A place to find rest and start to make sense of all those thoughts and emotions that bombard you on a daily basis. Many people wait until their life is unmanageable before reaching out for help. Frequently, couples wind up in a counselor's office as a last resort before contacting an attorney or filing divorce papers. Wouldn't it be nice to get help now, before things get that bad? Don't believe those thoughts you keep telling yourself, that it can't get better and there is no hope. We specialize in sexual addictions, both men and women, and the effects the addiction has had on your spouse and family. Sexual addictions often come with a history of sexual abuse, so we help with that, too. We offer a safe place to share your struggles and experiences. We can also help with depression, anxiety, bipolar, OCD, marital discord and marital enrichment. We counsel individuals as well as couples dealing with a wide variety of relationship issues, including premarital counseling. We offer sessions in person and remotely via a secure, confidential online portal.

I am not a patient of Dr. Zimmer, but I contacted him about finding a therapist that offers sliding…read morescale rates. His rates are extremely reasonable, but my limits were pretty narrow. Instead of just turning me down, as a few therapists did (albeit kindly), he researched low-cost therapists for me and emailed them to me after our phone call. If he cares this much about someone he's never met, and who he knows has no hope of becoming a patient in the near future, I can only imagine how nurturing and helpful he'd be to an actual patient. I'd give him a call. Oh, and as of this review, he offers free initial consultations!

For some people, the initial decision to see a therapist is a tentative one. It is not uncommon for people to wait months after getting a therapist's contact information to make the call, or to cancel as the appointment date nears. For those with prior therapy experience, the "right choice" of a therapist can also be tentative if past treatment attempts have been disappointing. Because I understand that a comfortable collaboration between a therapist and patient is primary to a successful outcome, and, that finding the therapist that "fits" for you is important, I offer a free initial consultation. In this way you can get a feel for my interpersonal style, and ask the questions that are important to you. Our initial meeting will be a conversation about your reasons for seeking treatment and the sources of stress in your life. I will ask some questions to help you get started, and/or to bring some of your concerns into focus. Proceeding at a pace that feels comfortable and safe for you, we will attempt to understand together how things came to be the way there are, and develop a pathway to emotional freedom. Respect for privacy will be fundamental to our work together.
