Dr. Carlton was the best doctor that I have ever had. He was caring and knowledgeable. He moved a few years ago to North Carolina.

From prepping & education by staff the weeks leading up to surgery day, to then the check in, surgery, recovery and release, every step of the way, and every person I encountered was incredible. So kind and understanding, they really made me feel heard and cared for. The facility was clean, and the staff was so kind. My surgeon Dr. NADEL knew what he was doing and delivered on the promise of an excellent procedure. Easily was able to get ahold of staff after surgery through the portal and all questions were answered at ang time. Everyone helped me feel comfortable and safe before AND after surgery. I am so grateful to everyone at West Hills Surgery Center, and Dr. Nadel, for making me whole again, and feel at ease during the process. Thank you all

No one called. Then about 5 days later we got a call from their Scheduler Rhonda. She said we had to get a blood test from our physician? Also that we had to call the anesthesiologist to find out how we were going to be charged? We called our physician and was told that he would not consent to blood work he doesn't know anything about. We called and called and left messages to the anesthesiologist. NOTHING. We called back to the office to try and reschedule. The Santa Clarita office never answers the phone. Their answering service days they are out to lunch from 12-2pm. We call back after 2pm and no one answered. We called the Tarzana office to find out what happened and to reschedule. We explained the issues and Magina at the office apologized and explained that there was a miscommunication. That they would send the blood test over to our physician's office. Which by the way wasn't received. She said Rhona, the scheduler, miscommunicated.Nevertheless we were told we would get a call from here the next morning. We never got one. So, we called the Tarzana office again. Then we were greeted by a very unprofessional staff member who was not only rude but borderline racist. She made smirky remarks and hung up the phone. Wow!. So we called back and explained. They simply say, they don't know who answered the call. Why is it so hard to reschedule? Why were we mistreated and why is it so hard to get in touch with the right person? This is so not consistent with the reviews that I read. Something is very wrong here. Someone didn't do their job and someone lied. I don't like to make bad reviews. The doctor may be good but the staff needs help. This is by far the worst experience I had with a doctor's office over trying to reschedule. We had no choice but to cancel. Even if they try to talk to the staff, those staff members would still hold a grudge. You lost a patient over a simple rescheduling matter that could have prevented a whole ball of mess.

I was in West Hills Hospital for 6 days and every morning he came in and checked on me. His bed side manner was top notch, he answered every question I had and never seemed to be in a rush. After I got out of the hospital I had to visit his office a week later to make sure that everything was ok. His office is located right next to the hospital. My appointment was at 2:00pm. I arrived at 2:10 and there was about 6 people in the waiting room. The receptionist who was really nice said that Doctor Candela was on time. I expected to wait for a while, just because you always do at the doctors office and I was late. No more then a couple minutes after I sat down my name was called and I was taken into a patient room. I was only in the room a couple minutes before Dr Candela came in and examined me. He was really nice, went over everything took his time explaining as well. He is probably the first doctor that has been on time and I was in and out of there in 20 minutes. I hope to never have to see him again, that would me I am sick...but if I need general surgery I would want Dr Candela to preform it again. Thank you for saving my life Dr Candela and doing an amazing job.

This Dr asserted it "had" to be adenomyosis, however, my MRI said differently. I had to beg to have my hormones checked. He refused to put in orders to check my blood counts because "he doesn't handle anemia." He originally wanted to just perform a biopsy in his office with absolutely no heads up at all! When I made it abundantly clear I was not comfortable with this, he said that the only way to treat my irregular periods would be a "surgery" (he did not specify exactly what kind of surgery which fueled my anxiety even more). Just loosely explained it in a condescending way. If he just told me the name of the procedure, that would have been helpful. But of course not. I was treated like I was an idiot, and crazy. Remarks were also made about my age and "ovarian health" without proper testing to refute his claims. And just to test things out because he insisted I was having "anovulatory cycles," I tested my progesterone several times over the last week and a half in my luteal phase, as well as tested my LH levels mid cycle. All were indicative of ovulation, at least for this cycle. And I just had a baby a year ago... I did just turn 40 but I did not appreciate this overgeneralization simply due to my age and without a thorough work up of tests to at least back it up! Instead I had to pay out of pocket for my own bloodwork for a more thorough investigation. Something I don't think I should have had to do! Additionally, I had to do my own research. I asked lot of questions during my visits which appeared to annoy him and he was so deadset on making statements without asking questions and ordering tests, especially another MRI in my case, and something I found to be a red flag I came to his office twice in one week because I was so concerned about symptoms I having...and Veronica at the front desk so kindly alleged that I "put pressure" on her "so many times" to put in the authorization when I asked once! To add insult to injury, she called me over a week later putting pressure on me to commit to a date for the surgery and I said I have to make arrangements w taking time off work and childcare arrangements so I can't...to which she proceeded to raise her voice at me accusing me of "pressuring" her the week prior. WTF? And am I really going to allow anyone to perform any kind of procedure on me when she feels comfortable copping an attitude like that?! Absolutely not! I can only imagine the terrible things this Dr, who snapped at me last I saw him to ask about a medication, went and said behind my back. Not to mention, a warm office with Frank Sinatra blasting just gives horror movie vibes. No thank you.

Dr. Paya met me and within 2 minutes casually said "oh you're definitely a candidate for the sleeve!" He asked me no questions and I had to call him back 2 days later with a list of questions and concerns. Of course in the office I got so excited because I thought that this procedure would change my life, even though I eat less than 1,200 calories a day. Over the next 12-14 days I obtained second opinions and every single doctor said I wasn't a candidate. I confronted Dr. Paya about this and he again said I was ok. He ignored me and told me I got "overwhelmed" when I talked to their nutritionist. He said "there are no food restrictions with the way I do this procedure." His nutritionist gave me a packet with a LAUNDRY list of post op diet instructions, none of which I would've been able to follow because of food allergies. I also researched this on my own and EVERY SINGLE article listed foods you may never be able to eat again. I canceled surgery. Dr. Paya pressured me not to. It has been a week and they have not refunded me a massive amount of money. STAY AWAY!!!!!!
