I have been going to Carlo's Barber Shop for the last few months after I started growing a beard and realized that it is too difficult for me to properly trim it at home without making a mess out of it. Courtney has done my beard trim every time I've been there, and it always comes out great! The price for a beard trim is very reasonable, and although they're cash only, this is definitely a financially sustainable option for those that want to grow a beard but don't want the hassle of maintaining it themselves. Definitely a great place to go, as everyone is very friendly and the quality of service is very high. Can't speak on actual haircuts because I haven't ever had mine cut there, but everyone I've seen in there getting their hair cut looks good afterwards. Overall, I'd highly recommend it! read more

Independence, Ohio is a suburb of Cleveland known locally for its sprawling strip of office towers and hotels along Rockside Road. But just a quick turn south onto Brecksville Road will take you through the original downtown business district. Tree-lined with a 25mph speed limit, the area is noticeably calmer and quieter than the Rockside glut to the north. Carlo's is the requisite barbershop on this little strand of Americana, and customers are treated to a retro-style atmosphere, complete with a vintage cash register and Coke machine. My stylist, Courtney, was professional and friendly. Since I was a new customer, she asked me a few questions to gauge my cut preference. She was efficient and even trimmed my eyebrows. The cuts are great and the price is right. I am pretty particular about my hair and have gone to expensive salons in the past, but rarely have I received as good of a cut as I get at Carlos. Sometimes you have to wait a bit, but it is worth it. Things do move pretty quickly though with 3 skilled barbers working at once, so don't let 5-10 people ahead of you scare you away. I used to feel I needed to wait for a particular barber, but have found that I receive a great hair cut from any of the barbers. I highly recommend Carlos Barber Shop. I work on Rockside Road and creep up through town to catch a nice fade every couple of months. I look shabby after about a month. I should be getting a cut once a month but I get caught up in the mix of action. I have been cut by three different barbers and they are all solid. A men's regular is $16 which is not bad. This is the best barber I have visited around Independence. I highly recommend this old school barber shop. read more

We started going to Carlos in Garfield Hts. before there was an Independence location, and we go nowhere else. Carlos both junior and senior have always treated us very well! My 16 yr. old son will only allow Nick at the Indy shop to touch his hair. I however, trust Carlos, Nick and Courtney enough to reply, " Do whatever you want because you know what I like." If you want glitz or gimmicks, don't go here. If you want an old school neighborhood atmosphere and nice people, this is the place. The only reason I would hesitate to recommend this to everyone is because I don't want you to get in front of me in line for my haircut.
