This has been the worst treatment and experience dealing with trying to get a damn 12 x 21 ft. carport to cover a new little trailer RV we wanted to purchased to protect it. Ordered it on Aug 7th 2020 and to this day Oct. 28 2020 have no carport and believe we will NEVER have one, but did give a guy by the name of CHRIS of Carport Central a 420.00 dollar Deposit on it, at the first call when we ordered it. He (Chris) told us we would be receiving a phone call on when they would be coming to install it. (NO CALL) We even talked with many people at AMERICAN METAL, a phone number that we got from Carport Central so we could do the follow up that you might think they would do, but another bunch of misleading promises from them also. Never did we get a return phone call from anyone and had to call them back again for any information on whatever was going on with this carport and if we were ever going to get it installed. Promised install on Oct, 23rd, but a no show with all excuses imaginable, called and promised again on this day Oct.28th. and guess were out of luck again and with another no show. Just a bunch of lies and and misleading scams is all I can figure. I should think this company should be on all the local news channels in GETTING RESULTS segments to protect us from being scammed. I've never felt worse nor have I ever been ripped off the way this unprofessional so called business has done and hope this information will help others to not make the mistake I have, Research was my mistake and I normally know better, UPDATE! After this review the missing carport showed up at our door the following morning and I want to give the installers a big A++++ for there outstanding performance. I wish that the whole experience from ordering to delivery was like this end result. I paid for the concrete out of pocket because I was told they would send me my money as soon as I sent the pictures of the finished pad. well one month later, I've sent pictures of the finished pad to 4 different people, and all 4 of them told me they would call me right back. still haven't had a call from anyone. I've released the concrete money to them from my loan, they won't send me my money. My building is up and I will not be releasing anymore of the loan money to them until I receive my money for the concrete. stay away from these people. Read the contract VERY carefully before you sign!!! I suppose, by pure chance, it all works out for some people some of the time. But the odds are stacked against you based on the contract language. Please take your time reading the contract so you can fully understand what you're getting into! And ask to see the contract before you turn over your money. I thought it was strange that they require you to make a deposit BEFORE they send you the contract. Now I understand why - their contract is horrible for the customer but Carport Central has themselves totally covered and I think they assume most people won't read the contract. It's all there in the many pages of print...they do not manufacture or install the carports, they're just a middleman and are not responsible for anything that goes wrong, they don't guarantee the workmanship, they can't guarantee an installation date, if the project is delayed they can change the amount, the subcontractor can add additional charges, etc. Most importantly, you can't get your deposit back once you sign, no matter the reason!!! Basically, you as the customer are assuming all the risk and taking a huge gamble. I wish I had read the Yelp reviews before wasting my time with Carport Central. Despite the clear terms of our agreement, which included receiving timely support and action from their side, not only did they fail to deliver on their promises, but I was also left having to chase them down every step of the way. Initially, there was a problem with our site not being level despite being approved when we sent in the photo. We corrected the site and sent in a new photo. Now no one will return our calls, texts, or emails. Piles of materials were offloaded and left in our driveway and we were charged $300 for the offloading. I've never dealt with an entity so unprofessional and inconsiderate. This company was more than happy to take our money then abandon the project. They're holding my $2117 deposit hostage based on a hurried Docusign & in the end, the metal fabricators they're 3rd partied with can't even build the $12k+ building according to wind hazard safety standards in the south Houston area, which was clear in a memo with a map of my area from the builders. Off the bat, be very very wary of this outfit. They do have numerous positive reviews and that can not be questioned. I ordered a building in 2024. Carport Central provided associate installer names as required by the county for permitting. I asked for my down payment back many times over. They refer to the contract and claim they had significant investment in the order. Not so. Contract companies that are not registered, made up information etc. Then they wanted me to pay for a contractor to get his general contractors license in the county. Initially I was called by the manufacturer to verify door and window placement. The last from ABN never called and I needed changes. I asked for better communication multiple times. Never happened. The person I was dealing with send me documents for signature that included a room with no door or window. They do not check their work prior to sending it for signature. Incompetence, substandard design tools, one sided contracts etc. I was told that my concrete has to cure for two weeks and then they install. Three months after and I still have no building. Do Not Use This Company!!! Purchased in good faith knowing I would need to permit my desired 12'x25' RV cover. I was assured that a refund would be possible if it did not work out. After about 6 or more weeks going back and forth with the city and Complex Steel(a Carport Central subcontractor), I felt like both parties were holding me hostage for information the other party wanted. After the city forced me to place the all steel non-combustible cover no closer than 5' from my house and the property line causing the structure to be reduced to 10'x25', I decided it just wasn't worth it. I forfeited my city fees, but my Carport Central contract states: " b. If an order is canceled prior to manufacturing, the deposit can be refunded but will incur a transaction fee of the greater of $50 or 25% of the deposit amount." I should receive a refund of about $525. The company is now ghosting me. I have written to my sales person, Jason, repeatedly, but he has not responded. I advise all buyers to do due diligence. I can't believe a company is allowed to operate the way they do. I wish I would have researched them better before placing an order. It's been 14 months since I placed an order for a building. I've gotten every excuse on their list about why the order can't be fulfilled. I got tired of waiting and asked for a refund of my down payment. I was told the contract states it is non refundable. How can a company not fulfill their end of the deal yet keep your money? Calls to the manager go unanswered and unreturned. I wish I had read the reviews on this company before selecting them. We have been trying to get our bldg installed for months. We obtained all the permits, had the foundation completed, inspected and ready to go and we've still dont have our bldg installed. They dont communicate and give you FAKE install dates, then change it after you give them your deposits and payments for the next process. They gave us a May 9th install date so we could pay money then quickly called us back to say that date won't work, and still have not given us a firm install date. I do a lot of business in construction and think these guys did a really great job end-to-end. I am curious if a lot of these reviews are from people who don't work in/affiliated with the industry because construction in particular (material prices, timelines, quality, etc.) has been slammed across the board. I spoke to a salesman about a small steel building. He gave me a price gouging quote that was ridiculous. I asked if he would price match apples for apples. The salesman would not match any of the 3 quotes for the same building they were selling for $5K more. When I asked why his was more than everyone else his response was because ours are better. I ordered my building on March 25th and called several times but couldn't get them to answer.. i finally got through to them in May and was told that they didnt know when they would be able to start. They finally called me last week and said they would be here this week. Not only was I charged more than $400 more than what my contract stated, when the contracted builders showed up 2 days late they didn't have reliable equipment to do the job. My wife had to jump their truck off the first day and I got a call at 7:30 am stating that they needed another jump at their hotel 20 minutes from my house and of course another jump off to allow them to leave. They currently have $4,759.83 since 2020 and I still have no building. I ordinally put the down payment for a garage and to keep my original estimate that carport central quoted me on. The company is several months behind and when I told them to start the new building the quote increase 4x the original estimate. I understand covid hit and prices had to increase, I am okay with that, however, when the price increase 4x in less than 6 months in 2022 from literally April 2022 til Aug 2022??? Critical: Professionalism BEWARE!: I purchased a metal garage from Alan's Factory Outlet who apparently subbed the job out to this company known as Carolina Carports, Inc. [FYI; when Alan of Alan's Factory Outlet finally heard about this situation, he went way beyond the call of duty to offer an enormously generous offer to help rectify things; Alan is a 'stand-up' guy with great principals]. Be sure to read Carolina Carport's mostly negative reviews first before doing business with this firm. When they came to my home to install my garage, the installer had forgotten to bring 4 windows which went with my building. Accidents happen, and that is not the problem I have with this outfit. In general, they did a nice job except for one rear corner where they ruined the entire piece of siding by butchering some type of horrible metal cutting work--this was not necessary with even the slightest of care about how my job looked. Now I am stuck with an ugly sharp jagged shard and edge with is rusting and just waiting to slice someone's foot who ventures near not realizing the danger. Furthermore, when the installer came back about 3 months later to install the 4 missing windows, they brought with them a very bad abusive attitude blaming me for some reason. While here they began to dismantle my building in an aggressive manor until I asked them to just leave the windows with me to install myself. They did just that, and conveniently left my once newly constructed building falling apart with screws removed all my driveway. I am very disturbed about all of this; when I emailed Alan's factory Outlet to discuss these issues with them, a lady named Suzie instantly passed me on to Carolina Carports and a lady named Heather Smith. Heather began ridiculing me almost immediately and made the following statement to me which I resent: "why are we even having this conversation in the first place?",where she pointed out that the warranty period had passed. How condescending, rude, and inconsiderate can anyone be to address anyone in this manor? Having just recently installed a walking pathway back behind my garage, I had only recently gone around back where I finally noticed the shard dangerous jagged siding slash. There is no excuse for this kind of workmanship even if it is near the back. Then every time I saw it again, I became more and more concerned about this workmanship and the danger the shard shards can pose to someone's bare foot. I have attached a photo of the sharp jagged ripped metal which their installer did and left like that. Heather said the garage is now out of the warranty period, but that she would drop off a new piece of siding for me to do myself; and at no time offered me any apology for the behavior of their contractor, or the terrible siding cut which they had left. We finished the concrete and were told they would be here the end of the following week. We called to confirm They were coming and were told they were shut down by the state of NY for failing to have workers compensation insurance. Regardless of Covid-19 or not you are required as a contractor to keep your insurance in force, we had to with our businesses, why shouldn't they? You do not want to do business with Car Port Central they notified me today that they have up to 8 months by contract to build your car port barn or whatever they sell you. Beware of this company if you need to obtain a building permit in your jurisdiction. They do not have fabricators that are licensed in my jurisdiction, nationally or internationally. I was assured by the salesman that they had done a lot of RV carports in my state and could comply with our city codes. I found that this was a lie when I submitted the engineered plans to the city. Lots of opportunity for it being the other guys problem and pointing fingers. They must be all be related somehow. I also requested and paid 275.00 for building plans so I could submit it to the city planners. I received the name and number of the Washington@getcarports.com contact and still no response from the person listed. I have placed numerous phone calls and many emails and I have received no status or answers to questions or return phone calls of any kind.. They gave me generic concrete pad information to have poured to have my carport. I sent pictures to make sure it was good. They said they would get back to me. They did not and they did not let me know when they would be building my carport. I had to call them again. Please make sure you read the fine print before signing. I was immediately relieved when the sales person knew exactly what I was talking about. I had been calling several companies to compare prices so I almost felt like I knew more about the products than many of the ones I had called before. I called to set them up to put the building up,the builder they use had canceled my order( they never even called me to tell me this ,I found out when I called and told them I was ready to build) then I was told it would be now another 9500.00 cause of price increases and when I said no I would want my money back on a 7500.00 deposit they offered a little over 1000.00. Carport central took my money first before they gave me the contract. I couldn't build the garage, it was too big for my yard. I told them about it & they wouldn't refund me at least half of my deposit back. They should of gave me the contract first & told me to get a permit before taking $1700 from me. If you buy from them you might want to read the contract first before giving them money. They will ask for your money first tell them no. Don't expect to have your garage/shed build right away. It took 8 months just to get an engineer plan. They don't call you to tell you why it's taking so long to come out and build it, they just keep making excuses. This people are scam artists. I first reached out to Justin brim I told him my only concern was time frame considering we have a business we are starting and needed a spray booth built. He ensured that us was six weeks or less we have all the emails to prove everything. We were purchasing a 30x41 garage. After this lead time was ensured to us we then pulled the financing so now we have an open line of credit with these scammers and now we are told after signing the contract it was an 11-14 week lead time. Was so confusing. Last Friday Justin called us asking us to finish signing the contracts but the door placement was not right and we didn't feel comfortable I think he knew the lead time was bogus and maybe he was worried we were going to back out. Or maybe he wanted his commission check. So now we have this contract all based off a lie and come Monday we call Candra at the manufacturing company and she told us the real time 11-14 weeks. We can't do this. We would have never signed up with them if we were told this. Candra said she has never heard of that short of lead time and he should have not said that. All these calls are recorded told to me by chip the finance manager this morning with the gm as he threatened me he would pull them and post them on the internet if I wrote what happened there which made me laugh because it would completely show how bad they are and scammers. I reached out to everyone I could Monday and then told Kay who is head of customer service we wanted our deposit back to go put on something else and nothing. It's Thursday and after many emails and I mean many which we have them all from day one and all the call logs that chip said he'd get for us. So please reach out if you want this info and know you are dealing with the scum of the earth. Finally today after having a three way call with Eric in customer service chip in financing and Jeffery the gm getting no where and them also saying we signed the contract. I'm shocked that a business can continue to run being ran the way it is. I am following up with the bbb ive posted a complaint on there and have filed them under scam and frauds so soon we will know. I'm also reaching out to the finance company and the credit bureaus to let them know how these people pull you in with lies especially if they know what you need most and get you to sign. Who asks a person to sign a contract that's not even correct and it's around 24 grand. These people have no consideration for anyone but their fat belly paychecks. Carport central I challenge you to tell the world how you justify this and how you tried to justify all this on the phone this morning. Good day. Added to my post. Oh wait and another thing if it were me and someone said this stuff about me but it wasn't true I mean publicly too I'd get a lawyer to sue them for slander but that's not happening here you're just trying to push me around and act like it's our fault. Have fun being audited this could have been a lot easier if you guys took responsibility and got her credit report the pull you guys did and open line of credit removed. Ordered a 36X21 Oct 19th, 2016. Was quoted 4-6 weeks. Week 5 received a call from the manufacturer NOT CARPORT CENTRAL to tell me that they needed to setup a "SITE VISIT". This was NOT disclosed when I placed my order and paid the deposit. I thought the call was to setup an installation date. The guy doing the site visit could NOT come for 3 weeks. He shows and tells me that "everything looks great" 2 weeks later I am called again by the manufacturer and told that they CANNOT INSTALL MY BUILDING due to ground not being level. My contract states that I might incur additional charges if the installer needs to adjust onsite" It doesn't state "we will keep your downpayment and tell you to take a hike" Zach McMillan of Carport Central told me "sorry, your deposit is non refundable and your out of luck, I hope that you will do business with us again." DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE GUYS.
