So, as entertrainment spot (for drinks and music), this is definetly a 4 star expereince. As a food spot, it's "ok", so I would give it a 3. Food is not very flavourful, but it is not bad either. I guess that if you are drinking and having a good time, you just want to get food in your stomach and not too pickey on food. Food is also a bit expensive and takes forever. However, again, this si a very good spot as a hangout. Music is on point, spacious area if you want to dance and drinks are resonably priced. If I ever go again, I'll make sure to have diner at home so iof I order food, it is more as the night goes by, as a snack. Lol read more

We have driven past this place several times we have visited this side of the island. Finally decide to give them a try and it was ok. We ordered an appetizer sample and it was ok. The sample contained mofongo balls (average), carne frita (once done), chicken chicharrones ( more like chicken tenders) and wings. Even though it was mostly locals here, I think this restaurant is great for tourists. The vibe is so much fun and the food was excellent. I loved the mofongo. My husband's mamposteao dish was also delicious. They are known for their mojitos. I had the passion fruit mojito. Tasty. I would definitely return. read more

We came here with most of our son's Cub Scout den after a meeting. They were able to accommodate our last minute reservation which was great for such a large group. The restaurant has a large parking and outdoor area. They have a giant chair for taking pics. The inside is spacious as well with a bar, photo lounge, and a stage for live music. The place is called Carnaval and true to the name they have carnaval masks for customers to put on and take pics. This is a picture friendly joint. We were seated in a room separate from the main area. I guess they didn't want all those kids annoying the rest of the customers, lol. Service was decent. And slow. Judging from previous reviews, it seems this is a running issue. One member in our group helped speed things up by aiding the waitress in taking the food and drink orders and getting the first round of drinks at the bar. Food also took time to arrive. All that aside, the food was good. Portions were generous. I went with the arrocera de Doña Tula, which is a mamposteao rice bowl with churrasco and longaniza de pollo and comes with tostones. The rice was tasty. Meat was hard to find. However, another person in our group ordered it and they got more meat, so let's say it was inconsistent. Tostones were excellent. Even though I liked it, i wouldn't recommend it as a main dish, too much rice. I'd rather get it to share with the table as a side and then go with another main dish. My wife's mofongo was also tasty. Overall, we had a good time. Vibe was fun; food was good; service was slow. If Yelp had half stars, I'd go with 3.5. Since they don't I have to go with 3 stars even though I liked the food and the vibe. The slow service is a problem many have experienced before and hasn't improved. Would I come back? Sure, but before that I'd like to try some other places in the Santa Isabel/Coamo area. read more

Restaurant, Coamo, Puerto Rico. I have read some awful reviews, but El Carnaval has apparently cleaned up their act. We were promptly seated and Jhan, our waiter, was very amiable and professional; he made us feel as if we were his only customers. The food was outstanding! Arroz Mampostea'o de Doña Tula (stewed rice and beans with skirt steak and chicken), Pechuga Rellena de Churrasco (chicken breast stuffed with skirt steak), and Pechuga Rellena de Plátano (chicken breast stuffed with plantain), all superb. Generous portions, reasonable prices, very good food, and quick, efficient service while in a lively, inviting atmosphere with varied music. Clean and spacious. Locals have obviously given El Carnaval a thumbs up; by the time we left, the line was out the door. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

We ate inside and noticed no mice on our visit! Delicious plates of pollo stuffed with carne, as well as rice and bean, and plantain sides. A great way to satiate our midday hunger. We stopped by on Jan 1 and waited over an hour to be seated. While we waited, went to the bar to get a drink and the bartender didn't know how to make a long island iced tea. He had to go to the back to get the recipe and the drink was not good. The bathroom was clogged and dirty. Service was terrible, waitress was not attentive at all. She would disappear for looooong periods of time. Waited over 2 hours to get our food and it was cold when it was brought to the table. It was one of the worst experiences I've had at a restaurant. Disappointed...be careful with the happy hours we where told Mojito drinks were two for one and were charged regular price after speaking to the manager they refused to correct the price. Unfortunately when my husbands meal arrived sitting on top of his meal was HAIR. We told the waitress but there was no apology. He decided to change his meal. We definitely will not go back.
