Hole in the wall

Ordered new flooring from their Colorado Springs location for our new house to be installed. The whole deal has turned into a nightmare. We were told Levi, the gentleman that initially helped us, wrote down and ordered the wrong flooring for our kitchen. We found out when the installer had us verify before tearing our existing floor up a few days after the carpet was installed. The installers left upset they were not getting paid that day after not working all week. When we called them about it, and Levi was out of the office. The person we spoke to made us feel like we were not being truthful and trying to change our order on them. They told us that they would see what they could do about it. Our realtor was involved in this transaction and knew what flooring we chose as we were in close contact that day and I had my wife on video chat while we chose the flooring as she is a DOD employee and was still working at our old location. Then they took the money out of my account for the kitchen floor with no resolution in place and no call or notification that they were. My realtor asked if she would like us to call them because she was the one that referred us to them and Carpet Exchange mistakenly put her name as the person the flooring was sold to and us as the "Ship To". So she called them. I was called and told that Levi did not remember anything about our visit. I was told to come into their store to show them the flooring I chose. I understand errors and we have been very understanding. When I arrived, Levi was "off" again and I felt like the older gentleman that was there was using every tactic he could to make it not their fault and get me to admit something. After several minutes of back and forth explaining things and showing him the correct flooring, He said they would get it taken care of and I went home. After several days of waiting I was talking to my realtor who called Carpet Exchange wondering what's going on seeing her name is on the job too. Only then, did Brock (another new person) call me and say that he "needed to inspect the existing floor again" because Levi wrote the existing flooring down as a more expensive Tile and Concrete removal which the first installers that came out with the wrong flooring stated it was not. When Brock arrived he admitted that Levi did write the correct flooring down originally but ordered the wrong flooring. He said he saw what he wrote down. He looked at the existing flooring and the hole the carpet people put in the wall and told us he would get it resolved. He also took pictures of the hole. This was Nov 18. We have been understanding and very nice to this point. We recorded everything because you know... big businesses... On Nov 22nd I sent Brock a text stating that all of the delays and the way this has been handled was unacceptable. This morning, (23rd), Levi, who hasn't made any effort to contact us throughout this whole dilemma calls us and starts telling us that we are not allowed to be upset about the situation and started finding ways to pick our conversation apart. I presented all the evidence and he did not care and said that they cannot do the job and is going to refund the money for the job. I asked him the amount and it was not the same amount that was on the Job sheet he gave me and started giving me more excuses about how they got the taxes wrong. I told Levi to refund our money and contact their corporate management to get in touch with me. He told me that he would see if he could get them to call me and that it's up to them. I then told Levi that they are to have somebody at my house immediately to fix the damage their installers didn't tell them about. All this because Levi wrote the wrong thing down, was not at work, and left his other people to deal with the issue. That was one of the last things Brock told me. I informed Levi that we are going to contact corporate and post reviews about our experience and he told us to go ahead with our empty threats and treating us like he is above us during this last conversation and he cannot be touched. In contrast, Brock was very helpful and we hit it off pretty good when he came over. Then Levi called. Great job Carpet Exchange!

My wife and I didn't even consider Carpet Exchange. I initially received 3 quotes: one from a Carpet Warehouse, one from a licensed contractor on Craigslist, and one from Home Depot. We were driving by Carpet Exchange as we discussed HD's lack of customer service (the woman at HD couldn't be more unhelpful if she tried). So, we stopped by Carpet Exchange and met Randy. He was really helpful, not at all pushy, and explained the different grades/weaves of carpet and underlay (pads) and their pricing. We priced something similar at all establishments ... about middle of the road (a massive step up from our contractor grade). And we set up an appointment for measuring. The gentleman that came by to do the measuring was on time, polite, ex-Navy, and as friendly as could be. What a massive difference between him and the other company's estimators/measurers (HD had charged $50 for an estimate, in hindsight it was such a rip off). We discussed all the work that was needed, some of it custom (we did wood risers on our stairs), and he was very helpful and easy to work with. Their measurements were within 10 sq feet of two of the other company's measurements. Weirdly enough, Home Depot's measurement was almost 200 square feet higher than all the other companies. The quotes that returned were all within a few hundred (except for HD - they were almost $1200 more even with free installation). But the Carpet Exchange experience, thus far, was much better than with anyone else. Randy offered us a military discount to sweeten the deal so, after a little bit of discussion, we paid for the full install and went with them. Their hard floor installer (Matthew J) showed up about a week later (Saturday) to do all the risers. They were very helpful, professional, and pleasant to work with. And had all the stairs complete within a few hours. And this past Saturday, Jose came by to do the carpet install. He, and his crew, were un-believably efficient and professional. Their work ethic was outstanding. We only had one issue ... he was afraid that we were shorted carpet and wouldn't have enough. We called and spoke to Dave. Dave was outstanding ... arranging for more carpet to be delivered and a new install date to finish. But Jose worked so efficiently, with almost zero offcuts and waste, that he was able to complete the job with barely a foot to spare. Since their measurements were so close to the other companies, I am inclined to think that maybe the warehouse that provided the carpet may have shorted them a few yards. Overall, my experience with Carpet Exchange has been so positive that I will recommend them to everyone I know. And honestly, if you went with another company (like I initially considered), I think you paid too much. They will be the first company I call for any floor needs moving forward. This review is a small token of my appreciation for a business that is doing things right.

I have no experience with their flooring installations, but I do not recommend using them for counter tops. They sub-contract to another company that has several bad reviews. Had I known, I would have gone with someone else. Our experience with the sub-contracted company was terrible. I had to call and leave several messages and wait days for them to call me back. They left the job halfway done for nearly two weeks. When the job was completed, we noticed they put in a damaged piece of quartz as our backsplash. I'm really unhappy with my experience but I don't want them coming back to my house. I definitely would not use them again for counters, and probably wouldn't for floors either because it appears they don't mind sacrificing quality to save themselves some money.

I am currently on the fence about my reading. We had counters done by carpet exchange in March, and the install an entire process was excellent. I was very impressed for a purpose store to have such good prices and good install. We made several visits to the store to discuss our flooring choices for a large project, approximately 1500 feet of carpet and vinyl plank. So we felt that we were valued customers with all of our visits and questions. We had two visits to the house to get proper measurements done. When our carpet was installed on two levels in four different rooms and a hallway, it was done perfectly and we love it. When are vinyl plank was installed, that's where the problems began. We were sent an outside contractor, not someone directly from the store. There was zero oversight on our project. The contractor tore out the old flooring in one morning and then left and said he would return later, and he never did and it was our job to contact the store to find out he was not coming back that day so we had to sit home all day and have a torn up kitchen and dining room. He return the next day to finish and Made cutting errors in several spots, leaving visible gaps between the vinyl plank and baseboard. He put the quarter round trim in the wrong place so he didn't have enough for where it is supposed to be installed. He nailed every 8 inches into the threshold between the plank and the carpet, and that is a threshold that is supposed to be glued within adhesive and no nail holes. When he finished he could not find two pieces of our original baseboard so that is another mystery, So we've had missing baseboard and a big chunk of drywall off in the kitchen all week. He dinged our newer refrigerator in four areas. We never heard from the store manager during that entire process or the next day for follow up so it was our job to contact the store and let them know how poorly the install had gone. The store manager came out and examined everything, took photos and fully agreed but admitted that we were supposed to have one of their better installers not this guy. Well that's a little too late and why were we given some random installer? New pieces had to be ordered and a date had to be scheduled two weeks out because their best guy isn't available for two weeks. So a project that was supposed to be done a few weeks ago is now in limbo status and we aren't even sure if all the right replacement products are in order. So our carpet went well and our counters went perfectly, but this is turning out to be a bit of a fiasco thanks to someone sending an unprofessional installer, after telling us they would send "their best guy." Why wouldn't a business always send their best guys? So they admittedly hire poor installers. Management even said out loud "why was that installer here?" How should we know?? I lowered from 3 stars to 2 upon just finding out that even tough the manger was here last week and saw and photographed all the errors, not enough product was ordered to make the repairs next week. They want to send the best installer this time, whoever supposed to have the first time, so he can assess the situation and see what else he needs to order. Which means yet another day at home waiting for repairs. You would think the manager could order the proper amount of replacement material after visiting the house. I was told they want to see what pieces they can salvage when the repair person comes. So after having a port install, they want to salvage pieces with nails in them and reuse them? I am getting more frustrated by the day

I had Carpet Exchange install this gorgeous oak floor. The sand and finish technician was so fast and helped me choose the perfect color to match my kitchen cabinets . I also purchased this amazing area rug which gave the whole house color and life! The prices were the best that I have ever found on rugs. Four months ago they put carpet in all bedrooms and my loft. The carpet selection was huge and again, the prices were the lowest in town. Everyone in the store was helpful and my sales lady spent many hours with me so I could get exactly what I wanted for each project. I would highly recommend shopping at the store .

If I could give this place zero stars I would. They will screw up whatever order you put in no matter how easy it is.

I had never heard of them, but I am sure glad they were mentioned to me! This is one of the discount carpet places that sells discontinued carpeting and it is so worth it! After visiting several different places and not being able to find anything even close to my existing carpet color, I walked in and was helped by Kay. She very quickly helped me find a similar color and quality product for my basement. she definitely knows her stuff! Not only that, but it was such a reasonable price! I think the only minimal downside was the carpet installers and their slight carelessness in getting the carpet into the basement. After forcing down a couple chunks of carpet where they scratched up the banisters and the front door they started folding it differently so that they could get it down easier in subsequent trips, but I would not say that they were extremely careful. One of the trips where one of the guys was trying to carry it down and it unrolled. Instead of going back up the stairs, re-rolling it and making it down without incident, instead they forced the carpet down the stairs. Not horrible, but not excellent either. For this I knock off a star. Dealing with everyone here was very easy, professional and there were no complications at all. Need carpet? I recommend this business highly! Go here first! The carpet meets my expectations and looks really nice!

We picked out what we wanted and my husband told them he had a history of being in the wood business and wanted their best installer to do the work. They showed up on time and for the first 3 hours we were very happy. I stepped out for a couple of hours and when I came back, the progress was moving right along. Around dinner time I opened up our microwave and one of the workers had used it and his lunch exploded all over the inside. None of them ever asked for permission to use it and even though the employee was reprimanded, they never cleaned it up. In the process of laying down the floor they use some type of glue. One of the employees stepped in it and tracked it in the living room, kitchen and dining room. Water didn't clean it up. Floor cleaner didn't clean it up. I was afraid to use anything else because I didn't want to ruin the finish. It took two weeks before someone came out to finish cleaning the spots. This was back at the end of February beginning of March. Then we ended up in Covid times and we couldn't show off the floor to our friends. If it had been done on time we could have celebrated it. We had talked to the salesperson about having vent covers made out of wood. When the installers came we asked about them. He knew nothing-they were not on the truck. The salesperson should have called us to let us know they weren't available in our wood type. When we asked about them, we were quoted that we could get some and they would be $70 each. Why wouldn't they tell us this at the outset? I ended up painting and reinstalling the ones we took out. First one went in fine. Second one was tight. The other three would not fit because the holes were not cut right. When the manager came to inspect the work, we noted that a piece of the wood had a defect in it. He said they could try to remove it but couldn't guarantee that the repair would be 100% because of the location it was in. Since then, I was sitting at the dining room table, and my sock caught on a split in the wood. It's hardly visible but certainly would have been noticed at installation. With the problems that we had I dread having to call them to fix the split wood. Historically, they wouldn't call back anyway. Even before installation, the calls my husband made weren't returned or weren't returned until up to a week later. We so regret going with Floor Traders. If you decide to, I hope you have a better experience then we did.

Very good communication about product availability and when the carpet that was very affordable arrived at the warehouse. I enjoyed shopping local with an experienced sales person, and not dealing with a big box store. The carpet selection was discussed with her and she helped in the decision. Large selection of premium carpet and pad samples in the show room at economy to various diamond premium price points. Bought carpet during a holiday sale before the end of the year. Scheduling of install was easy and worked around our limited availability. The sale person even had the installers scheduled to move a upright 44 inch Baldwin piano and furniture into the garage. I felt appreciated for the purchase by installers and the main installer did an excellent job with the skim coat to smooth out a dip in the expansion seams and the other veteran installer fixed two creaky stairs. Very friendly and I would hire that team again. The team was quick but took the time to clean by the truck and all of the carpet strains near cuts off the floor and baseboards. Attention to detail and pride in finished product shows. I didn't have to clean up in the driveway or street , when install team left. Experienced staff and service. Will use this OBriens carpet one flooring on academy rd in colorado springs again. Thank you. I recommend this location to anyone looking for an excellent experience and careful handling of process from selection of flooring to final install and clean up.
