I live in Metairie and Dr. Mohnot is located on the Westbank, but I decided to give him a try because of the strong recommendation I received. I am so glad I did! I have no problem driving across town for a doctor as wonderful as Dr. Mohnot and his team. He has been very thorough when working with my migraines. He did bloodwork, an EEG, and has me keep a headache log. We tried a few different medicines until we found the perfect combo. Unlike other doctors I have had, once we found that combo, he still has me come in every 3-4 months and keep a headache log so that we can keep on top of how I am doing and so any changes do not get out of hand. He is very thorough, polite, friendly and takes time with his patients. Because he takes time with each patient, the office tells you to call in 30 minutes before your appointment so they can let you know if he is running behind and that way you know if you should adjust your schedule and you don't feel you are wasting your day in the waiting room. I love this! Everyone in the office is friendly and helpful. It is all top notch. I highly recommend them!

Surgery went great, and I was discharged from the hospital in two days as planned. I am now free of the radiating right hip and lower leg pain that plagued me prior to surgery. Dr. Smith would personally call my home on a regular basis to check on my progress. The RN's that took care of me while I was hospitalized would often praise Dr. Smith's outstanding day and night dedication. I was told the story of how he came to the hospital at 10:30 just to get patient up to walk. I have full confidence in Dr. Smith and trust my care to his 30 years of experience, expertise and quality patient care. Prior to my surgery, I read his excellent patient ratings of completed lumbar fusion and related surgeries, and they served to solidly validate my total trust and confidence in him. I highly recommend Dr. Smith as an outstanding quality neurosurgeon. From personal experience, I have learned that Dr. Smith goes beyond the call of duty in care, dedication and acts of kindness. When visiting his office, he always takes the time to answer all of my questions. Dr. Smith puts you at ease and is easy to talk to. I find that he is an active listener. He mirrors what you tell him to let you know that he understands the problem you are communicating to him. During office appointments, he uses a life-like model of a spine and MRI scans on a very large monitor to identify the problem and answer questions. Before we decided on surgery to resolve my diagnosis, we tried all other available options. Surgery was a last resort. I knew that I was in great hands and I feel that my diagnosis has been remedied. Dr. Smith is a rare gem in the medical profession. I have experienced him to be the noblest physician that I have ever met. He is caring, demonstrates Christian virtues and is a Benefactor of kindness and good deeds.
