This is going to be long, but it's important. Everyone needs to understand the danger of purchasing a vehicle from CarMax Greenville. I purchased my car from them on September 11th for a total of $18,762, which included a $17,762 lien check from my credit union and a $1,000 down payment out of pocket. The very next day, September 12th, I took it through a car wash and discovered a massive leak pouring through the panoramic sunroof. What's unbelievable is that CarMax told me they had just washed the car before I drove it off the lot. Somehow they didn't notice the water flooding through the roof then. When I called to report it, I was told the service department doesn't operate on weekends and that the soonest I could bring it back was Monday, September 15th. So I did. That was the last time I saw my car. CarMax cashed my check immediately, but my vehicle has now been sitting in their back lot for 35 days while I continue to make monthly payments for a car I can't drive. From day one, this has been an exhausting cycle of excuses and delays. Their well-advertised "125-point inspection" somehow missed a failed sunroof and severe water damage that required a full replacement. I was told the repair would be quick, yet every update since has been the same story. They are waiting on "one more part," always conveniently backordered with at least a week's shipping delay. For a while, I received daily emails from their Service Consultant, Kyle. They were never real updates, just quick notes to remind me that nothing had changed. Eventually even those stopped. It wasn't until I threatened to file complaints with the South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs and the Better Business Bureau that anyone from management or corporate bothered to reach out. And now that I have, communication has completely stopped again. It feels like they've decided to ignore me while my car sits forgotten behind the building. What makes this worse is that I chose CarMax because I believed their reputation meant something. I paid more than I intended because I trusted that I was buying reliability and peace of mind. Instead, I'm paying for a car I've driven twice and haven't had in over a month. They took my money and pushed my car aside like it was no longer their problem. There is no urgency, no accountability, and no integrity. CarMax Greenville is not the transparent, customer-focused company they claim to be. Behind the friendly salespeople and polished marketing, they operate no differently than the sketchy used car lots they claim to be better than. CarMax Greenville sold me a defective car, ignored their own inspection promises, failed to repair it in a reasonable timeframe, and treated me like an inconvenience the moment the sale was final. If you value your time, your money, and your sanity, do not buy from them. They are not a trustworthy company. They are the problem. Today is October 20th, and my car is still sitting at CarMax Greenville's service lot where I left it over a month ago. I'll update this review if and when they ever release my vehicle back to me, but based on how things have gone so far, I doubt that day will ever come.

Their cars are mainly sent to sales by other dealerships that don't want them. There is a good chance you are buying someone else's problem.

I had my license plate shipped to me. I asked them to put them on. I've never had a problem with the dealership putting them on. They were happy to put on the rear plate, but since my front plates , there is no screws in there they would've had to charge me. To drill the holes. That's beyond me. Sorry I think if you buy a new Mercedes and you're at a Mercedes dealership, they should be willing to take care of that without a charge so I got my back plates on. No front plate cause I didn't wanna pay an hourly charge to have someone do that. Again, I didn't buy the car there, but they still should be willing to put on my front plates. Even if it includes drilling some holes.

No fast forward to moving to South Carolina and that couldn't be further from the truth. Need a service A completed, cool all the Dealership, quote me $529. Little high for a service A but ok no big deal. I tell them I replaced my batter not at a Mercedes dealership and need it registered, they say they can't touch it because it's not a Mercedes Benz battery. Never heard that before so already not starting off well. Then I tell them I replaced it because of a couple errors I was getting and need those cleared just to see if the battery did fix the issue, again they say that can't do that. Keep in mind they are going to be on that page already as they have to CLEAR my service A indicator. Awful service, awful customer service. If I could give no stars I would. Would not recommend the service department at all.

(yes I know it's an '06 my prior car was on '06 and had 0 issues) I had it inspected and showed them the work that was quoted to me, they went down 1,000 on the asking price. I have now spent almost $3,000 on repairs on this hunk of junk they sold me. They claim they will do repairs for half the price, when I needed the new tires and alignment (one of the repairs I told them needed to be done at purchasing) they quoted me the same price as another place but I would have had to leave my car with the for most of the day, where I was able to just sit and wait approx 1 hour at the other place. So they clearly lie about their cheaper repairs. With in less than a month of purchasing the vehicle I returned in literal tears of frustration and was completely blown off by the woman who works there as well as the mechanic. NOTHING was done to help when I gave them the fair chance to do something about this. (I also called when the owner left a reply on my google review giving me a number to " contact him directly" it was the stores generic number and he " wasn't there".) I fully believe they knew what they were doing mainly bc I told them about specific problems I noticed and my mechanic notice and they denied the problems. If you leave a bad review they will be snarky in their reply and act like they did nothing wrong instead of owning up to the "mistake" and try to fix them. I put mistakes in quotes bc we are all human, things happen. But this was clearly intentional on their part at this point. I will never purchase another vehicle from them! BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!
