Mac n cheese, candied yams, cabbage, fried pork chops
    Sana C.

Food was good. My sister ordered yams, Mac n cheese, cabbage, and fried pork chops. She said everything was good only thing she wish was the yams were sweeter. I didn't take a pic of my food I had only mac n cheese and green beans. Both was good.

    Meat Loaf....OMG SO AMAZING!!!!!

LOVE AT FIRST BITE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, when you tell me about someplace being a "Soul Food" resturant I'm going to always be super picky...that's just the way it is with me. I'm a Caribbean Lady who appreciates incredible tastes. I don't have soul food often so when I do I have high expectations. This restaurants food is a winner! The flavours are rich and filling in your mouth. It's best to take a bit of each item by itself so you can taste the nuances in each...no lie. This was my first time ordering from this restaurant and I'd ordered them from off the Grubhub app. The portions were great for me and it was well packaged for takeout. Well I ordered the Meatloaf which comes with a choice of 2 sides. I chose String Beans and Macaroni and Cheese as my sides with an extra order of 3 other sides just to try. I ordered Collard Greens, Potato Salad and Candied Yams....to drink I had Pink Lemonade the only thing I was missing was Cornbread. The Meatloaf had a lovely glistening brown sauce poured over the top and it was delicious, moist and well seasoned incredibleness (I wished I could order a whole loaf to freeze and serve when I want!!!) yes it was that good. The Mac and cheese was melt in your mouth with big cheese flavour. The collard greens at first bite almost blew me out of my seat at home! I did a double dip on the second bite for sure. The potato salad was a bit soupier than I normally make at home but when I tell you I couldn't stop eating it I'm not even joking. No doubt I will be ordering more frequently from this restaurant!!!! Fast favorite of mine as of now for sure!!!! My hats off to the Chef!!! ;-)

Smothered Fried Chicken, Baked Mac n Cheese, and Yams.

Pros 1. Smothered Fried Chicken was Delicious but the Portion was of Young Chicken. Next time I will need to order a 2nd Leg Quarter.. ha ha 2. The Baked Mac n Cheese was Delicious. So far Best in Jersey City. I wish Baked Mac n Cheese was Popular Downtown Jersey City instead of Stove Top Versions.... I like Eggs in my Mac n Cheese... 3. Yams was Deliciously Sweet! 4. Pepper Steak was Delicious. Cons 1. I wish it was Downtown JC. Carolyn's Soul Food Downtown please and thank you. Or... Carolyn's SFD or Carolyn's Soul Food 2 or Carolyn's Soul Food II.

Sticky Honey Garlic Wings with yams and Carolyn's Mac and Cheese

It was good but the wings nearly had meat and the mac and cheese didn't have much flavor. Yams were delicious though I loved them. We did uber eats so maybe that affected it too.

I've tried their chicken breast meal but their meatloaf is sooo good with mac & cheese nd yams. I love this spot nd the lady at the front so helpful. I'd encourage anyone to try they just don't take card nd tax is not included in the prices in the menu board.

Delivery was made. Collard greens tasted spoiled. Potato salad was ok. Ribs were covered in bbq sauce but dry!

Hot | Taro milk tea /w Boba + Thai Milk Tea /w Boba Portions were great. The bubble tea - there are plenty of them around here, but I really liked the ones here. Very nice to see a merchant that has Korean dishes of all varieties including donuts - churros - corn dogs!!! Absolutely loved the menu. The chicken and drum sticks were soy sauce garlic marinated. Crispiness was great. Portions were fantastic. Plenty of actual meat behind the fried skin. Both were delicious particularly with accompanying hot sauce. One of the better Korean fried chickens I've gone to. The drinks were good too. If you don't want to visit two merchants (chicken + boba) the two drinks I ordered I consider single boba store level. Gong cha, etc. Loved our food and drink. Had left overs for next day and gobbled it up with wifey. Service: Lidia took my order her service was fantastic! At the end she gave me a matcha donut on the house as we were talking and she was explaining the 15 year history. Highly recommend trying this place. Super Bowl 2026?

At that point - I did not want to eat anything else. I'm was quite upset that I was not offered any type of discount considering if I swallowed it All could have been injured! I wanted to compla n and speak to the manager but they was with my daughter and grandson and didn't want to make a scene. My 11 month old grandson was eating a side of mashed potatoes and if it was found inside his dish - that would have been a disaster. I wasn't even offered an explanation of where it came from or how this could have happened. Very disappointing!

I was surprised, with how surprised I was at the taste and quality of food. Due to food prices rising and quality going down, I have managed to cook at home as much as I can. I usually go out, order food, pay all that money, and regret it because it wasn't satisfactory. I was really pleased with this restaurant. I went for brunch. The steak and eggs plate was more than enough. I'm not a bread fan, but the biscuit with the homemade strawberry jam was actually to die for! The biscuit was fresh, moist and soft. The jam was not too sweet and paired together they were extremely satisfying! I could've eaten the biscuit with just the eggs and still recommended this place. I did think the steak was not the best, but the chimichurri sauce on top *kinda* helps you get over it. If you're a big fan of steak, know what well cooked steak is and that's your favorite food and you need it done perfectly, you also will not like it. To add to this point precisely, generally, steak and eggs plate are on the pricy side. With how good everything else was on the plate, how much food is provided and the lower cost of this steak and eggs plate makes it well worth it! Idc, if you feel like you make the best pancakes out there, the softness of these pumpkin pancakes are simply unbeatable! I absolutely love pancakes, and these may be the best ones I have ever had. They melt in your mouth and there's not much I can say other than please try the pancakes! They offer blueberry pancakes as well, but I did not have those and can't speak on that! With the trio appetizer, I think the pita was very good. Perfect crunch, perfect softness, slightly some flavor. The dips were okay. I was expecting more flavor, but that's the fun part of being able to try a variety, some you are gonna like more than others. I think we were given more than enough pieces of pita and that was nice since we can all agree sometimes the dip to chip/bread ratio does not really match at most places. The middle salad was fresh. There was some olives (which I generally do not like) but they were not as salty as olives generally are, and it was a good appetizer of choice to get some freshness, some slight protein (from certain dips being made out of beans) and it was a great introduction to our main meals. This if my first time going to this restaurant, hopefully other things on the menu will also meet my standards of good, but for the first experience and the selection of what I chose on the menu, in the least, I say try the steak and egg plate and DEF the pumpkin pancakes (ESPECIALLY if your a fan of pumpkin like myself). I'm not someone that cares for ambiance much, but it was nice in there. Typical amount of people in there for brunch, but did not feel overcrowded or loud although the space (that I was sitting in) felt slightly small. The service was nice, but I did feel it was a bit overbearing. I don't like to be asked how I'm doing every 10 mins, but maybe some people do. Also, waited for a while trying to get the check from our waiter. Saying this for the people who care about these things, me not so much.

I'm sure that to some extent, voters are to blame for this move. Yelp ethics side note: I'm an enthusiastic or even militant supporter of bones in chicken but it seems unfair to go 1-star because of the menu change. There's nothing I want at Lululemon but I don't rate it 1-star. The biscuits are enjoyable. I got fried chicken and buffalo chicken versions. The kale-and-quinoa salad was good by salad standards but not as much as fun as the enticing collard greens/black-eyed peas/tomato side that was once available. Might try some dipping sauces next time. It would be great if some of the old classics return but I still appreciate the friendly workers and the creation of a low-stress neighborhood joint with board games and outdoor tables.

I parked a block away (yay for free street parking) and was already salivating by the delicious smell of their fried chicken. They were super busy and told us it would take 20-30 minutes but it ended up only taking 15 mins! People rave about their Chicken Caesar Wrap and honestly yes, it's good. It could use more caesar dressing and less croutons but other than that, really solid and the fried chicken in it goes so well with the caesar salad. To be honest, I was most super excited about the Three Piece Chicken w Biscuit! I heard there was an outrage when the NYC locations took it off the menu so I knew I had to give them a try. The batter - seasoned, light, and satisfying. The chicken - juicy, flavorful, and moist. Each bite was even more elevated with their sauces which I absolutely recommend! The Truffle Aioli was my personal favorite; it was creamy, velvety, and earthy. The Bobwhite Sauce was not what I expected whatsoever; it's fruity and sweet with a slight kick. Although I didn't like it on the chicken, it went crazy on the buttermilk biscuit which is the most pillowy, fluffy, and light biscuit I've had with fried chicken. Their Hand Cut Fries are twice fried in 100% beef tallow making them insanely addictive. Compared to other fast casual spots I've tried (i.e., Charles Pan-Fried Chicken), Bobwhite definitely hit the spot more. Highly recommend!
