You can see and pickup, if you are so inclined, most any type of brewing supply you may need. You can also sample the owners in house brews in their private tasting room. I have been there a few times for the brews. They offer a great variety. Something to fit most all tastes you could say. From a Vanilla ale to IPA, an Imperial Stout to even a spicy sour... you can satisfy that craft beer urge here. First time visiting the store today. The store is small, but has a good selection of ingredients, and they have extra stock in the brewery that they were more than happy to bring out of the back. Also offered AHA discount which is a plus. Lisa served me and was very helpful, and even offered a service for next time to email the malt bill in advance so it would be ready to pick up. Very nice touch! I have been looking for a new brew store for a while now (since Mother Earth Brew store closed), and looks like I have finally found my goto place. I found the the owners very helpful. When I moved up to all grain, Raul did a great job in getting the recipe for the brown ale I wanted and I was pleased with the result of the brown ale that I had brewed. They have a wonderful selection of grains to brew just about any traditional beer style or from your own recipe formulated from your imagination. I have also bought supplies for equipment from them. The prices are reasonable. They also sell honey for meads and supplies for wine making. They have a couple of time ordered things I needed that were not too common. The store hours aren't exactly 24/7 and I wouldn't expect that from home-brew supply store unlike a grocery store. They do post their open times and holiday schedules on their website. Went in here twice. First time I went, the woman working wasn't able to help me with any of my homebrew questions, so I left frustrated. A month later, I went in on a weekend, with different questions, looking to buy grains for my first all grain brew. The man working was uninterested in helping me figure out exactly what I needed, and despite asking him several questions, I learned nothing. Therefore I bought nothing. The lesson I learned was that it's easier to drive down to the SD brew shops than work with these people. They seem more interested in their own brewing enterprises. read more

Impressed with this shop. We're just getting into brewing and the owners took their time to explain some basics with us. They will even prepare and mill your grains before you come in so you can grab, pay and go. The small tasting room is an added benefit as you can trade recipes and learn from other home brewers and beer enthusiasts. They also carry the grainfather in stock and have free classes monthly. I stopped by Carlsbad Brew Supply a few weeks ago to pick up some ingredients for a Pale Ale with Ginger that I was brewing. As expected they had all the malts, extract and yeast that I needed. I was however very appreciative of the openness and conversation I had with the owner. One of the best things about a good home brew store is that you can discuss recipes and all things brewing and I found that here. The owner is a professional brewer and the prices are good. I love Guadalupe Brewery! I'm so happy they moved into the Carlsbad neighborhood! I can't say enough about Lisa and Raul's hospitality - they welcome you into the tasting room as though you were stopping by their home for a visit. I do not brew beer (yet), and I have always preferred stouts and strongly disliked sours. However, Raul talked me into trying the Kaxtilchili Rye Saison, then the Chile Sour. Both beers, especially the Chile Sour, blew me away; everything I thought I knew about my taste was turned upside down! I now prefer Sours and Saisons over Stouts! Today I took the Basic Brewing Class at the tasting room and we brewed a Pineapple Hefeweizen. I can't wait to start brewing at home. read more

I am a big fan of Carlsbad Brew Supply and Guadalupe Brewery. It is great having both a local brew supply store for home brewers, and a great brewery/tasting room. I'm able to get all the supplies I need to homebrew, then grab one of their amazing beers from their tasting room behind the store. I love the intimacy of the tasting room and opportunity to have the owner and brewer Raul serve and discuss his creations. There is nothing worse than going to some tasting room and the bar staff has no idea what they're serving. That's not the case at Guadalupe's tasting room, you are either served by the owner Raul, or is co-owner and wife Lisa, who's fantastic also. Their customer service is impeccable.
