Enter, stage left: "Medical Pedicure."
*I found them on Yelp, but even without reviews a quick perusal of their website put me at ease. I'm happy to report back with a full 5-stars!
Music to my feet. I am terribly intrigued by chiropody.
Chiropody is not as commonplace in the US as it is in the UK. Why!? I am not sure, because it is brilliant and truly -- taking good care of one's feet is extremely important to overall health.
I would consider a medical pedicure something like the routine maintenance one might perform on a car. Not something you need every day, week or even month (particularly if you don't have any issues like bunions, corns, callous, verruca, pain, etc) -- but every 6-12 months, we need to get things tuned up.
It's a cross between medical and beauty. A licensed and educated chiropodist puts you in the chair, and proceeds to smooth out all the maladies brought upon one's feet by ordinary life, pinchy shoes, flip flops, sports, etc. Shaves down dried cracked skin, rounds out the nails and smooths them down, and basically just brings your feet back to an organic position.
Of course they also have much more complex and detailed procedures, but I was just in for a bit of medical pedicuring. This took about 40 minutes total. I also sent my husband to deal with a pesky verruca, which he is now finally getting to -- he's also a fan of Feet by Pody.
The office is very nice, situated within Light Centre Moorgate (on London Wall just a short walk from Moorgate Station), which is beautiful. It's a bright, open, airy space and the Feet By Pody room is super clean and professional, sparkly and shiny.
So if you were ever wishing that your nail tech at your local shop would scrub those callouses a bit more or really get in there --- come here first. Have them do the hard work, then go to to your nail lady for the pretty finishing touches and polish.
Happy feet, happy life. I'll definitely return to this practice, very professional and welcoming.
Initial consultation and medical pedicure/assessment = £70.
