a lot as well. None of the women that served us during the week spoke English but again, you don't need much in a boulangerie. The service was always friendly and efficient. Often this place was busy but service was quick. No outdoor seating, and they were open until 8pm which was awesome. Later in the day you'll find that pastries and bread are not as fresh but even though we got macaron "sandwiches" at 7pm and they seemed a little damp from the fresh fruit in them, the taste was delicious. The outer shells of the macarons were slightly tough but the overall texture wasn't bad. the berries (we tried frambriose and fraise, or raspberry and strawberry) were incredibly fresh and tasty. I'm sure if we had purchased them earlier in the day they would have been even better. We also had the coffee eclairs and they were amazing!!! I don't care that much for eclairs as I do no like the type of bread used for them, but these were good enough that I'd get them again. The filling was rich and the coffee taste was outstanding.
