After they bought the ice…read morecream they sat at the first empty table they saw, there were no signs or anything that they cannot do that. Though, apparently this table was reserved, they found this out when a waiter (bold guy with a beard ~30 years old) came to them and just threw the napkins on the floor. Also he took all the forks, knifes and etc with him. After he did this he just walked away without saying anything, after my daughter asked him why he did that he rudely told her that the reason of his outburst was that the table was reserved and my children took the place without asking (which is apparently prohibited or smth). After this my daughter told him that he could just tell them, but the waiter didn't reply at all and just left. In a few min he came to them with some kind of a paper about the reservation and just shoved it in their faces, again without saying anything. My daughter again told him that he could just ask them to move after this they just left the place. The restaurant was half-empty when they came there with a lot of free tables.

The place is right on the Gava beach boardwalk and you are looking at the sea from the outdoor dining area. The service was relatively fast but the waiters didn't speak any English and they only had menus in Spanish and Catalan. Clearly not many tourists in this area. Without my boyfriend's Duolingo's Spanish we would have left hungry :)

Loved the combination of flavor of perfectly juicy ground beef with green olives - yum! Entrecôte was also my favorite. So tender and juicy. I also tried Hawaiian pizza (it's rectangular by the way), which happened by mistake because of the order mix up. It was fabulous! They order sangria con vino (wine) and sangria com cava (bruit). I really liked the one with the wine. Prices are very reasonable, the food is delicious and the view of the sea is great!

Since arriving in Barcelona about a month ago I have made Laie a near daily staple in my morning…read moreroutine before class. The cafe upstairs is great; lots of space and good food. Immediately up the stairs are a few tables with a view of the street, and if you follow past the bar seating and you come into the first of two large open rooms with ample seating. There is also a terrace out back which is currently under construction but looks like a great place to enjoy a coffee. The sandwiches and desserts are good as are the drinks, but there's something about the ambiance that is going to keep me coming back. I generally go for the zumo de naranja, a croissant and a cortado but their daily menu, salads etc. are also a treat. Conveniently tucked away within Gracia just behind the Passeig and full of all types of people (locals, tourists and students galore), Laie is a great spot.

We sampled one of their lemon muffins, two types of foccacia, a cinnamon roll and the extra goodies that the lovely woman threw in, and each was excellent. My personal favorite was the lemon muffin; absolutely delicious! It's also a darling shop and a delight to stand in while you peruse the selection and smell the deliciousness baking away in the back. You can tell that all of their products are made with care and they really love their craft, I'm considering buying their tote to bring around the farmers markets when I'm back home! That's how charmed I am.
