There was a cocktail hour (open bar) from 4-530pm in one area of the venue and then dinner, dessert, and dancing in the ballroom area. A pianist was on hand during cocktail hour too. I ordered the chef salad. Unfortunately I was disappointed with the amount of protein they put on it. As you can see from the picture, there were tiny pieces of turkey and ham that was almost nonexistent. I am disappointed for sure. A $9.00 salad should be more than a bowl of salad greens and dressing. I won't write them off because the sandwiches are amazing, but I will NOT order another salad from them. It was not worth it money I paid.

The amount of meat included was minimal--about the size of a single McDonald's chicken nugget. And before anyone asks, no, we did not order a vegetarian option. Beyond the portion size, the food itself just wasn't very impressive. The flavors didn't live up to the hype, and the overall meal felt underwhelming for the price. I don't mind paying for quality food, but I do expect portions and taste that justify the cost. I always like supporting local businesses and wanted to enjoy this experience, but sadly, it missed the mark for me. Hopefully this was just an off day, but based on my visit, I don't see myself returning.

In January 2023, a "hold this date reservation arrived" for August, 2023. A family member held her large, fashionable, and somewhat expensive wedding reception for 300+ friends and relatives. We congratulate her foresight for engaging this venue. It is great that Dayton's historical buildings are restored and lots of area folks delight in selecting reception areas. We know that Steam Plant Professionals deserve huge credit for being the venue of joy to life. We like the event spaces, indoor and outdoor. It was all great. I probably wouldn't stop again for the shake alone (although the presentation was fantastic), but it was a nice combo with the food. Get the rosemary parmesan fries, you won't be sorry! Fyi, the rice crispy treat shake has chocolate and caramel in and on it which I didn't expect.

But are loaded with garlic and I was scared my child wouldn't eat her burger due to the garlic on it. She didn't like the garlic fries which would made me even more scared in anticipation. I cleaned most of the garlic off of the burger that I found and put it on a different plate before she noticed and thank god she was just fine. I'm sure other moms can understand my fear haha. Her kid burger was huge! If you have two kids you could probably cut it in half. I got the bourbon burger which was fantastic beside the yucky wilted lettuce on it. My boyfriend loved the Cajun, I like spicy food but it was far too spicy for my liking. The shake presentation was AMAZING! The toppings on the shakes made up for the lack of flavor. The beignet itself was delicious! The shake it's self lacked flavor. McDonald's vanilla has more flavor unfortunately. Same goes for the caramel waffle. The waffle on it was delectable, but the shake itself was average. Both shakes tasted like they were just vanilla with a hint of berry and caramel, maybe haha. None of us could tell. Also no fruity pebbles or trick we're mixed in with the berry beignet like states on their website. I wouldn't care about these minor issue if it weren't for the steep prices. $7 a shake, $10-$12 for a burger with no side, and $4 fries. I don't mind paying that but the item should be held to a high standard.
