Honestly had a great experience from beginning to end. They took my info, within a few days a sales lady came to look at my space and brought some samples and offered that I look at their larger selection at their warehouse/showroom. When i stopped by the showroom, I was mostly left alone to look at carpet samples (which i preferred because their selection is HUGE). I selected one that they didn't have in stock so I had to wait 2 weeks for installation which was fine. The installers were great and it's been almost a year and I haven't had any issues with the carpet or installation. In terms of pricing, they're very comparable to Home Depot so if I had to do it again, I'd go with them again for the larger selection. read more

I'd give Carpet King * * * * Four Stars in that I'd recommend anyone looking to get carpeting done, to do their own homework and research and consider Carpet King. Their prices include, as I was told, the installation (which encompasses, their outsourcing of the labor that will move your furniture, remove your existing carpeting, clean the area to prepare for the new carpeting, professionally secure and place the padding and carpeting and dispose (they take the trash with them) your old carpet, and then vacuum the area). We're not sure if we got a good price, a great price or could have gotten a better price. The problem with shopping for carpets is that you can pay $2 per sq ft or $4 per sq ft or more, depending on the brand and grade of the carpet which at times, with so many options to choose from is a bit overwhelming to the point of confusion and sensory overload. We were charged $2,900 to cover 3 bedrooms (incl. closets) which was about 600 sq ft in surface area. It seemed confusing at first in that the installation was to be included, and they broke it down to $2,600 for the carpet paid cash in advance, then $300 for the installation, to be paid directly to the independent contractor at the time (after) the work was completed. My wife said "read the contract" before you sign and pay. Highlights include: 1) There is a 15% cancellation fee before the delivery date and an 85% cancellation fee if the carpet is cut and delivered; 2) Deposits are not refundable, and there's a whole section about remnants and specials and the penalties for cancellations; 3) On the back of the agreement there are terms and conditions of what the installer will, won't and can't do for you... be aware of those considerations and rules.; and 4) The Carpet Kings accept no liability for the work of the Contractors, so if you have an issue with that aspect, they'll just give you contact info for you to deal with and step aside, not getting involved. Fortunately, we didn't have any problems. Our installer, Luis Mercado and his assistant were great. They came on time, did the work, which took about 6 hours in total in one day and helped move back the furniture ('tho, the bed frame wasn't put back together correctly, so I had to re-do that later myself), and I even tipped 'em for their hard work, service with a smile and consideration. I'm the type of client/customer who tries to help service providers. At a restaurant, I often wipe the table down before and stack the dishes organized after the meal. In this case, I moved most of my stuff out, leaving only about 2-4 pieces of large furniture in what looked like a near vacant home, to help them do their job (and it's in my best interests too, saving time and avoiding any property damages). I know our contractor told us that Home Depot was one of the best places for Carpet, as they offer Free Installation with purchase, but you have to look at the price of the carpet and then add in the 1/2" padding sold separately as your "all in" total cost. At Carpet King, the price you get is for carpet with 1/2" padding (I'm sure they have thicker padding as a premium option too). So, take that into consideration if comparison shopping. The other intangible you get with Carpet King that you'd not get with a DIY project is the accurate measurements. It's not necessarily brain surgery nor one of precision, as it's generally over measured a bit to consider stretching the carpet and not wanting to fall short. Carpet King is in the SGV, we're in the South Bay, which takes 30-45 mins to drive. Alan Lee was our contact at Carpet Kings and he took the time to measure our rooms, bring samples of available carpet and colors (you really should visit the store 'tho, as we did initially, you'll get a sense of the scope of their selection which you can touch and feel and compare to one another) and drew up the contract with an at-home visit to us. He's a really personable and nice guy, he's bi-lingual, fluent in English, a charismatic sales provider. He answers calls and emails, so is a good communicator as well. We were referred to Carpet King from a previous family experience over a decade ago, so they're a long standing business who services a lot of the SGV, I think they've grown to have a large share of the carpeting market in the area. I've read some of the other reviews on Yelp, some good, others bad, but most of the negative comments revolve around installation which they do refer and assign to you, but have no responsibility for. I'd requested specifically that I wanted English speaking installers, as I wanted to be able to communicate my needs to a service provider. I was assigned bi-lingual Spanish/English guys. I didn't have any problems. I'd say this, as with any other agreement / contract, discuss and negotiate before you sign an agreement and pay, having all of your requests addressed and questions answered first, not after you pay/sign leaving you no leverage read more

She didn't wait for me to finish explaining what I need help for, and just cut me off and asked in a condescending tone "what do you want?" as if it was such a bother to be the person manning the phone. I have no idea what those who said this place provided good service experienced. First, I called right after 4pm, and was told by the reception that they were almost ready to close, when Google says they open until 5pm. When we arrived within 5 min, the lady gave us a "just that size" "how come you don't understand" face...sigh, I don't want to say anything about the productions, since I was no longer interested in getting anything from them. Sadly the lady must have felt there was nothing wrong with her, but us who were looking for trouble. I was going to get some new carpet for my second floor. This place came highly recommended from one of my friends. I came by during lunchtime. It was a hot day. To my surprise it was even hotter inside. I couldn't even stand the heat outside, theres was no way I can take the the heat inside. Their showroom must of been 100 degrees in there. First of all they do have good pricing and selection so if you're one of those people who don't care about service and only pricing then I'd recommend Carpet King. However if you want the carpet to be installed properly and expect good after-sales customer care DO NOT COME HERE. The out-sourced installer "ran out" of trim to make sure where the carpet meets tile is properly installed. He promised to come back "soon" to finish the job. We called the installation guy twice, no answer. Left messages, no calls returned. I called Jason Xia, our sales rep to let him know the situation and all he tells me is the standard Chinese sales pitch "no problem, I'll handle it". 2 days later, no response so I call Jason back and tells me the same thing "no problem". 4 days later, no response. By now the carpet is starting to pull away from the floor and I keep tripping over the damn edge. So I call Jason back and he tells me the install guy will come "sometime" before the weekend. Friday rolls around and Jason tells me the install guy will come right away make sure you're home. WTF some of us work you know--you can't give me 1 hour notice to go back home. I tell him we can't be home until 11am. Guess what...11am rolls around and the install guy still doesn't show. I call Jason back and all he does is give me the install guy's phone number. All-in-all it's been a frustrating process. I usually reserve extra patience when dealing with low-cost Chinese suppliers, but don't blow me off with your "no problem" bit and not handle the issue at hand. Needless to say I will not be recommending Carpet King to any of my friends--in fact I will tell them to spend the extra money and go somewhere with better service and installation quality. read more

When I went to Carpet King to get an estimate, I worked with a saleswoman named Anna Zhou. I told Anna that I needed carpet for a rental property. At first, she showed me a couple of carpets that are cheaper in price and quality with a light tan color. I told her I wanted a darker color carpet with better quality so it'll have longevity. I then pointed at the exact carpet and color that I wanted. She quoted me a total of $820.00 and asked for a $300 deposit. On the day of the installation, the carpet installer brought me a carpet that was a DIFFERENT color. I asked him to stop installing the carpet, but he would not listen to me, even though the color was wrong, and continued to install the carpet. The installer proceeded to tell me that "this happens all the time and there's nothing you can do." At this point, I went to Carpet King to confront Anna Zhou, the saleswoman, and she told me that she wrote the stock number and it is correct. However, the stock number means nothing to me. All I know is that, I went to the store and pointed out the exact carpet I wanted and what was being installed was totally different. As I was at the store informing her that they are installing the wrong carpet, Anna insisted that it was the one I originally ordered and wouldn't do anything about it. She said if I wanted a different color (THE CORRECT COLOR), I would have to pay for both. Clearly this is a case of bait and switch. They wanted to get rid of another product and unloaded the burden onto me. Make sure to ask for a sample piece when you place your order so they won't switch your product and insist that it is the same one you wanted. The installer, Bao Quan Sun, who Carpet King sent over for our job, was terrible and had an attitude problem. For our job, the installer came over, spent more time eating than doing the work. Worse, he ate at our kitchen and never bothered to clean up, so at the end of the work day, we had to clean up after the installer that we hired. The more important deficiency, though, was the work quality. For a large portion of the flooring, the installer "forgot" to place the underlayment. We were lucky to discover the issue and address it with the installer, otherwise we would have had a half ass job done on our flooring. Also, the installer was not prepared; he didn't have any tools with him and expected us to provide all the tools. Finally, the installer was absolutely the laziest installer. When he had dirt or glue on his hands, instead of cleaning it off, he would just wipe it on the flooring that he just installed. The finished product required additional cleaning. A family member of ours had worked with them before, and we went with them based on their experience. Although it was just for a single play room, their sales persons were attentive and very knowledgeable. Anna was our main contact, and she was great to work with. We asked for a quick turn around and they accommodated us without a bat of the eye. We wanted DuPont Stainmaster, but they offered an in stock alternative that was just as nice. Installation was so-so, because they could've done a better job on the stairs. Best tip I could give you is to go with in stock inventory, because they offer great prices on them. read more

I've used them to carpet my home twice. Once in 2003 and again in 2014. In both instances I selected "remnant" carpet which is essentially excess carpet from larger projects. It's in the back, just ask them about it. You can get good quality carpet for much lower prices this way. The selection varies depending on when you go with remnant carpets but they do have a fairly large selection. Once again in 2014 they did a good job for a good price. Our sales rep was Jason Xia. He came to our house, measured things out and gave us a quote. We paid a down payment, and then final payment upon completion. Installers showed up on the date and time agreed and were done fairly quickly. It helped that we had everything cleared out for them so they could get right to work. The installers work hard for little so be sure to offer them a drink maybe even a tip if you like what they did. So if you are a consumer on a budget like we ware in both instances it is worth your time to pay Carpet King a visit. read more

This review is based on my moms & my combined review of this store's services. Compared to Best Buy on Carpets in Monrovia, Carpet King gave better prices for carpet installation. They were more accommodating, & came to visit the condo several times. They measured the square footage of the areas we wanted carpeted, and they came up with less square footage measurements than Best Buy on Carpets did. So that's why we went along with Carpet King Tina Zhang was the lady who helped us. The only thing I didn't like was that they wanted to charge my credit card for borrowing their carpet samples. However, they returned it right back to me when I brought them back. Best Buy on Carpet didn't charge me anything to borrow their carpet & wood-flooring samples. read more

I routinely visit their remnant room to select a carpet and then ask for custom size to be made, with large area rugs (including sealed edges) ranging from $150 - $300. we purchased a carpet for $1300, it's not some rug and it was customed ordered. when we first ordered, our rep told us only take 7 days, on the 7th days, she called and said need another week. my boyfriend was very patient with her, ok we said. then a week later, the rep said called again, delay delivery for another week. we were getting upset because this customed rug is gift for my home office, my office furnitures were scattered all over the office space due to waiting for this rug to arrive and set in. we complaint the wait is too long, they kept giving us an excuse it's in factory.. etc.. just when we feel like pulling teeth out of these people, the rep called and set delivery on following friday. carpet was ordered in begining of july, delivered date was july 20, full 3 weeks later.... that's the first thing, delay delivery. when the rug arrived, was carried on the pickup truck the tip end of rug was falling off the truck. when the delivery guy rolled it out, there were bad ripples on the rug. we contacted the rep and she came over to 'examine' herself, she ruled out was manufacturer issue, actually, a rug in this price should be carry in full flat bed and not dangling out of some pick up truck. we knew the rug was damaged and no other bs can dissolve the ripples on this rug. they denied it's their problem. i'll say, if you tend to buy anything from them, beware because they delayed delivery first, then when it's delivered was damaged and denied it's their problem or even offer any kind of solution, it's really not an good experience, in fact, i think they're looking for some one-time buyer who never tend to give repeat business. that's just not the right way to do things. of course, we'll never buy from them, not spending $$$ to get such bad taste in our mouth, at someone else's mercy if they deliver good product in the end without fighting tooth and nails... read more
