So we're driving around Ventura trying to decide where to eat. Our choices can be limited with an energetic toddler in tow. We saw this place that looked like a train an decided to give it a try. Our little boy was so excited to have dinner on a train! And I have to say, the food was pretty good. The staff was super friendly too, they even gave our boy a small helping of fries while my wife and I were ordering ... It's the little things. Can't wait to go back. read more

Okay okay... so I've driven by this train-shaped burger restaurants countless of times! and FINALLY stopped by to have a simple burger! YES! I ordered a cheeseburger with EVERYTHING! ...including chili and grilled onions :) a side of small french fries and small lemonade. I enjoyed the cheeseburger. It was decent. I used a few fries to scoop the chili off the side of my burger. I noticed that the ketchup was very sweet, interesting! But I think the one meat patty kind of got lost in the burger. Maybe a double will do it. Plenty of parking. read more

I love Carney's! In the interest of my health, I don't come here too often, but when I do, I enjoy every bite. First of all, the service is excellent. The workers are super nice and are really quick about getting your food to you. Secondly, parking is a breeze. Love that! As for the food, here are my faves: Fries - thin and crispy, just the way I like 'em. Chili cheese fries - uh-maze-ing! New Yorker - hot dog with mustard and kraut. Absolutely my favorite item here. Steamed and softened bread, the wonderful 'snap' of the dog...drool worthy. Milkshakes - brings the boys to the yard...nice and thick and filling. Tuna salad - for those days I feel guilty about being at Carney's. Generous portion of tuna with huge chunks of cucumbers, tomatoes, and shreds of carrots. With the balsamic vinaigrette, it is very yummy! Turkey burger - nice and juicy, not dry like most other places. Make sure you let the cashier know you want it even if you're waiting in line since it takes a little bit longer to cook. read more

This location, while not quite as cool as the one on sunset blvd, is still pretty legit. Carneys Studio City has the same concept as the Hollywood one: Order at the window, and wait for your food to be ready. Service is usually very quick, and the chef/servers are usually friendly and helpful. This place has a handful of inside tables, with a few options to choose from usually open. The prices here cannot be beat, and the quality/quantity is good enough. I always leave this place full and satisfied, and for only about $5-6. The atmosphere is what really makes this place great. I love the "in a train" feel to it. 5 stars for uniqueness and ambiance. I highly recommend this place to all that haven't tried it yet. The burgers are tasty, and are good bang for the buck. I will be back. read more

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. The old man with white hair (owner most likely) and the old Latina woman are the RUDEST people I have ever seen. They gave the worst attitude. They throw your utensils on the counter at you, won't even look at you, and gave my boyfriend and I medium drinks when we ordered larger ONLY because they didn't stock the large cups yet. While we were eating, they decided to stock the large cups up front. I asked for napkins from the woman 3 times and only the last time did she acknowledge me and didn't say a word only pointed in the direction they were at. The food here is mediocre. You're better off going somewhere else, don't waste your money. read more

Service: 2/5 I would have given the service a four given how clean the place was and at first the guy taking our order was very helpful. However, I can't stand when people tell me they think what I order isn't good and I should get something else (chili dog with slaw on top). Food: 4/5 My chili dog with slaw was awesome. It covered the rather nasty looking chili that looked exactly like dog food but it did taste good. The slaw however was excellent and tied everything together. Great, greasy food for a great price. The atmosphere is great, because the restaurant is in a converted train. It's kind of cramped, so if there are a lot of people it gets pretty noisy. The food is good old comfort food: hotdogs, burgers, fries, sausages and all that. I love the chili slaw dogs, but they're so filling, eating 2 is a challenge. The slaw is worth noting as well; it has chunks of pineapple, which usually I'm not a fan of, but just brings some sweetness to the slaw. The chili is unbelievable and you should order it on basically anything you get. I also see a box of tomatoes that are of high quality, which just proves the quality of food here is high, if they care that much about their tomatoes. I recommend eating outside on their patio because it's nice to see Ventura and it's not as noisy/crowded as it is inside. Parking is easy and free in their lot, or on Ventura if there's no space. Haven't been here in years. Chili Dog and Train Wreck Fries, plus lemonade. The actual hot dog was terrible, but really good chili. The train wreck fries were like In & Out Animal Fries, but not as good. $13. Next time I'll skip the fries and get a second dog (polish). read more

I love this place! The people who work here are so nice every single time. The food is bomb! Order the chili fries and thank me later! And the milkshakes, holy! Best milkshake ever - so thick and creamy! The hotdogs are great, and the setting is fun. I mean, hello! It's inside of a train! They have outdoor seating too which is nice. What's even nicer? Went and ordered and picked up ourselves waited while they made the food. I cannot believe how delicious it was! My sister ordered the Thai wrap I got the Oriental Express wrap. We had a side order of regular pineapple coleslaw. The most delicious wrap I have eaten in forever. my sister said hers was so much she couldn't eat all of it but it wasn't because it wasn't delicious it was just so big. The service was wonderful the check-in person was Quick and efficient and personable. The food preparers were excellent they did not rush they took their time and made sure it was all done with the best care. The cost was very affordable I will go there again and again and again. Every time we come here the food is fresh and made to order. I love getting their Carney's style Red Eye and their fries. I usually get the red eye grilled, but last time I got it steamed. It was juicier and I liked it even more. I usually tell them to hold the tomato, but I got it last time and wow I really liked it with the tomato. Nobody else does that (Carneys is the only place I've been w/ tomato added). Their chilli is thicker and better than Cupid's.. sorry Cupids. Can't get these Red Eyes or these bomb french fries or sweet potato fries at Cupids either. We always leave full and happy with the meal. My friend usually gets a beef soft taco. I think there's something for everyone here. The establishment is great with napkins on the wall and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. They even have these pretty lights outside that give it some extra sparkle. Highly recommend. read more

This place always hits the spot! My husband and I love dining in but this time around I came to pick up some food to-go, to satisfy the craving for their delicious chili dogs. The place was spotless per usual. The staff always very friendly and cheerful, I always appreciate that. Their food was perfect even though it was eaten 10 mins after it was ready.. good to know it travels well! Carneys, how do i love thee? Let me count the ways. I love your Spicy Red Eye with Chili. I love a good old regular Carneys Dog, Chili only. I love a Yellow Dog. I love a Chili Cheeseburger. And damnit, I even love your shoestring fries when I usually prefer steak cut fries. I have been eating at Carneys on Sunset since 1984 and the one in Studio City since 1997. Thankfully, my visits are spaced out so I don't resemble one large Chili Dog!!! Granted I have a six-pack of Rolaids that I need to pop before one of these little beauties but don't hold my tempermental stomach against me. Some people prefer Pinks, some Vicious Dogs, others like to go to Skoobys. My #1 choice will always be Carneys. The people who work there ROCK, the crazy "Jay and Silent Bob" look-a-like security guard who carries a boombox and the fact that you are eating inside a freaken train car will always have my loyalty. read more

Went here based on a recommendation from Thrillist - didn't want to hit the over hyped Pink's. Overall good. It's a metal train car, so it's not well insulated. Was cold during our December visit, hope the AC works good in the summer! Good dogs, fries, and drinks. Carney's provides what it promises. I'd stop by again if I was in the neighborhood. read more

As someone who doesn't eat meat, I was excited to finally be able to try Carney's, now that they have the vegan, Hungry Planet burger. I'm not a fan of veggie burgers so it's cool that Carney's has this new burger. It "matches the authentic taste and texture of traditional beef but doesn't contain any animal ingredients, gluten or GMO" I'm always worried about places cooking the meat and the veggie stuff on the same grill/place but Carney's has a completely separate place to cook the veggie items. Ultimately it's a fast food place so there isn't much to say. But, the burger is good, the cheese fries are good and it's cool that you sit in a train. read more

The hot dogs are incredible! And I am a hot dog snob!! I know dogs from Chicago, New York, New Orleans and Carney's dogs are really the best. Better than Pink's....for real!! I had a chili, sauerkraut dog with onions and mustard. The skin makes a snapping sound when you bite into the dog the sauerkraut is grilled, the buns are buttery and the food comes out HOT. They also have healthy sides, so the whole family will find good warts for sure!! Eat at Carney's ! You'll be glad you did!!!!!! read more

My little boy loves the train car and the perfect French fries! Burger was great too. Service is fast. I honestly didn't appreciate how cool this diner is until I had a kiddo to marvel at the train car and I must admit it is very very cool. I ordered the burger with the works and BBQ sauce. It was fantastic. It's not a huge portion either so you don't feel guilty eating the whole thing. Restroom was clean. I even got a chocolate chunk cookie and it was divine. read more

Decided to give Carney's a try since I herd soo much hype about this fast food joint. Honestly, I could've had a better hot dog and fries at Tommy's or Cupid's. The cashier lady was rude and didn't answer my question properly. Overall quite disappointed at this carney's location. Oh and to top it off the hotdog was Soggy sooo gross. I love the idea. Really neat looking place that anyone would probably think is cool, whether you're a young child or adult. Why 3 stars? They claim their 1/2 lb burger is "the best burger you'll ever have". That's a pretty bold statement! It was OK, but nothing extraordinary. In fact I was a little disappointed with the fact that the meat tasted like it wasn't even seasoned. Also, it was about $15.00 for a half pound burger with bacon, small chili cheese fries, and medium drink. And they charge you for refills (my biggest pet peeve). Overall, I felt like the price was for the unique environment more than unique food. Don't think I'll be back anytime soon. read more

Carney's is a hidden gem in Studio City! If you love all things chili, then you must stop in here. First off, it's inside of a train cart which is pretty cool on its own. Second, their chili hotdogs and the Chicagoan are soo good. Only a few simple ingredients, yet they definitely do it right. I'd suggest topping it all off with their mocha shake. Such a great combination for the perfect comfort food meal. Right off of Ventura Blvd, they have their own parking lot to make it an easy to access fast food joint...which is not common on Ventura Blvd. This place has been around for years and for good reason. read more

The onions and cilantro softened how savory it was, and the toasted pita was the perfect vessel. - The OG Wagyu Beef Shawarma - Half: 4.5/5 They are generous with the meat, which has so much flavor. It was tender with the fat fully rendered. The pita bread was pillowy soft amd fresh, but still had structure to hold everything together. - Fried Cauliflower: 4/5 The spice blend fits the cauliflower profile and the texture was great. The staff was hustling, non-stop, but still took the time to engage when I was ordering, answering questions and providing suggestions. It made the overall meal better and was appreciated. The location was noticeably clean, from the table tops to the floors. It made it inviting when we walked in. It is a bit of a drive, but I will find a reason to return...soon.

That came with their vinaigrette dressing but a side of ranch was also asked for. The Brie and turkey sandwich with a side of the macaroni salad. Sandwiches were quite tasty with the toasted bread and how everything melted together. The burger which was pretty big in size. Tasty from what I was informed and served with a side of fries. Lastly, the avocado toast with tomatoes. Simple and cheerful. Plus you need an extra side order of streak fries with ranch. Both ketchup and their avocado dip was brought out as well. Food was good, the service was great. Both with the gal at the register and the waitress bringing out the food. It's pet friendly which is also nice to have the little pup with us. Forgot, they also have a nice display case of sweets on hand. And cookies that were massive. Clearly one was had before the meal. Sweets beforehand is always a good idea. Great service, nice drink, live music and a lovely crowd. What a nice way to enjoy lunch on a Tuesday afternoon.

They have lots of outdoor seating in the patio, it's mostly shaded and seems like a great spot to come and do work. They also have a big indoor space as well. You order inside and they bring your food out to you. I got the Chinese chicken salad. It came out pretty quickly and had a nice presentation. It was good overall but also not the best I've had in town.
