Mac n cheese, candied yams, cabbage, fried pork chops
    Sana C.

Food was good. My sister ordered yams, Mac n cheese, cabbage, and fried pork chops. She said everything was good only thing she wish was the yams were sweeter. I didn't take a pic of my food I had only mac n cheese and green beans. Both was good.

    Meat Loaf....OMG SO AMAZING!!!!!

LOVE AT FIRST BITE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, when you tell me about someplace being a "Soul Food" resturant I'm going to always be super picky...that's just the way it is with me. I'm a Caribbean Lady who appreciates incredible tastes. I don't have soul food often so when I do I have high expectations. This restaurants food is a winner! The flavours are rich and filling in your mouth. It's best to take a bit of each item by itself so you can taste the nuances in each...no lie. This was my first time ordering from this restaurant and I'd ordered them from off the Grubhub app. The portions were great for me and it was well packaged for takeout. Well I ordered the Meatloaf which comes with a choice of 2 sides. I chose String Beans and Macaroni and Cheese as my sides with an extra order of 3 other sides just to try. I ordered Collard Greens, Potato Salad and Candied Yams....to drink I had Pink Lemonade the only thing I was missing was Cornbread. The Meatloaf had a lovely glistening brown sauce poured over the top and it was delicious, moist and well seasoned incredibleness (I wished I could order a whole loaf to freeze and serve when I want!!!) yes it was that good. The Mac and cheese was melt in your mouth with big cheese flavour. The collard greens at first bite almost blew me out of my seat at home! I did a double dip on the second bite for sure. The potato salad was a bit soupier than I normally make at home but when I tell you I couldn't stop eating it I'm not even joking. No doubt I will be ordering more frequently from this restaurant!!!! Fast favorite of mine as of now for sure!!!! My hats off to the Chef!!! ;-)

Pros 1. Smothered Fried Chicken was Delicious but the Portion was of Young Chicken. Next time I will need to order a 2nd Leg Quarter.. ha ha 2. The Baked Mac n Cheese was Delicious. So far Best in Jersey City. I wish Baked Mac n Cheese was Popular Downtown Jersey City instead of Stove Top Versions.... I like Eggs in my Mac n Cheese... 3. Yams was Deliciously Sweet! 4. Pepper Steak was Delicious. Cons 1. I wish it was Downtown JC. Carolyn's Soul Food Downtown please and thank you. Or... Carolyn's SFD or Carolyn's Soul Food 2 or Carolyn's Soul Food II.

Sticky Honey Garlic Wings with yams and Carolyn's Mac and Cheese

It was good but the wings nearly had meat and the mac and cheese didn't have much flavor. Yams were delicious though I loved them. We did uber eats so maybe that affected it too.

I've tried their chicken breast meal but their meatloaf is sooo good with mac & cheese nd yams. I love this spot nd the lady at the front so helpful. I'd encourage anyone to try they just don't take card nd tax is not included in the prices in the menu board.

Honestly the dining area was quite empty and I guess I could partially attribute it to snow, but it wasn't snowing when we got there. Maybe it was due to the long weekend, not sure. The place is huge though, tons of space so it felt weird being a bit empty, especially with a playoff game on. There was a private event though so perhaps that did make a difference. Anyhow, since we traveled around the south last summer, we wanted to get a little flavor of southern food this evening. We got our customary picked veggies to start off (good!) but then decided to order Hot Honey Glazed Carrots for an appetizer. The carrots were a bit off. It was somewhat difficult to eat. The carrots weren't fully steamed, with some pieces way tougher to eat than others. The yogurt was fine, but you don't really taste any honey and it was a bit too gooey to the point where it was hard to dip it properly. I wonder if the dip should've been separate from the carrots itself. I'm not sure. As for me, I got the Country Fried Oyster Mushroom Po'Boy. It was fine, but felt it was a little too dry... and honestly a little too simple. The fries were great, but felt like I was missing something. The cocktails, on the other hand, were great and saved the day. Maybe I'll enjoy this place a bit more during brunch, but was a bit disappointed with the dinner experience.

Hear me out. The $8 Holla was a 10/10, no notes. The Mac & Cheese is some of the best I've had and I like that you get a sample of the fried chicken wings and fried shrimp. Despite it being not super fresh (we had it delivered), they were full of flavor and so satisfying. Now I've never had a Jerk Chicken Breast Dinner like this where you get chunks of chicken breast cut up like this. On their own, they were smoky & seasoned but pretty dry. What saved it was the oxtail gravy we added for $2. The grandma's rice & beans were also pretty dry unlike other pics/videos I've seen. The blueberry cornbread was solid! It's sweet, light, and not too grainy. I wouldn't call it a cornbread personally, more like a blueberry pound cake. I didn't get any of that distinctive cornmeal flavor. All in all, there might be other items worth trying than what we got. I had higher expectations and would want to come back for a redemption meal.

I parked a block away (yay for free street parking) and was already salivating by the delicious smell of their fried chicken. They were super busy and told us it would take 20-30 minutes but it ended up only taking 15 mins! People rave about their Chicken Caesar Wrap and honestly yes, it's good. It could use more caesar dressing and less croutons but other than that, really solid and the fried chicken in it goes so well with the caesar salad. To be honest, I was most super excited about the Three Piece Chicken w Biscuit! I heard there was an outrage when the NYC locations took it off the menu so I knew I had to give them a try. The batter - seasoned, light, and satisfying. The chicken - juicy, flavorful, and moist. Each bite was even more elevated with their sauces which I absolutely recommend! The Truffle Aioli was my personal favorite; it was creamy, velvety, and earthy. The Bobwhite Sauce was not what I expected whatsoever; it's fruity and sweet with a slight kick. Although I didn't like it on the chicken, it went crazy on the buttermilk biscuit which is the most pillowy, fluffy, and light biscuit I've had with fried chicken. Their Hand Cut Fries are twice fried in 100% beef tallow making them insanely addictive. Compared to other fast casual spots I've tried (i.e., Charles Pan-Fried Chicken), Bobwhite definitely hit the spot more. Highly recommend!

We are from New York City. As soon as we came in, it was pretty lit. DJ was already there bar was full so we sat at a table you come in and you can seat yourself. Took a minute for a server to come to us. I'm assuming that the bartenders are the servers so we got a menu from the bar and eventually somebody came over to take our order. Her name is Niki. I started with a sangria and my best friend got a jumbo margarita for $15 mind you we only had an hour for happy hour so we definitely will be back because we didn't have enough time to try all the different drinks on the happy hour menu. We also got two shots of Don Julio reposado for $11 which was unhappy hours as well really good really strong drinks were on the sweeter side which I personally like and then we ordered food. I got the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls 10 out of 10 and then my best friend got two beef empanadas for $10 after that I got a seven piece jerk chicken wing dry basket for $15 we split our bills so my bill came out to $86 and then I think I tipped like $20 and then my friend's bill came out to $76 so it's definitely on the more expensive side but we missed happy hour so that definitely does make a difference I also got the Hennessey sidecar drink which was $18. They have hookah by the way we were sitting next to these ladies that were so nice. They were like letting us eat their food. It was actually wild. They gave us a really good idea if we would want to order something for the future we got to try the catfish bites also 10 out of 10 recommend this place is a vibe and they have a ton of specials daily. We will be back. They also do breakfast in the morning so I'm excited to like see what the brunch looking like.
