For that reason alone, Fondation Vincent Van Gogh is a striking place. But what is even more striking is to find that, when I went in the winter, the collection had gone on holiday. On my visit, only on VVG piece was left at the foundation. In fact, there was more to view in the gift shop than in the museum. That said, it wasn't a complete bust. The walk from where I had parked through the winding alleys was charming and the foundation itself has beautiful facilities. Nevertheless, probably best to not plan a trip there in the winter.

While this museum only houses five Van Gogh paintings, we thoroughly enjoyed all of its exhibits. The Fondation is a new, modern building (with modern amenities) situated amid the picturesque streets of Arles. There's a nice courtyard and spacious galleries. When we visited, there was an exhibit on a Georgian artist--Niko Pirosmani--and it was fascinating to see the art of near contemporary of Van Gogh's (with a parallel life story) in the same space. There were a few other artists as well, but we liked the Pirosmani stuff best. Bottom line: if you want to see a bunch of Van Gogh paintings, go to Amsterdam. If you're interested in art in general, and want to celebrate its many iterations, then this museum is worth a visit.

Incredibly RUDE Cashier Staff. We go to the only open checkout line. The other line was staffed…read morebut "not available". We are second in line, behind a woman who was putting her items on the belt and chatting away with the cashier. The cashier IGNORED us entirely. No "Bonjour"! As is very customary in France. We are buying One Sandwich. So then the customer in front of us stopped putting items on the belt. The belt is covered in items and the Cashier does nothing about it! She just keeps chatting with the customer - it is clearly social - and no issues with any items. 3 Full Minutes Pass. No items are being rung up. The cashier keeps having a conversation with the lady in front of us - and ignoring us entirely. Remember - there is no self-checkout and no other line to use. So, we finally just give up. We leave our one item on the belt and start to walk out. Suddenly, the Cashier starts barking at us in a nasty tone "where do we think we are going"?! And that we can't leave until she checks my wife's purse and my backpack. LOL That's not happening. You don't get to treat us this way then think you can impose your will on us - which is against French law. This was our first visit to Monoprix - and our LAST! MONOPRIX - We are DONE WITH YOU - FOREVER.

HORRIBLE customer service. Darling boutique, great clothing and reasonable prices but the rude and…read moredismissive customer service negates all the positive aspects of this store. We were ignored, dismissed and despite our best efforts to purchase a pair of shoes, received absolutely no help from the rude, blonde, young salesgirl who seemed to take great pleasure in ignoring us and helping only her French customers (of which there were very few). We understood all the derisive comments she made in French behind our back and when we walked out after waiting patiently for at least 15 minutes to try on a pair of shoes, she finally acknowledged us and told us we should put the box of shoes back where they were, rather than on the shoe display near the front of the store. We have NEVER experienced such rudeness in all our travels throughout France. Fortunately, I was able to find the shoes in another of your stores in the Left Bank in Paris, where the salesgirl provided outstanding customer service by locating the shoes in another store so I could buy them. In addition, she was so helpful that I purchased a beautiful open cardigan from her.
