Carousel Consignments is something else - I have never seen a store so packed with stuff yet impeccably organized and clean. The majority of what they have would be in the realm of housewares and decor - tons of glass, porcelain, pottery, figurines, cookie jars, crystal etc. From Fiestaware (at rock bottom prices!) to carnival glass, they have it all, they have a lot of it and it's all organized by item type and in many cases color too. Things are nearly arrayed in shelves that go way higher than I can reach so bring a tall friend (or husband). The Mister found some beautiful German steins at super bargain prices so he was really happy. I found several vintage French serving items for a mere $10/ea - online each piece goes from $15 to almost $70 for the pitcher (also marked $10!!). They're gorgeous, in perfect shape and likely from the 50's. Super, super score! The owners are really nice and can help you find your treasure, no matter if it's a Princess Diana collectable plate (stacks of 'em), Art Deco perfume bottles or vintage clay beer steins. Carousel was a spot we've heard about for over a year, and it did not disappoint. When we got there at 9:00am the owner sweetly offered us coffee and told us about the store. You could tell regulars were already in, chatting up a storm as she was pricing. We found a great deal of gems, toys, glassware, cups. I'd recommend this place to any collector and reseller. Carousel Consignments has anything and everything at a cheap to moderate price. Trinkets and treasures galore on two floors and you can roam this place for at least an hour. Costume jewelry, dinnerware, frames, books, videos, CDs, glassware, board games, kitchenware, toys, furniture, home decor, and the list goes on. For a consignment store, this place is clean (not shopping through dust) and extremely well-organized. You can recycle those nasty plastic grocery store bags here b/c Carousel will reuse them to bag the next customer's purchases. Reducing and reusing is super cool with me. Carousel Consignments is a nice little store on Main Street. The owner places things together, like all the salt/pepper shakers are together, not spread throughout the store. This makes shopping easier, if you know what you are seeking. If you are looking for pictures or paintings, check out the downstairs, lots of interesting things down there. The store is kept clean, not dusty, or that old moldy smelling. We visit about once a month and always find something new of interest. read more

They keep the store clean and inviting, offer a friendly greeting and a cup of coffee to newcomers and regulars alike, and offer a constantly changing selection of furniture, housewares, books, collectibles, and almost anything else a person might want or need. No one has ever said hello, Is there anything in particular you are looking for?, thank you for stopping etc. I have quite a few antiques and have the money to spend if I see something I like. I didn't see anything "out of the ordinary" for an antique shop, however my lack in stars is based upon my personal preference and what I consider to be aesthetically pleasing, or a lack-there-of in this case. I walked in and was instantly overwhelmed. It was like an antique hoarder lived there. Granted it was organized hoarding, but even my husband had to go sit in the car while I shopped around because he was afraid of knocking something over... And he is 28. However, despite the clutter piled on top of clutter, I did like the fact that if you looked hard enough, you could find some really neat things (frames, tea cups, etc.) for a good price. But like I said, out of personal interest, I would rather pay the few extra bucks to walk into a clean and well displayed store to have the high quality items filtered for me rather than putting myself in a situation to dig through junk. They do have diamonds-in-the-rough at this store but make sure you have enough patience and lack of chlostraphobia (sp?) to find it. I found something I wanted but after walking around for 10 minutes I put it back just because I wanted to leave more than I wanted my well-priced item. I go to this shop whenever I have the chance. The folks running it have been in business for years and are always super friendly to me. There are two floors filled with mostly antique and older vintage items, though there is some stuff of more recent vintage. Overall, prices are less than what you would pay for the same item in most antique shops, so this is a good place for collectors to check out. Sometimes I buy a lot and other times nothing, but one of the things that keeps me coming back is that merchandise only stays in the store so long. This is a consignment store - either the stock sells within a specified amount of time, or back it goes to the consignor (or some other arrangement with the consignor, such as to a charity). This means that, while there may be some things I see on more than one visit, it won't take long for the entire stock of merchandise to turn over, so there's always new stuff to check out. I hate shops that have the same stuff when you visit them again three or five years later. This is not that kind of shop, thank goodness. The shop is crowded, but its a good use of available space and those shoppers who aren't willing to bend over to look at lower shelves, or maybe check the contents of a box, or move a few things to see what's behind them - those folks simply leave behind bargains for others who aren't as fussy.
